The box is comming out ... we shall soon know the reason, id rather rebuild a gearbox that i know whats wrong with than buy a second hand box that could end up having the same problem. ill let everyone know what happens when its finished.

1990, 76000k's, the gear box has been silky smooth up till now.. its weird it also has a twin plate osgiken clutch, but that shouldnt have caused any reverse problems...

I can't believe it! Iv had the car for a week and after the first day the HICAS light comes on. That now seems the least of my problems. After its first long drive i find that it will not engage reverse, so i wait till it cools down and it goes in. ok so maby the oil is low and it over heated i think.... So i plan to change the oil but still drive it only on one more short trip. Now even after its stone cold it will not go into reverse. So today we change the oil even put some of the nulon stuff.... Well it goes better in all 5 foward gears but still no reverse... Im about to give up on owning a skyline, iv maxed out my resources (money) just to get the car, wich is sad because skylines are my biggest love, do i need a rebuild? I think maby its a bearing in the reverse shaft... I live in Quakers Hill, near blacktown. Wheres a good gearbox place near me? Any help would be appreciated!
