Aftermarket Rear Wing Options...
mazgtr replied to mazgtr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Sweet, plenty of options... It would probabley be cheaper to pick the one i like most, and then get a local Aussie place to build it for me, rather than importing from japan? -
Insurance Questions, Plz Help
mazgtr replied to Matt G's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The only catch with Just Cars is that their Excess they put on claims is usually over $2000. And on top of that another $1000 if it gets stolen, so their insurance is only going to help you if you right your car off, or it gets stolen, any little prangs and your paying for it yourself. Once i turned 25 i left Just Cars for Shannons, went from a $2300 excess to a $500, they also gave me full no calims bonus for life protection. Cant speak high enough of them... -
Does anyone know a good place to start looking or contact in regards to some rear wing options for my R32 GTR? Im not really interested in any of the those big C-WEST style bi=plane wings, im really after a long/flat drag GTR style wing, like you often see on RH9 cars in Jap... Any advice welcome... Cheers

Making R32 Gtr Full Time Awd?
mazgtr replied to jimbob's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Of the different electronic torque split controllers out there, the one i decided to go with was the Field torque controller. It simply allows you to adjust the speed that the ATTESSA system works, it doesnt simply over ride or replace it. You can adjust the electrical signal to the ecu to enable it to react more to your likeing, and can be set up to make the 4wd come in much sooner, rather than it running 4wd all the time. -

Just wondering what others think. Personally i dont think the R33 and R34 GTR have earnt the reputation or name that the original did by winning Bathurst and earning the nickname Godzilla. I just find it odd when you either see a car add, or ask someone what car they drive, and they say a Godzilla mate, and you say, what a R32, and they go nah, a R33 GTR mate... They never seem to like it when i point out that really only the the R32 GTR is known as a Godzilla. Anyway, just bored....

I had a look at the stock headlight switch, and i couldnt see how you get it off?? 2 screws??? It looked like you might have to remove all the plastic trim from under the dashboard??

Being strapped for cash at this time of year especially, i spent a bit of time today and simply rewired the headlights with some new wire and fitted my own inline fuse to a simple toggle switch, as a temporary solution. I ran outta wire though today, so for now the switch is mounted under the hood next to the battery, obviously ill buy some more wire and try and mount the new switch inside the cabin, until i can afford a new Nissan switch. Just on this fella's, wheres the best/easiest place to get wire from the engine bay through the fire wall into the cabin, i couldnt see anything obvious today, but didnt look to hard yet... Cheers....

Noticed the other night driveing home that i now for some reason have no headlights. The rear lights, dash lights and parker lights all still work, and one of my high-beams still does, but the other high beam and both normal headlights aint working. Ive checked the 2 fuses under the hood, and even changed them just to be sure. Ive also changed one of the non working headlight bulbs, but still no good. If i use a bit of speaker wire and wire it directley from the battery straight to one of the headlight globes it will light up. Just hopeing for anything else i can try or look for before i take it to an Autoelectrician and leave the car and a blank cheque with him.... Thanks guys.....

Anyone Fitted 275s Under R32gtr?
mazgtr replied to wrxkilla's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
My R32GTR has 18inch X 9.5inch rims with 265/35/18 at all four corners. The car is also lower than stock, and ive never had a problem. Cheers -
Just reading an old High Performance Imports, and in it Ben Ellis tests a R32 GTR fitted with a CAT back exhaust and a K&N filter. Hes able to post a 4.77sec 0-100km/ph time and a 12.97sec 0-400m time. He makes the comment though that the 0-100 time was done all in 2nd gear, i:e he launched the car in 2nd gear and removed the need to make a gear change to reach 100km/ph. I was just curious if anyone else has had a go at launching their car hard in 2nd gear, either at the strip or even on the street, especially in a GTR.. Cheers...

Ive heard of a few GTR's that have an aftermarket GTR badge fitted that lights up when its dark. Now i know this isnt everyones cup of tea, but i was just curious if anyone else has heard of these, and better yet knows somewhere you might be able to buy/have a look at one. Thanks

What Performance Times Should I Expect
mazgtr replied to gdogzgtr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I know of a R33 GTR with 285kw at the wheels that has done a 11.8 @ 118MPH. So id guess you would be looking at a 11.2-11.6 pass at about 120-124mph. You would need to post something like a 1.6-1.7sec 60foot time though. 0-100KM/PH would be in the 3.5-4.0sec area, depending on launch. About the lowest power for a 10sec pass ive seen, was a stripped out R32 GTR with a dog box and HKS-2540'S that ran a high 10sec pass with 358awkw... it needed a 1.51sec 60foot to do it though!!! If you've just got steel wheeled turbo's, and allready need 20psi to post 310kw at the wheels, then without a rebuild of the engine, or c16/avgas, you wont be able to run much more boost than what you are allready. Sounds like you have N1 turbo's fitted. No GTR with N1's is gonna have enough power to run a 10sec pass IMO. -
Generally speaking, people want different things from their cars. So keep their GTR's stock, some pursue lap times, others drag strip times. At the end of the day, anyone who owns a GTR that wants to run 10s on pump fuel without nitrous, is going to have to have to sacrifise response for top end power. You really cant have the best of both worlds. To some a 2500RPM power band is all thats needed, to the track driver it needs to be double that. 415 kw at the wheels is huge, and is enough power to post a 10sec pass, thats a great achievment. To some it wont mean much, they may look at a GTR with N1's that can do 1.40s round eastern creek as impressive. Critisising the response of a particular setup/turbo combination is fairly petty IMO.

Just on this, would one of the metal sheets/shrouds you can buy from places like Unique to help force air thru the radiator be a cheaper option for improved cooling?

Field Torque Split Controller
mazgtr replied to mazgtr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thats basically the same as the Field device, it simply lets you adjust the stock ATTESSA system to your likeing. Several owners of GTR's that do track work reccomended them to me, both here and in the USA. But unfortunatley the manufactorers didnt deem it neccesary to have both Jap and Engrish instructions... -

18x10inch Genova Forged Magnesium Wheels
mazgtr replied to mazgtr's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Ive seen a R32GTR with a set, that were actually Matt-Black, not silver, and IMO they looked good. Being Forged Magnesium they also weighed about half as much as a normal 18x10inch wheel. They're similar to the Lamborghini Diablo rims i think??? What do you think a set would be worth?
