Vl Fuel Rail On Rb25det For Top Feed Injectors?
joe2548 posted a topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hey all, just wondering if anyone has tried to use a vl commodore fuel rail on an rb25det so that they can use top feed injectors?? - (or any other non aftermarket fuel rail) also can the standard r33 computer run larger injectors(if so wat types e.g. gtr injectors?) or would u definently need aftermarket management.(i know i could run a aftermarket fuel press. reg but dont like the idea.) i have a bosch 910 fuel pump and std rb25 injectors/f.p.r./turbo/ecu on a rb25/30det with FMIC. -
hey, i am building an rb30det, i am using the oil pump out of my old rb25det which on the stock guage would show 4-5 at idle when cold 3-4 at 100kmh in 5th 2-3 at idle when warm my current rb25det(new motor- low km import) oil pressure shows 8+ at idle when cold ~6 at 100kmh in 5th 5 at idle when warm i used the same oil pressure sender on both engines... so is the first pump stuffed? i pulled it apart and there was slight wear on the teeth of the gears- but i dont have anything to compare it too. so what does your stock oil press guage show? thx in advance

Brand New Clutch Slipping On R33
joe2548 replied to Starionturbo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
real crankshaft seal could be leaking(oil on clutch) but should have been changed with clutch. -
mate just make sure u have mudflaps, dashmats, 15' intercepters with hub caps, nudge bar, tow ball, extra view rear vision mirrors(the ones u use with a caravan) etc.... and it will be sweet. oh yeh i think the standard vl crossmember will bolt up to the gearbox(if its the same as the r33 gbox) it'll be a tight fit but gl.

got my gbox...1350 from a wrecker. with shifta, slave cyl, and part of tailshaft.
-
get one of those roo shoo whistles - cheap turbo lol

I modify my car to learn- i do all the work on my car myself and i have learnt a lot-(rebuilding engine, adding performance parts, changing brakes/sus, diagnosing faults.....) if it breaks down i dont have to spend hundreds of dollars for someone else to fix it.(which is important being a student) at the end of the day u can look at ur car and be proud of what u accomplished- engineering ur average car into something better, its about pushing the limits. for example i wouldnt get off on buying someone elses 200kw modified liner, sure it would be nice to drive but its not the same as having chosen parts/doin the research/work urself.

got my box. delete this thread

Hey all, im going ahead with this conversion, but am having trouble with the timing belt, i want to leave the tensioners down low(cbf drillin more holes for the hell of it) so im told the belt i need is a Gates Powergrip GT2- 1200 8MGT 30.... i have found one of these, however it needs to be 25mm wide(30mm std) did people cut these down themselves(sounds a bit dodgy) or can the factory cut them down for you?? and who do i ring to get the right belt??
-
oh yea, and some good plugs.... lol @ first post...lube door hinges, check tire pressures.. as if any garage is gonna bother doing that, they will charge for it tho
-
ur car wont die if u dont do all that stuff...and why change the waterpump when its not broken? personally i wouldnt pay anyone you dont know to do it....not worth the risk. definently do timing belt, oil and filter, change fluids too.(u should be able to do this urself, take half a saturday if ur slow like me, if u cant do this u prob shouldnt own a car )

i had exact same problem, that gear oil stinks... my 33 gtst had a short shifter when i bought it, and the gearstick rubber boot was sorta cut to fit- pretty dogdily i might add... so i fixed that up with some silicone and cable ties... that stopped 95% of the smell, however the other day wehn i pulled my engine out i noticed there is another rubber boot below- right on top of gbox - it was ripped...theres where that awfull smell was coming from.

thanks

thanks platinum, has anyone used standard r33 comp+injectors, does it run ok, or will i definently need to go aftermarket...(dont want to as saving money for uni next year) also wat injectors can be run off the standard computer?(i assume only standard inj, or can they run s15 or gtr injectors?) sounds like id be wasting my time with a stock turb, so ill definently go bigger. anyone with more exact info on the external oil feed? - i dont want to disable vct.
-
yea ur right on the money cubes.. i thought mayb ppl were using it as a spring loaded tensioner... anyone got time to answer my rb30det questions...thx

My planned engine; (to go in vl....i wish i still had my 33) stock rb30e bottom stock rb25det head, inlet, exhaust, inj, turb i would like to have ~250rwkw can it be done with stock t03? or will i need a t03 highflow? will the injectors cope with this? i need a computer and loom, do i keep standard r33 comp&loom?, or do i go aftermarket?(keeping in mind id need something that drives the 33 coilpacks, and i dont really wanna spend much- i have no idea wat ems costs run into) wat sort of economy should i get(petrol prices are pretty high these days)? I havent seen any really detailed information on running the vct oil feed?(most of u say externally, some say its poss internally, can anyone post up some pics of where they drilled the block and head for this? where do u get the fittings and pipes from and what size) thanks.

hey all, just finished reading the 141 pages....took me a good week, great stuff keep it up. In regards to reversing the location of the tensioner and idler (tensioner on right when looking at eng front) i think this would cause premature belt wear, there should only be 1 tensioner, this tensioner should be on the non driving side to pull up the slack. The driving side will obviously never have slop. it should be ok if u dont use the spring on the right side, as many ppl do.

Sweet job, that was exactly what i was hoping for, would it work without the rectangular plenum? or did this increase efficiency? wats ur friends name, and pm me approx wat he wanted for one... thx

hey, has anyone cut off the throttle body and welded it onto the front of the intake manifold? my friend did this on a 32 gtst with great results.....

stuff idiots say about skylines
joe2548 replied to pentae's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
hey, funny thread.. i find with most commodore ppl(who are serious about modifying) are fine with my skyline, and talk sense. the thing that sh1ts me is those 18 y/o(no nothing) with a set of rims on his VS ecogay or the old blokes who have just earnt the money to buy a hsv(still no nothing)thinking there rides are top and skylines suck. when it comes to the lights they are left in smoke... (i am 18 but am open to different cars, and dont pretend to know everything) ----------------------------------------------- the other day i was driving down the street and saw a bloke i knew who had just moved to adelaide, so pulled up and started talkin...(i have a '33 gtst) bloke: i see heaps of better cars than yours in adelaide! me: wat are they? bloke: dunno, but there all way better than yours.. me: thats nice for them, but hey? what car do you drive again? (drives a real old ford laser with faided paint and rust holes= an absolute sbox) bloke: walks off owned...... -
OMG!! ratedGTR are u fkn serious?? man every time i hear that flutter sound i turn around and see a sh1tbox old car...... or a car that hasnt been setup properly. it sounds like ur ***in engine rattles and turbo is stuffed.....(dont worry makin that noise your turbo will get more stuffed....) if u want attention dont be a tightass, go and buy a loudass bov(if u ask me a factory bov is fine) and a 3' zorst.... but dont go and put performance screweing shit on a skyline!! (there should be laws against ppl like u with there fluttering bovs...like "ratedgtr is not allowed near a skyline" go buy an old crap car and make ur flutter. and as for performance increase that is bs... it makes compressor surge air trapped has to go bak out turb and into engine bay(allready hot air) so next gear change u suck in hot air (after u got over the bucketfulls of lag coz of comp surge)... some ppl need to think before they start detrimental mods to there car.
