  1. I just put that link in a post as well. I didn't see yours first. You kinda stole my thunder. As I asked in my post, did they ever come with R34 front, or is it a chop job?
  2. Check this RS260 out. Did they ever come with an R34 front fitted, or is this just some chop job? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-31277633.htm Hope the link works Just found someone beat me to it (in 'Why can't RS260 sell for $39,000' post).
  3. Ahhh, that's what I was missing. Now I understand. Thanks for that. Sorry if it felt like hitting your head on a wall, but sometimes it can be hard to explain things when only using text.
  4. I think I'm missing something. If the controller waits until, say, 0.5g acceleration before transfering torque, which is fine on the road, but on gravel you would already be sliding or spinning the wheels. What am I missing? It is a reatively simple system, but I can't get my head around this particular thing. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
  5. Does it tale into account wheel spin? How does it cope with different surfaces like gravel or snow/ice, which have less grip, and therefore you would have to split the power earlier to avoid losing grip. What I'm trying to say is: If it takes input from the sensors you mentioned above, and then pre-empts any wheel spin, how does it know what surface you are driving on? The surface would make a difference because you begin to slid or loose traction sooner on gravel, etc than on the road. It certainly seems like a great system, all I can get from it is a couple of 'chirps' when taking off quickly while turning. I tried it around a sharp, low speed corner in the wet the other day, it just seems to pull into line when you plant your foot. It's quite hard to get used to compared to my previous 300ZX, which was always happy to go sideways in the wet even with 255's on the back.

    NZ Stageas

Just thought you might be interested in this. I was looking through www.trademe.co.nz and searched for 'nissan stagea'. I do this every now and again to see what's around. The usual page of Stageas came up, and in amongst them was an RS260. Take a look if you're interested, the last price I saw was NZ$38,500. There's also a few RS4's and other non-turbo Stageas there.
  7. Thanks for the info. A good clean answer. Some of the forums I was in with my 300ZX would burn you for asking stuff like that. Some of them had that 'you are too stupid to own a car' vibe.
  8. Probably a stupid question, but what is the torque split on a Stagea? I have held off asking this, looking for it in the forum, but cannot find an answer. All I found was that the button on the dash, next to the rear window de-mister, changes it to 50-50 (I think). Can anyone put me straight?

    into the 10's

I have not yet done a long distance using a whole tank. I did a trip a while ago, used 1/2 a tank on the open road, the other 1/2 round town, and got 11.5 l/100km. Around town it's about 14-15 l/100km. I figure that a whole tank open road trip would be in the 10's. The car is standard everything, cruised at around 110 for the open road. It is colder here in NZ, lately driving to work in the mornings it's about 5degC, the Stagea loves the cold air.
  10. On the papers it's GVM, which I assume is Gross Vehicle Mass.
  11. 1694 kgs! On the ownership papers for my '98 RS4 the weight is quoted at 1925 kgs (weighed in NZ during compliance). How did you loose almost 300 kg. Around town I get about 14l/100kms.

    New owner

Hi to every other Stagea owner. I'm new to this whole station wagon thing. I had to sell my '92 300ZX and get a more family car, for my new family. I looked around and saw that every man and his dog owns a Subaru, Mitsubishi Legnums seemed dodgy after that recall for brake failures and every thing else was too small. So I did a bit of research, and discovered Nissan Stagea's! I finally bought a '98 RS4 with auto, and have a couple of things that need clearing up about it. 1. I read that the '98 on have 206kW, but then also read that only the tip-tronic and manual have that much. I also thought that the tip-tronic didn't come until '99. I test drove a '97 before I bought my '98, and it seemed less powerful. So, does my '98 have 206 or 173kW? 2. Are there any other simple ways to free up a bit more power? I have already done the hoses off the wastegate solenoid. I am enjoying driving my Stagea at the moment, I like the fact that it just looks like a boring family wagon and surprises a few people at the lights.
