  1. Yeah the MX-5's are a great drivers car. Its a shame they can be underrated as a performance car as you'd only rarely see a nicely modded up one as you would pretty much see them in the hands of some toorak or south yarra dude who only bought it because it was a convertible and has kept it stock standard for the past 10 years being blind to further modding.

    Comparing it to my R32 GTSt I've driven both the NA and NB series MX-5's they are piss weak but they feel alot more chuckable around corners even though they are relatively underpowered. they'd be a really good slightly most costly alternative to an AE86 if you looking for a light NA rear-wheel drive car.

    they aren't as fast in a straight line (but then again I'm not into drags at the traffic lights, no skill in that.) but they are awesome on the twistys. :)

    they'd be a good drift weapon if given a good balanced setup.

  2. I'd go the R32 GT-R

    Don't mind the R33 GTS-t but even though its a newer car its still not a GT-R.

    I've driven the R33 and it feels more weighty and less of a drivers car compared the R32's.

    The dash and the seats look and feel pretty boring to me. I feel like i"m driving a camry. I think nissan went a bit conservative on the R33 series.

    The GT-R even though she's older has a much more meaner prowess on the streets with its wider guards and sleeker stance. and given there are so many 33's out there, to me they just don't turn heads anymore.

    but if you seriously want an R33, should spend a little extra and get the GT-R version of it.

    I just bought an R32 GTS-t off mate of mine and he was about to install a Blitz DUAL SBC Spec-R controller but unfortunately got lazy and decided to sell it as it was.

    The upside to it though was the fact that he had already installed an aftermarket ECU being the Link GTSLink replacement ECU a couple of years back. so no more AFM.

    I was told that using a solenoid and the geniune hand controller I could rig the ECU to control boost.

    just wondering which type of solenoid and what other bits are needed to make it work.

    Has anyone ever worked on a Link? cos I've been given the funny look by a few of the tuning shops around melbourne and they won't touch it.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

  4. I've still got mine. There really isn't much point in taking it out unless you wanna hide a set of fuel pumps in your boot.

    You'd be wiser having it in there just incase you find yourself with a flat even though I wouldn't trust my life to them

    . plus worse case scenario is it actually acts as a good way to absorb a crash in the rear-end if some dero gets distracted by how nice your car is and forgets to hit the brakes.

    To answer your question for the rims even though the R32 GTS-t and GT-R rims like almost identical from the face view. the GT-R ones are actually 8 inches wide to fill out the wider guards, compared to the GTS-t's being only 6-inches.

    They wouldn't be GT-R guards cos I've seen Adam's GTS-t from Fulllock motorsport's car and he's got GT-R guards and front bar on his and personally I reckon it looks weird cos the rear guards aren't flared out as much making the car look a little out of proportion. Its an awesome car but I've been told its a hard car to drive.

    As for the front that would most likely be an aftermarket kit.

    I've got an R32 GTS-t manual and I get roughly 380-400km out of the tank of regular city/suburban driving.

    just did a drive up to Sydney and back a few weeks ago before that dreaded fuel increase and estimated with general cruising averaging 115-120km/h I could get around 600km to the tank.

    Mind you though the car's running an aftermarket replacement ECU and it doesn't run an airflow metre anymore so I was expecting it to drink more than that... :)

    its a Silvia/180SX oriented but he had some R32/33/34 kits as part of his range list as I noticed he had some BN Type kits. He's based here in Melbourne so it shouldn't be hard to get in touch with him.

  8. I've a '92 Model Type-M and in terms of fitting an intercooler some modifications would be required to fit a FMIC. I've ended up getting an R32 GTS-t specific Blitz kit with piping and managed to get it all fitted nicely.

    the only thing I realised was the when I went to put the front bar back on. It didn't fit. so for the centre intake cowling I had to shave back about 4 centimetres of plastic including cutting out the middle support bit to fit it in there.

    I also found some brochures online for the R32 series and found that the Type-M front bar and side skirts your mentioning and see on the photos were actually Nissan factory optional extras called the Style Tuning Kit.

    Anyways I have a look!
