  1. bp ultimate or if i cant get that i use premium with octane booster....but the best is avgas
  2. use some loctite gasket maker (silicon stuff) as long as the surfaces are clean itll be fine...
  3. thats a metric shitload of fuel youll get from all those injectors.... haha
  4. yes went for a drive with wastegate held open... still boosted up to like 15psi...i didnt push it past that though... thanks.
  5. You have 3 options buy a second hand piston, and a new ring- hone the bore(probably worth putting in new big ends as well) and slap it together with new head gasket prob cost you $300(only worthwhile if you do the labour yourself). or low km import engine cost $2000 plus couple of days work.(less work than repairing old engine) best and most expensive option is complete rebuild with stronger internals(dont bother rebuilding standard as it costs only slightly less). cost $3000+ oh and ask why did the engine fail?? faulty injector? too much boost?
  6. yeah mate allready done...thanks anyway
  7. Thanks james im sure that site will help a lot. Thanks again jazza. thanks to everyone for the massive input, if anyone has any pictures or any other information dont hesitate to post it.
  8. thanks paul, yes it is a bandaid job, and yes in the future im sure a bigger turbo will go on, when money allows, for the time i just want to be able to control the boost.
  9. Dad is free, the cost of someone else welding it would most probably cover buying another second hand manifold. And yes im going to be asking some people i know about it, which is also why i'm posting on this forum. thanks again.
  10. thanks R31Nismoid, the turbo is internally gated(and apparently bolt on- its internal gate was said to be set at 12psi), and on the car atm, and i do have the supporting mods. My engine is an rb30det and produces too much exhaust gas for the small internal wastegate...therefore boosting up to whatever it wants, e.g. ~20psi at 3000rpm, currently i have the internal wastegate partially open so that it does not boost as quick. But i still cant rev it past 3800rpm as it leans out over that. -The company i bought the turbo from have kindly sent me an external gate. -If i want to be able to control boost in the short term this is my only option. -In the long term i will buy a custom stainless exhaust manifold. modifying the turbine housing would be no advantage as it is cast iron as well and only further complicates matters, including the possibility of ruining the turbine housing. i have allready ground out the internal wastegate for maximum flow, it helped but not enough.
  11. thanks sinistagtst, an adapter will not work for me as my turbo is allready about 20mm from the chassis. And my dad will be welding it, he is very experienced welder but has not had much experience welding cast, and told me of the same cracking problem that could occur. does anyone know if it would be possible to drill a hole in the manifold and tap it to accept a thread so welding wouldn't be necessary? Keep the information coming people, it is extremely helpful.
  12. thanks jazza, however I couldnt find any information on a modified standard manifold on the turbosmart site, maybe im not looking in the right place or they have changed the site. Can anyone else please help me with this.
  13. Hey all, I am looking at putting an external wastegate on the standard rb25det exhaust manifold, -just wondering if anyone could tell me how they have gone about doing it. -e.g. welder type used, method of welding, position on the manifold. Also Pictures would be greatly appreciated. -i am doing this because i have a bigger turbo. -i am a student and cant afford to spend $500+ on a nice shiny exhaust manifold. -i have searched(for 5hrs), and found very little information on the subject. thanks, Joe.
  14. so if i want to have more than 13psi what are my options?
  15. Hey, someone told me r33 gtst's have a fuel cut is this true?
  16. Journal Bearings, does this mean ball bearing or bush type?
  17. Hi, does anyone have a highflowed rb25det turbo from sliding performance? are they reliable? what sort of setups do they offer and is the business reputable? Direct Bolt On High Flowed Turbo's for RB25DET from $890 http://www.slidingperformance.com/catalog/...products_id=262 How do i get in contact with this company?
  18. Yes guys i have allready searched and i did find the turb on the rb26det, i was just wondering how they went on rb25/30DET for comparison. ( i have 3 litre with rb25 head). thanks. i think it sounds a little laggy for my 3 litre anyway.
  19. Hey, Has anyone put an XR6 Turbo on their RB25det or RB30 twincammer? If so when does it boost, hit full boost, is it driveable and what sort of power do you make? thanks Joe.(looking for a turbo for my RB30DET)
  20. Theres nothing wrong with having a RB25DET head, the VVT is a peice of piss to get going, if your going to all the effort of building the rb30det, there are a lot harder issues you have to deal with.
  21. in victoria pod filters are legal. pods make a cool sucking sound(if u like that kinda stuff) but most of them have very coarse elements and let to much dust in if u ask me. do u want to wear ur engine for the sake of 2hp? go the k&n panel filter.
  22. ARE YOU SURE YOUR CLUTCH ISNT SLIPPING?? sounds like thats what it is to me, makes sense....under load boost increases rapidly and revs increase rapidly while giving you less power. but you prob know what clutch slip is....mayb something more complex than i could understand lol.
  23. hey all, i am building an rb25/30det atm with stock cams, i have heard that the rb30 runs into harmonic issues above 6500, is this true? i have an rb25det water pump and an rb30e water pump which should i use? also are you ppl using the rb25det oil cooler.(i have put mine on the rb30det but havnt finished building it yet.) i am using rb25det oil pump, but tossing up whether to buy new one or not because mine had lowish oil press on the engine it was off and shows slight wear on the teeth. on the stock skyline guage my oil pump showed; 4-5 at idle when cold 3-4 at 100kmh in 5th 2-3 at idle when warm my new rb25det(new motor- low km import) oil pressure shows 8+ at idle when cold ~6 at 100kmh in 5th 5 at idle when warm i used the same oil pressure sender on both engines... so is the old pump stuffed?
  24. yeh thanks guys... i guess for now i mite get a rising rate reg. when ive got some more dosh ill go aftermarket comp/inj/turb
  25. cmon ppl plz help.....just tell me what ur oil press guage reads...
