the head was high flowed before the rebuild, so thats not the problem. could installing a 500hp walbro pump really be the cause for the unusually high consumption if there is no aftermarket ecu???

i had my engine rebuilt and now fuel consuption is about 18L/100kms and thats just cruising around. i also stall for no reason every now and again. people say the satlling is from the bov. its stmo venting, but i've had the bov for 3 years without stalling. mods are fmic, bov, pod, exhaust thanks!

the way i was told to clean my my engine bay from an engineer form toyota: spray degreaser on certain part that you want to clean and have a paint brush to spread the degreaser and clean the crap off. once its clean have a little water sprayer like you see at the hairdressers and carefully spray the degreaser off. you may have to repeat this process. by using the water sprayer it limits the amount of water in you enginbay unlike if you used a high pressure hose. once you've cleaned the engine bay, spray tyre shine on plastic and rubber parts and spead with the paint brush for that brand new shiney look. i thought it was a gay idea untill i did it myself. was a little time consuming but my engine bay looke like one from a brand new car. my dad did it aswell in his car and all his friends think he never drives his car because its spotless inside and out. only do this if you are bored or really want a brand new look under your bonnet

so does that mean that since most rings available these days are coated they are somewhat superior to the plain steel rings? i would like to get some feedback as im planning on picking my pistons up within the next 2weeks

just a question for those who have done internals.... for piston rings, is it better to have plain steel rings or crome moly plated ones? i've been told that the plated ones wear out with and need a replacing if punnished (which i doubt i will do as i've never even been on the track). is that true??? iv'e also heard that the plated ones have been fit onto many drag and track cars without any problems. any advise would be appreciated as the pistons are the final part i need for my rebuild and im dying to drive my car again after 3 months thanks

For all the people wanting to buy these pistons be careful!!! I wanted to buy these last week. I got his number during the week and organized a friend that lives in Melbourne to check them out since I live in Sydney. They met up on Friday afternoon. My friend said they were ok but there was little or excessive movement where it connects to the gudgeon pins. Later that night I called him and said I wanted to buy them. I told him my grandparents were there for the commonwealth games so they could pick it up and forget about postage. He said yeh no worries I’ll go down to $600 and I’ll go drive to meet them half way. Just tell me where they are and call me back. I call my aunty where my grandparents are staying and she said yeh I’ll pay for them just pay me back. While she was on the house phone I called him on my mobile to confirm a meeting spot. Then he says he feels uncomfortable with the deal??? WTF says meeting a 3rd party is unnecessary and only wants to deal with me personally. I said I’ll go back to $650 and told him they’ll go meet him, like I originally planned instead of him driving around. Says he felt uncomfortable meeting GRANDPARENTS. Hahaha Also says how do I even know they will have money??? Are you the only person in the dam country that makes money??? Says he can’t trust me coz he doesn’t know me, then says he’ll just post it. Jus transfer the money into his account and It’ll just be posted??? He doesn’t trust me give the pistons to my relatives who will hand over cash, but he wants me to transfer $650 plus postage into his account??? Yeh right!!! He backs out of the deal. So we end the conversation and my aunty says don’t worry about it he’s a dodgy kient. He calls up after 10 minutes and says hey deals back on. I say what makes me think that you wont do something dodgy and drop them before you hand them over to my relatives? He says I won’t but what if I send them and you drop them on purpose and put them into your block and it blows??? WTF??? As if id do that you idiot??? What sane person would? Then I ask why he’s selling the pistons and it was a different reason to what’s on this thread and what he told my friend who checked them out. This guys is a f@cken liar!!! His f@cken breath stinks from all the bs he talks. Any buyers beware of this dodgy bastage!!! Some of the gudgeon pins have seized and some have excessive clearances. Also they very well have been damaged when he (spun the bearings). Why would you buy new forgies when you have some perfectly fine ones??? Hmmmm sounds like someone that needs to be b!tch slapped!!! Haha Well I hope no one buys these because I would hate for them to blow their motor because of these pistons. well i'v decided to go for the forged pistons. what brand should i get and where sould i get them? also where should i get the bearings from

i needed to get my motor rebuilt because my rings were leaking at 5 out of 6 pistons were in poor condition. shoud i just get standard pistons (740), rings(250) and big ends(200ish??) or just get some forgies instead? mods while rebuilding: to4e turbo, high mount manifold, 38mm wastegate, walbro 500hp pump, fuel reg, front mount, oil catch can and hopefully a power fc chasing the 250 mark what do you guys recommend???
