If you want the flutter noise get a pod filter and block off your bov. This will cause the air to go back out through the compressor getting chopped up and then back out the pod. This will give it the flutter noise, no one has really proved itll damage your turbo, but no one has proved otherwise.
Some older turbo cars eg HR31 skylines etc didnt come with a bov from factory and ran fine, so Id say very minimal effect on the life span of the turbo if any at all.
I bet someone told you it was 'wastegate flutter' and thats why you want an external wastegate , if so hit them over the head.
