Seen it now... Looks like something I used to draw in priimary school... also looks like something that might end in death in a smouldering wreck. -

Seems the delivery salmon finally made it to the mainland with video footage. ".....Tune in to 7 Mate on Saturday August 27 at 3:30pm to relive all the action from the first ever Targa High Country and at 4:30pm you can watch all the thrills and spills that was Targa Wrest Point 2011....." -

^^^^ Bahahaha.... What a setup. Now you certainly will know for sure if he does. Maybe "Matt Close in the Audi TTRS at Targa" couldnt drive a greasy stick up a dogs arse But apparently he can drive a ship up one. Love your work Matt if you are tuning in -

^^^^ Certainly. And I guess the severity of the understeer and the outcome (ie. near miss or shambolic car destruction...first one that comes to mind is "Closes Corner" on that dodgy tighter than you think right hand corner after the rail crossing) determines if it is understeer of fail or epic fail. -

Personally, if I was still runnning the EMO I would be happy with a 4 tyre rule as it seemed to be very easy on tyres and we could have easily got through on 4 this year. And it certainly does add an extra element taking a gamble on what you believe will be the fastest tyre that will get you to the end, manage your tyre wear during the event and also punt on weather conditions. But for the general field, I have to agree with Woo, unless the scruits are stopping them, guys will press on to the wet west coast on tyres they have gambled badly on that have been shagged on 3 days of dry in the east, hit standing water and have bad things happen. Despite the fact we didnt need them, we chose to fit fresh fronts just before hellyer (and the rain as forcast by TT's mothers brothers local fish and chip shop owner in Strahan ) just cause it couldnt be a bad thing. Fresh sharp edged tread tyres always offer up more grip in heavy water and having a car that will steer and is maybe a bit taily is always going to be better than understeer of fail into a rock wall or off an embankment. -

If any scruits had even bothered to lift the bonnet they would have seen my quad turbo setup.... -

Hmmmm. I think i have some idea of where the 1100kg might have come from. My service crew may have been guilty of adding some grist to the tassie targa fraternity rumour mill. Apparenbtly there was some chatter about my car when it was for sale and Greg got queried on it. When asked the weight his response was something along the lines of "I cant remeber if it was 1100kg with or without the crew in it." Farkin shit stirrer. -

Ah, the truth is finally out there about the engine. Yeah, he is definately talking shit. Feel free to pass on the pic of the weighbridge piccy below. Not tat it actually proves anything as the car isnt in the pic.(SMS's it to Snowy to wind him up) I think it weighed 1270 at THC when they put it on the scales. Have nothing to hide so would happily confirm the weight if it was 1100kg. In reality the time attack guys with fully gutted cars struggle to get to that weight. Dont hink I have actually ever heard of a 6 getting that light. maybe 1150... and Woo, you had me at cheap -

I will make no comment on the cosworth stroker crate motor but the car weighed near enough to 1260 at race weight. I weighed it after targa with a bit of stuff out of it at about 1245 -

I think I need a hug Selling the EMO has made me a little EMO, but I guess if I really want to, I can build another one even better than the last. -

Don't say that, I just sold the farkin thing lol Am now realising how much its going to cost to get anything remotely as fast. But hopefully I can build something relatively budget that's a bit of fun. -

^^^ Yeah, fingers crossed it will be broadcast on Speed channel or One HD. Certainly helps if you are trying to make a case for your sponsors. I am pretty sure either speed channel or one HD had been running repeats of the 2010 package. oh, and was pretty chuffed with the flames the emo was belching out on gear changes.... had no idea it did that.. -

Somehow I think that will be out of my budget. I am looking to do classic cause I am hoping it will be fun and cheaper than moderrn. At a rough guess I am thinking that thing will be R35 money. -

Just bought the targa 2011 DVD. There is a very nice panning shot of your 32 so that oughta keep the sponsors happy!!! ...that is if they ever televise it anywhere other than tasmania..... although I guess if they are a local sponsor, thats all you need. -

Now you are talking Looks like the C1 would fit classic just fine. There is a guy here in Perht with somethign along those lines with a nasty turbo motor in it. Paints some epic lines and goes like stink. My only concern with some (or alot) of the older stuff is how much of a nightmare parts for them will be... But nothing wrong with ze germans and their engineering. Sadly the e30 M3 doesnt qualify,(1986??) although I imagine you could steal all the good bits off one and have a 2.3-2.5 turbo motor instead of screaming NA goodness. Good discussion fellas. I need some inspiration. Had a mate trying to convince me that an escort could be the way forward. Which all sounds good but only if its one of these. This Colin fella seems to make them go OK. Apparently the proper dogs bollocks one is a kings ransom though.... http://youtu.be/Kli07_qcaOM BMW ALPINA C1 2,3 / 1 Based on BMW 323i (E30) 2-door Production 8/1983 - 11/1985 ALPINA Engine C1/1*: Cylinder 6 Capacity cm³ 2316 Max output kW/hp 125 / 170 Max torque Nm 225 Performance: Acceleration 0-100km/h s 7.8 Top speed km/h 213 Fuel consumption: at 90km/h l/100km 7.1 at 120km/h l/100km 9.1 Urban l/100km 13.9 -

^^^^ There are just so many ways to crash at Targa and sooo many variables. Even with the best intentions, some rain and a fluid spill or something else unexpected could easily have you off the road.... and then there is always the red mist to contend with if you get passed or are getting caught....
