  4. Sorry if this has been posted before but I tried searching for an hour to find the following and I didnt have any luck. I bought R34 GTR turbos for my RB30DET VL. I was told they were steel wheel but then a few people that wouldnt really know have told me theyre not steel wheel. Are R34 GTR turbos steel wheel? What sort of boost and power could I make with them? How can you tell the difference between steel and ceramic turbos? Cheers Edward
  5. Have you got the turbo manifolds off the GTR, I am after the two actual manifolds and the pipe that joins the turbos to intercooler that has twin turbo written on it? please PM me as I dont allways get time to check back and stuff moves down so quickly on this forum :S
  6. Yeah they are duralites. Would anyone have any idea what sort of power twin GTR turbos would make on the 30DET?

Yeah I realise that, I am going to use get custom manifolds, and theyre not forged pistons but considering a few people make 270rwkw on standard factory internals, I am not worried about pushing the limit. The engine has been pretty cheap really should be built under $1500 including head rebuild and machineing etc., if I get twins then it will still be cheap and be a good street car if you know what i mean.   9. Hey everyone, My RB30DET should be finnished in a month or so. Now I have got to decide on a turbo/s, Its only got a NA ACL VL rebuild kit, 25DET head with VCT, E6K Haltech, 550cc, fmic and 3"exh, so I dont want anything too hardcore. But I was hoping to get near the 280-300rwkw mark, would this be possible with R32 GTR turbos or would I be better off with 2 RB20DET turbos or a big single? I wasnt sure if I should put this into the Conversion thread but i decided not too cause its allready to big without everyone elses plans etc... Edward

Both apparently in good working order and neither of them is sold yet. I honestly dont think it will cost me as much as you seem to think. The idea is too do it cheap if I paid $7000 for a GTS4 how much do you think it will cost me to have it completed if I do all the labour myself. If you know what your on about you can get things done cheap... Getting the block modified properly won't cost more than $50 hardly worth adding into the price. When i bought the 25DET it came with coils and I bought 550cc side feds a while ago. As I see it the only extra cost of putting this motor into a GTS4 will be. The cost of the car and converting the motor too 4WD and buying a gearbox. Fuel pumps/Intercooler etc will be the same price in a VL. I still think $12,000 should cover it.. Id love to know how much a sump conversion is or even where to get one. Cheers Edward
  12. JIMIH: I dont know what your talking about... there is no standard RB30DET Commodore. My RB30DET is getting built at the moment and its not costing me much at all. But I got the RB25DET cheap as chips and sold the bottom end for almost what i paid for the motor. And the heads been pressure tested and its all good I've seen GTR boxes on here for as cheap as $500 to $800 I reckon $12000 should cover it if I get the one for $7000. Plus I can sell the VL...

Thanks for all the replys I wasnt expecting such a interesting thread Predator there is two that came up through the same person, one is manual for $7,000 coil overs roll cage and apparently a bit of rust. Im sure it wouldnt be as bad as your average VL but The other is an auto but it comes with a complete manual conversion, coil overs and enkei wheels and a mines dash. and he wants $8,000 as is or $10,000 with the extras but it is in good condition. My mate checked them out today. In the first post when I said is it going to be as good as a GTR I am sorry I never ment I wanted to replicate one. I suppose what I ment is, would it be as strong as one. But I did want to know all the differences. I was aware of the pumped guards because my brother has got a 32GTR and I reckon they look mad! If i do up the VL I will probably spend $6000 on mags, interior, and a respray. Or I could sell the VL for $4500 and keep my RB30DET for a GTS4 Also as for brakes and suspension/handling im sure a GTS4 with a rollcage and coilovers is going to handle and stop better than a turbo VL

I am currently rebuilding a RB30DET for a VL and I was thinking about putting the engine into a GTS4 instead as I have seen a few getting around for $8000 I have seen on one of those import DVDs High Octane i think it is they get a GTS4 and put a GTR engine and box in it. What I want to know is: If I get a GTS4 put my RB30DET into it with a GTR gearbox and aftermarket ECU will it be just as good as a GTR? or are the drive shafts smaller etc... also what about chassis strength?   16. Hey man I tried PM'ing you back before but It said your box was full anyway, I bought a RB25DET motor complete the other day just missing turbo loom and computer, got it for $600 unreal ay. Anyway I got another mate that wants to do a twincam RB30, He was going to get a complete RB25DE, I told him to wait around, All he really needs is the head and oil pump, I think he will go aftermarket manifolds, computer etc. How much did you want for that stuff? Or what did you want for the 25DET motor? As for the IRS, i should be able to say tomorrow if I will get it or not. Cheers Edward

  18. I am after a complete R33 IRS LSD diff, I am going to put it in a VL Commodore so I need the lot including brakes. How does $500 sound for the lot. I think $500 is pretty fair there doesnt seem to be a big market for these diffs and there are a lot for sale I can get one missing brakes and rotors for $450 but id rather get it complete. Hope you dont think the offer is silly, but im not in a hurry and they come up fairly often. Cheers Edward

  20. virb25: yeah Darren with the TwinVL, i have been talking to him about it and there is another guy thats done it Guido Seevens. Both of them roughly explain how to do it on the net, I was originally thinking about getting IRS out of a VS but i dont think its worth the hassell as its been done with R33, its going to be stronger no doubt and closer to the right track, maybe $400 seeing as it doesnt have brakes? If you think thats unfair thats ok, I am sure if I wait around I will get it. Darren paid $500 for his complete including brakes. What would be missing exactly just the callipers? rotors? brackets etc? Cheers Edward

Hi everyone as the topic states I am chasing R33 IRS after the complete setup including brakes etc I am converting my VL Commodore to IRS and I know of people that have done it with R33 IRS that are going to help me. I am not in a hurry for it as Ive lost my licence etc. I was only expecting to pay around $400-500 for it Cheers Edward
  22. Hey bloke, how much do you want for the complete rear end? Im talking the complete IRS setup I was even after brakes, but seeing there gone everything else? I am interested in putting IRS on my VL? I know a guy that has done it before with R33 IRS and he is going to help me do it. I wasnt planning on paying a sh*t load for it because I don't beleive there is much of a market as ive never heard of anyone braking a diff or half shaft in a R33 and I am in no hurry as I have just lost my licence. If your interested I would appreciate it. Edward
  23. I saw some PVC intercooler plumbing on a CA18DET S13 Silvia runs 13PSI. He painted it black. It doesnt look bad. To be honest I probably wouldnt have even noticed it if he didnt point it out. Seems to be effective. Although I personally wouldnt do it because I can get SS done relativly cheap cause my mates are boilermakers. I cant see anything wrong with PVC.
  24. I wouldn't chuck it.. The fact its out of date just means that when you go to use the flare, there's a possibility it might not ignite properly. It's not going to blow up or spontaneously combust.
