    Perfect for road/race.

Not willing to drop too much on price as there's not much that needs doing to this car unless you want to turn it into a very serious racecar or go to town on it cosmetically.

This car has been my baby for 2 years. Always garaged overnight and rarely parked on the street. I'm selling as unfortunately I need to reshuffle things financially a bit.

  3. I'm sure they're a hoot to drive, I just don't like them! I took an instant disliking to them from the first time I saw how disgustingly quick they can be on a racetrack.

I used to run a 2L Datsun 1200 coupe (IPRA race car specs with full cage etc) for years before I bought the GTR. Towards the end it had 146bhp at the wheels and ran a 48.37. I think it was a big advantage learning the hill in a lower powered car. It would be alot tougher learning the hill in a rwd car with 250KW as you've done

Yeah, that diff would be a bit of a limitation on the track with the power you've got! My GTR actually has the inside rear wheel in the air when I start accellerating out of the hairpin - both times through it! Have to feather the throttle to keep it from wheelspinning too much - the open front diff isn't actually much help out of that hairpin either.

what kind of times are the clubman kit cars doing there? I don't really pay much atention to them...

Well I remember seeing a Westfield with the independent rear doing mid-45's, and other one with a SR20DET in it going even quicker.

The Hill's a pretty intimidating place in the R34. Fun though, and at least you don't get the cooling worries you get at QR in the hotter months.

  4. PM'd mate. If you're willing to hold off for a couple of months - are you interested in a swap for either my 4dr R34 GTT or 2dr GTT + cash adjustment? Both are essentially stock, 4dr has 116K and 2dr has 95K. First aussie owner for both.

    Cheers

Erm no sign of PM in mah inbox....

  5. I vote to stick with the Skyline. With the power you've got and decent suspension there's no reason it can't go alot faster at the hill. My GTR doesn't have that much power and has run 46.2 with a very basic suspension setup - ie just buddy club coilovers, no camber correction or anything. But awd and less power would be easier to drive around there. Stick with it - the times should keep improving. Just buy that cheap runaround and save the aggravation of trying to sell the 34. Besides its a damn nice car.

ps- i hate clubmans, so this may not be the most unbiased opinion...

LOL why do you hate them so, Harry? I'm yet to have a proper look at one so I'm neutral on the subject.

I'm not a very experienced hillclimber but I think AWD is a huge advantage around there. Part of it too is the car badly needs a better diff, the standard helical is fine on the road but spins up when you give it 100% (coming off turn 6 at QR or heading back up the hill towards Lover's Leap).

  6. sounds good.. let us knw what u do...

but it just seems that ur halfway ther with the GTT with all the suspension mods..

maybe someone knowledgeable (i.e. from on here) will see the value of the fairly extensive work it's had done to it - just not in the usual way i guess (meaning spend all your money on the engine and worry about the other stuff later).

i'm not asking for offers or anything just yet but feel free to PM or post what price ballpark you think is reasonable. 87,000kms, i guess the sig says the rest. no accident damage, one owner since import, cosmetically very clean (including underneath), it'll be sold with 18" rays nismo rims....

    >_<

  7. hehe yeah he loves me because i've funded his kids' dental bills i reckon. plus he gets to drive it occasionally.

rob from chiptorque did an awesome tune for me, i couldn't believe the difference, not really in outright numbers but just how well it comes on boost now. mental.

it's a combination of things really, during the week i drive this awesome car through boring traffic and leave it parked all day. i'm totally paranoid about leaving it elsewhere despite having a paging alarm system (eg. on the street in the valley or something) and don't have a second car.

the other factor is i do want to keep racing, and to go any further with this car and get it going genuinely fast will involve a full engine rebuild, forged bits, 2-way LSD, pulling weight out of it, bigger turbo, half cage, fuel system upgrade etc etc and it all just gets very very very expensive.

i'm not 100% sold on the clubman idea yet, still have to get my arse into one and see what i think, but i get the feeling the 34 will feel like a bus after i drive one. they're so light! so the theory is to sell the 34 to fund getting a clubman, and have an "ordinary" car that i won't be tempted to modify and spend $1000's on to do the daily driver stuff in.

    in theory. :)

  8. *THINKING* of getting into a clubman - Caterham, PRB, Westfield etc. Wanna go faster on the hillclimbs and track days. :)

Also picking up an old R31 to just run around in, park on the street and not worry about it all the time etc.

    Still just tossing ideas around.

Not sure on price yet... not expecting to get the money from the mods back (usually not how it works) but would like the transition into a decent Lotus Seven replica to be at least a financially neutral affair... >_<

I'll probably post a proper "for sale" next week if you guys reckon it's worth a try on here.

  9. maxxis ma v1 out of the shop with 38psi and absolute crap i might try 42 or 44 psi cause at the minute there gonna be the death of me i think... so far never again ;)

give em a coupla hundred km's dude - brand new tyres are slippery as because of the compound on them to make them slip easily out of the moulds in the factory and all those little mould injection hairy thingies. go easy for a bit then push a bit and let us know. ;)

  10. Im concern about getting the same inside wear on the new tyres, what alignment setting should i be running. Previously the chamber is -2 deg and toe-in 2.5 deg. Need help from u guys.

Depends. Remember the search button is your friend. ;)

For road use something around -1 deg front camber and -0.5 deg rear is ok. Toes should be 0mm front and maybe 1mm total rear toe in though people will argue this.

If you've lowered the car you might not be able to get to these camber values and will need a camber kit or raise it up a bit. The rear of Skylines is especially known for this.

Interesting feedback about the RT615's, thanks. ;)

  11. Just wondering if anyone has tried the Hankook Ventus RS-2 Z212's.

The tyre supplier who I usually get my tyres from was explaining today that they are a semi slick, but further investigation to me looks that they are more an aggressive street tyre, rather than a semi-slick.

I'm about to start entering my car into track days, I hardly drive it on the street, so I'm wondering if these would be a good tyre for me to buy, or should I buy what I seem to think is a proper semi slick?

I have not used these tyres, but it looks as though they are a street-oriented tyre.

There are some comments about these (RS2) vs the Falken tyre (615) at the top of this thread:

    http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthr...230#post1153230

    Also they tested the RS2 in with other street tyres in the recent Car and Driver magazine test. Basically the comment was that they're cheap and their results were up with the best (Yokohama AD07, BFG T/A KD and Michelin PS2) in the dry. PDF thingy attached, also link here;
