  1. Did you even read what we said? its not the wastegate, its from having no bov and a pod. Its frustrating when you tell someone something and they completely ignore you.
  2. A dealership told you that it was wastegate flutter? Youd think that someone that deals with cars would at least have a clue how they work.
  3. Pics of the crash? Hopefully someone will take his car or license away from him, this is what these hoon laws are designed for.
  4. If you want the flutter noise get a pod filter and block off your bov. This will cause the air to go back out through the compressor getting chopped up and then back out the pod. This will give it the flutter noise, no one has really proved itll damage your turbo, but no one has proved otherwise. Some older turbo cars eg HR31 skylines etc didnt come with a bov from factory and ran fine, so Id say very minimal effect on the life span of the turbo if any at all. I bet someone told you it was 'wastegate flutter' and thats why you want an external wastegate , if so hit them over the head. Go to www.howstuffworks.com look up turbos and wastegates on there, it gives a very easy to understand basic explanation of how it all works. Great website for learning the basics.
  5. Id advise highly against driving it until you can get a proper tune sorted and hook the waste gate up. Infinite boost on an untuned engine = BANG
  6. Thats retarded, the extra flow of the 25 head would probably make up for the extra fuel consumption of the whopping .1L increase in capacity. Also there are people on here with big power RB30DETs getting better economy then my stock RB20. If fuel economy is your concern theres a million other facts that contribute to it.
  7. My turbo also does this, a high pitched shreiking noise. Sounds like the turbine is scraping the housing or something, Only happens when you go from zero boost to full boost very fast eg on a gear change. Sounds like a wave as well, like itll do it for half a second then fade away and then fade in again. Ive got a split pulse dump pipe as well, so its possible its just weird turbulence or something. Im assuming its the turbo being on its last legs but Ill wait for the exhaust wheel to end up in the cat before I change it.
  8. lol! dude this thing is doing it on 12psi, and its a v12 and Im sure it has a million other reasons why its worth it. Clearly money isnt an issue with whoever built it.
  9. Not really on topic but dale fz1 you sound like you know a fair bit about turbos, can you recommend any good reading, books articles etc for learning about flow maps, how to match compressors to a/rs to motors etc?
  10. http://www.theskylinesunderground.hostingz...ws/v12skyline/# Madness, this would be one sweet automobile.
  11. Has anyone here done a proper supercharger conversion to their RB motor, I'm not talking about a cheap SC14 backyard job but a proper supercharger, much like the sort you see on those silly v8s putting 500hp out not even trying. I mean for people trying to make massive power eg above 500hp would this not be a viable option? as you are going to start encountering decent lag even with an rb30det surely a supercharger would overcome this problem, maybe be a bit more expensive but alot more driveable and would sound infintely better. Just curious as I dont think I've ever seen it happen before.
  12. Whatever you do dont start it again until you know what the problem is, something internal which will probably get worse and cost more if you run it.
  13. Yeah as said above, it would only be for the burnout, everything else would be AWD
  14. You can convert them to rwd in the 32s by pulling a fuse. R32s Im pretty sure are primarily RWD until you loose traction as well.
  15. You would barely get any boost at all in first gear.
  16. Thats going to be cooking stuck in there.
  17. Pretty sure its for downforce.
  18. Any performance car will be expensive, maybe look at just some GTS-Ts they can still be very quick. If not look for one with a rebuilt engine.
  19. Sorry to shit in your thread but I just found that I can get them for $525 delivered brand new from perfectrun. I found out they will suit earlier redtop motors though.
  20. How would I find out if theses would suit the earlier redtop ECCS motor? If they do I am interested
  21. Hmm pulled it apart today, soaked it in degreaser and gave it s scrub, got most of the gunk out and it seems to be better only doing it very occasionally now. I managed to put back on differently now so the accelerator is much less springy and softer. Have to wind it up again tommorow. Oh well.
  22. Cheers for the reply, Ill have some fun pulling it apart sunday.
  23. There was a thread on here a few weeks ago but I cant find it after searching. Anyway when I change from 1st to 2nd (HR31 RB20DET) it sometimes revs up when I change gear. Or if Im going along in 3rd and get it on boost as soon as I clutch in sometimes the revs will sit at the same rpm for about a second or sometimes even go up as if I am still pressing on the accelerator. Now is spraying lubricant all over the throttle linkages likely to solve this, I remember someone saying in the previous thread to lube up part of the butterfly but cant remember where. Any tips guys? Cheers.
  24. Ummm is that a stock everything? if so well for starters it will kill the turbo doing that kind of psi and your motor wont be too happy as well. The standard ECU will fuel cut as well. Please give us some more details, and learn to type properly.
  25. Anyone know what the rims on that blue R32 halfway through the movie are?
