  1. Head, cams and rocker cover delivered yesterday. Custom pistons will be arriving this week, the engine should go together in the next 2-3 weeks. Still waiting on exhaust manifold to be fabricated, another 4 weeks I think. Undecided on intake manifold... To stick with the stock item (that has been cut open and ported / reshaped) or to go a larger intake plennum. The smaller intake is good under 4,000rpm, and has a lower boost threshold due to smaller volume, but the larger intake will be good above 4,000rpm and excel at 6,000rpm+... My turbo will start to fall off around 7,500rpm due to the rear housing, which is why I cant really decide.
  2. No not exactly, but It allows us to run MIVEC which is mitsubishis version of a variable intake cam (cam timing... Not variable lobes like hondas VTEC) This will enable us to hold power up top, but realise 2-300rpm better spool and more power 'under the curve'. Not only that, it makes larger cams ALOT easier to live with as you can decrease the overlap on cruise, etc. This results in better cruise drivability and better fuel ecconomy. The Evo 9 head also has better cooling abilities as the coolent galleries in the exhaust side of the head are different / bigger. Im terms of more agressive cams, I really cant get any higher lift. This particular head/valvetrain combo has been setup to allow the largest lift possible on the 4G63 head. I cant go larger because the retainer will contact the valve stem seals. New cams are rather wild with 12.1mm of lift on intake and 11.9mm of lift on intake.
  3. Just recieved some sneek peek's of the CNC + machine work on my new Evo 9 Head....... Valve train still needs to be fitted and a final cleanup.
  4. Car head's over to bodyform today. Currently looking into a Varis carbon fibre roof... Depends on timing really. If I can get the roof in 4-5 weeks I might do it. I think I have decided on colours, but going to paint a test first to make sure while the body is being prepped. I WAS going to look a widebody, but it now looks like I wont be. Too difficult, and will loose the very 'stock' understated look I'm going for. Engine wise, not a whole lot is going on. Rods & crank delivered, pistons still being made which will be finished in a week or two. The head has finished getting portwork done, and is currently getting assembled with the valve train. Still waiting on photos. Either way, Ill get photos and post them up when it is delivered which should be before month end. With the old engine setup, we ran a standard sump with tomei baffle plates, but with the new setup we are considering a Moroso/AMS fabricated sump which has extra baffles to make sure oil stays where is should, and an extra 1.4L of capacity. To go with this, we are also considering a Moroso/AMS accusump, which has another 1.4L of capacity. If and when oil pressure drops during extreme cornering or acceleration, the accusump automatically pumps extra pressure into the system to make sure everything is well lubricated. The additional benifit with all this extra oil, in addition to the twin oil coolers, there should be NO TROUBLE in keeping oil temp's in check.
  5. Hey guys, I was wondering if you know anyone or have the skills/tools/space yourself to remove an engine from a VW Golf and replace it. My families 2001 VW Golf seized its engine on the F3 and if I can find a replacement, I'd like to drop-in another engine. Happy to pay cash. Cheers
  6. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
  7. Hey guys, Was just wondering if anyone knows a custom re-trimmer located in sydney. I need new 'custom' carpet + I would like to retrim my dash & steering wheel.
  8. No worries champ. When I get more pictures (particularly of the head) I'll post. At the moment I have nothing new to show. Why do you think he went to a HTA turbo? He#@34GeeTeeTee forsaw the need for more power... Scared I tells ya!
  9. You speak the truth. If it wasnt for you mate, who knows what the hell I'd be doing... the car that NEVER runs because its just constantly getting modded. lolz
  10. BAHAHAHA~! Might get a bit awkward using a straight razor 'down there'...........
  11. Look, 220kW was very fun on the street, and with e85 it only would have been better. I never ment to go FULL-RACE spec. I just got carried away. But I was always going to build a serious street car. It isnt a common problem. Just very unlucky. Guilty as Charged...... Already trying to talk myself out of a Wide-Body Kit & Twinscroll HTA3586R.
  12. Busy - Gillette Fusion (5 Blade Cartridge) Special Occasion - Straight Razor
  13. I normally use the one from Coates Hire @ Maitland. Cheap, and I found it to be really good. Nice and stable.
  14. Thanks copycutter. I originally set-out to build a car to do street duties, run consistant 12's at the strip, and 1:08's at Wakefield. (Remember this was 5-6yrs ago, when 98RON was the norm and a 1:06 @ wakefield was consided SUPER quick..) I managed to get 220kW, low 13's (13.1-13.2 sec passes) and a high 1:08 @ wakefield., but the engine developed a problem with the lifters and oil-rings so we decided to rebuild. From there things just snowballed. I kinda lost my way with no real plan, and ended up with a car that simply was not fun to drive on street - Im sure #@34GeeTeeTee can help me elaborate there... After just too many engine/tune issues, and now hating on the car, I took the car to JEM and they found major issues with the engine build.. So the decision was made to 'start from scratch'. Every item I am picking is to build an absolute street monster.. The NEW goals are; -Street Car, Understated but turns heads -Run in the 10's in the quarter mile in FULL STREET TRIM (ie street rubber, synchro gearbox and all) -Run a 1.04 to 1.05sec lap at wakefield.
  15. Looking forward to catchin up and seeing the car bro!
  16. Having real problems now.. I keep looking at Widebody kits... O_O ARGH! What to do...... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU~!
  17. ^ I think its got to do with the casting process and quality of steel used. The Tial housings dont seem too bad...seem to flow + spool better then the traditional T3.. not TS though..
  18. I called GCG and apparently they only have non-genuine T4 Divided housings to suit GT35's.
  19. Well 200kW @ 4,000rpm seems to be the benchmark for a quick street car.. Im glad the new turbo allowed you to punch well beyond the 200kW @ 4,000rpm barrier!
  20. I agree. I'd love to see something HTA3794 sized on a well built RB. Im rather sure I read that ETS and English Racing are running twin HTA3794's on thier street/drag R35 GTR.....
  21. When your making 280kW @ approx 4,000-4,100RPM and 390kW up top.. that is an AWESOME setup. Perfect for street/track/strip/life. I'f I owned a skyline, this is the setup I would go for.
  22. ^ Told ya so matty... HTA turbos FTW!
