say for arguments sake adsl2 is available through TPG for example, and my house is just inside the exchange, probably about 5km away from it... Do you think that it'd be slower than normal ADSL?

why the f**k wouldn't you install the latest in brand new areas before there's even roads etc to worry about. pack of f**k wits

checked availability on their site, says ADSL is available, cable not available... guess that settles that

Ash, I meant my parents house where I live at the moment is around the corner from the exchange. My house is just inside the boundary according to some website thar was linked in the adsl thread a few weeks ago. Not sure what other options are available to me but need decent speed, adsl minimum, and decent download limit... Splitting the bill with housemates, so might be able to spend a bit more if necessary. What's better adsl2 or cable?

yeah but gotta work out what's available being a new estate etc...it's just inside the exchange which is around the corner from where I live now, so TPG etc won't guarantee speeds.....It might still be fine, and being ADSL2 even 'slow' would probably be quicker than normal ADSL, but it's not like you can try before you buy..
