  1. For example, at the moment Downer and Stowe have the lionshare of the work...Their guys get paid the same we do obviously. My company has most of the work at the airport, but those jobs are expected to finish mid year. Obviously there's always more work to be won at the airport, but it's not a given that the contractor their currently will get the next job... As my companies jobs finish, and if they don't win some more to keep the current amount of sparkies on the books, people will be made redundant (around 100 have already been made redundant in the 3.5 years I've been there) Some get re-hired, some are no good and don't come back, and others were just unlucky to be the one to go, and will more than likely get a job with whoever has most of the work at the time. It's pretty rare that someone in my industry works for one company their whole career
  2. Considering what our companies charge us out at, I don't think it's an issue. People get hired and fired with the rise and fall in work. It's the nature of the industry, the union doesn't stop it happening, they can't, they just see that the proper notice is given etc
  3. Unlikely champ. I knew from day one I was on good money. The very reason I chose commercial over being ass raped for $300 gross a week in domestic.
  4. Then piss and moan about it after the fact.
  5. I would LOVE to see you on one of the cable pulls we do on a regular basis. The heat off rule seems to be one of the go to things for you anti union guys, but you don't seem to mention that we have to wear full length clothing, as well as gloves hard hat and glasses, covering pretty much every area that heat escapes your body... How often does it hit 35 before 3pm anyway? It's a very rare occurrence, which means those days where it's 34.9 for most of the afternoon, we sweat it out in the heat. Rained off rule is even rarer. I'm yet to be rained off a job in almost 4 years. We pay for our RDOs so another great point there... Coz our job is guaranteed yeah... People get sacked in our industry on a regular basis. But I'm sure the media has told you the union protects us against that..
  6. A courier isn't exactly qualified or skilled... Nothing against them, we can't all be brain surgeons, but it's unskilled work nonetheless. I don't get the point of everyone telling me about all these hard and underpaid occupations/careers. They're underpaid, they choose to do nothing about it and cop it while their boss/employer takes home the cash. Unions allow workers to not just be bent over and f**ked in the ass by greedy employers and builders in my industry. They also put a big focus on safety, for real not just the shit you guys seem to think you know about, without having actually worked in construction. My mate did full time uni to be a high school teacher... He worked pretty much the same hours I did at the time. Half day of classes on a Wednesday and optional tutorial or lecture or something on one other day of the week... Hardly a gruelling task.
  7. I'll vote for the cock suckers that are going to f**k me the least. You'll just vote liberal regardless.....
  8. Domestic sparky (at the cheaper end of the scale) $70 call out + $70 an hour. Construction EBA, ~$44 an hour with a few other allowances. Bloody unions extorting the poor, poor builders and destroying the country. Masseuse, $60 an hour minimum, does 50 minutes of actual work in that hour. PT $60 an hour minimum, does an 8 week course to be a fitness expert. I wonder how many PT's and massage therapists died at work last year. I wonder how many of the companies they work for cut corners to save a buck while putting their lives at risk. I wonder how dangerous their workplace is on a daily basis.
  9. At least it'll be broadcast in HD now too.

  11. Seinfeld was terrible Which is why Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld have about $2 billion each and counting

  13. Got no connection points just the standard coax point for free to air at the moment...What's the phone line used for with Foxtel?
  14. What have you got plugging into the back of your Foxtel box? Thinking about doing the install myself, just not sure what's needed exactly
  15. I never find the time to read articles so I like the pre race... And I always watch a live stream, only using channel 10 for hd picture when they're not missing a 1/4 of the race through ad breaks... Plus with motogp and the AFL on foxtel, I don't mind paying
  16. Ric $amartgi$
  17. Rich parents... Like this chick I know, works casual at Aldi while she studies...Has had boob and nose jobs, in Australia, no Thailand 1/4 of the price jobs... Tells me she worked hard and saved etc. Yeah you saved your $300 a week and spent $20k+ on surgery, as well as a Europe trip this year, and bigger tits next year...
  18. f**k Channel 10, it's about time they lost the righs (albeit only partially). I'm guessing Foxtel will show all the pre race stuff from the UK guys, which shits all over the four and half minute pre race that Rust and Jones do these days on 10.
  19. He works at target? Or is the general manager of target?
  20. I was gonna get it for the AFL anyway so this just seals the deal. It's absolute shit for shows and movies though so I'll just get sports/AFL
  21. Looks like I'll be getting foxtel... Every session live this year
