what you save on purchasing the Jz will spend and more on the conversion talk to some mechanics on the cost of converting first remember that although the SR or RB maybe a 500-1000 more expensive to buy, it is a straight fit im thinking to shoehorn a toyota engine in a nissan is a few grand enterprise Food for thought RellikZephyr

no no when i had the problem it occured because i cleaned the butterflies check that your butterfly is fully closed on idle RellikZephyr

also the servicing you all metioned should be done even more regularly than you thought because it is a highly modified example the more power you make, the more you have to service her to keep her from going bang (more power creates alot more stresses) but other than that it seems like a good car for a good price as with any car best way to know is to check it out ... compression test, leak down test, etc ... i changed from Redline Oil to Royal Purple Redline is great but due to the fact it is designed for racing it must be changed out more than regularly (degrades faster) i would say Royal Purple is better, but thats just my opinion, plus it doesnt degrade after 2000k (i service every 5000) same with gear oils, Redline is great but degrades way to fast, Royal Purple is just as good or better and lasts far longer i had Redline Shockproof Oil in my gearbox and the oil was stuffed by 8000k, changed to Royal Purple and still great after 7000k Prob not as bad with motor oil but same thing Cheers RellikZephyr

check the position of your throttle buttefly i had the same prob a while ago idle at 1800 problem tracked down to 2 small vacuum leaks and the butteflies were slightly open (but mine GTR so 6 slightly open was letting a fair whack of air in) i cleaned my intake and with gunk gone, thats what left small gaps between butteflies, cleaned yours recently?? i found i got to much wheelspin doin limiter launches (strip not quite a grippy as road) about 5800-6k is the best spot to launch mine i found (on Potenza GIII's and OS Giken twin plate clutch) with that little bit less wheelspin she hooked up bit quicker did limiter launch ran 12.88 did a 6k launch got 12.76 and i change gears earlier cause you can feel when she goes past her peak torque (mine approx 7500) and thats when i change RellikZephyr

i have found dont go below 20psi on street tyres (good for slicks) but with street tyres below 20psi you start to lose the bonus of letting them down (something to do with the fact they are steel belted) the best pressure is 22-25psi (depending on day) also if you have aftermarket clutch you should be launching at about 6k for best launch (handbrake on let out clutch till just enguaging then just drop and release handbrake) , with a 4.5k launch you will be dropping of boost for short period (destroys your ET) i stuffed a launch once revs dropped to 2500 and did a 13.6 also with your trap speed of 106mph you should be running mid-high 12's i have done a 12.7, with 60ft = 1.8 trap speed = 105mph mods were turbo back zorst, pod filters (no shield) , 11psi boost, tune (car prob made 205rwkw) and full pressure tyres (36psi) but it is simple as Practice makes Perfect ... play with revs on launch, dont wait till limiter to change gear (i change at 7200-7500) should be changing just after your peak power/torque and most of all ... have fun ... but thats not hard when you own a skyline hope that helps Cheers RellikZephyr

the power to weight ratio law applies for a particular reason if it was no v8,turbos or supers but everything else is ok that means you could drive a porche on a P-plate and im sure a young driver could quite easly kill thmeselves and others in a porche and you also couldnt drive a Smart car (800cc 3-cylinder turbo making about 50hp) thats why the power to weight laws apply and will stay RellikZephyr
