I suppose it is an easy revenue raiser for the government, as most importers will just want to see their cars out of the port to avoid storage fees. I've thought about disputing this before, but considering how steep storage fees are.... the port is assured of revenue one way or another!

I used to send all my cars to adelaide and never had a problem here. I've started sending them to melbourne and every car has been "contaminated" I've sent one to sydney before and didnt have problem there either. I thought it might just be a Melbourne thing

Just wanted to check with other regular importers: Has anyone else been having a hard time with Melbourne AQIS? It seems every car that i have sent to Melbourne has been "contaminated" and requires quarantine cleaning. Its not cheap either at almost $200 per car. I have never had a problem with AQIS at any other port, so why is Melbourne so fussy? I have used the same japanese supplier all along, so its not like the quality of the cars/condition should influence this.
