Soft Or Hard Springs, Tech Heads Plz Read
RellikZephyr replied to ELI's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
my suspension is 12kg front and 9kg rear and they are WAY too stiff no comfort level at all and lose out in handling because they soo stiff the car "bounces" round corners NOT COOL am changing to Tein Super Streets soon 5kg front 4kg rear i wouldnt go for that setup personally, unless its a dedicated track/drift car (even then you prob be better with 8/6) RellikZephyr -
hmmm...ok... my gtr oil pressure lives on 2kg is that a low (bad) pressure? mines rock solid on 2kg doesnt move up or down...is that bad?? mmm...youve got me a little worried now RellikZephyr
-
do you mean whiteline springs on G4 coilovers?? probably but... Why?? better to go full whiteline really you can specifically order certain spring rates when you buy new coilovers RellikZephyr
-
i got D2's in my gtr (stupid insurance would fork out for teins, Had ARC beforehand) D2's are pretty much the same as G4 (just diff colour) and yeah they are WAY to stiff for daily ... might be alright for track you shouldnt really trust a coilover that hides behind HUGE spring rates soon im goin for Tein Super Streets go to Nengun they got Tein Super Streets delivered for like $1500 Check it out not a good idea to skimp on one of the most important parts of your car i.e. Suspension Cheers RellikZephyr

yes Royal Purple i would say is a better product than Redline i have also heard that thing about Redline with newer gearboxs i would say that Royal Purple is as good as Redline in the smoothness of the gearbox BUT Royal Purple has this thing they called "Synerlec" which claims to Polish the metal as it lubricates and i have a test thing they done with it and it did exactly that didnt wear at all but polished the metal (can post it up if you want) it also has a friction additive in it called "Synslide" Sorry for the blatent plug but just stating why its my opinion that Royal Purple is better Hope it helps RellikZephyr

make sure you use the Super Lightweight Shockproof (its a 75w90) the lightweight shockproof (75w140) is too heavy and makes it hard to put into gears when warmed up and i dont believe the oil needs to be run in but it cant hurt behaving for 100-200 K's EDIT: Redline is a very good way to go top stuff! but me personally would go Royal Purple MaxGear and yes i would go all out the better the oil... the less wear... the longer and healthier the gearbox lives RellikZephyr

for the catch can just put a little filter over the vent and youll be fine there RellikZephyr

why is it people are SO quick to crap on a product with high claims rather than accept it or even give it the benifit of the doubt i read most of that thread and everyone that used it didnt say a bad thing about it i think i might try it just curious as to who is a QLD supplier (central queensland if possible) RellikZephyr

11.25psi that seems like one very accurate guage RellikZephyr

i was just reading the Garrett website site and it says that the 2860R-7 is quote... "OEM on Nissan RB26DETT used in Skyline R34 GT RN-1" now i heard/knew nissan used garrett for their factory turbos and is that saying that the 34 GTR N1 turbo and the 2860R-7 is one and the same? EDIT: Anyone with 34 N1 Turbos, where is 1 Bar boost available on stock engine? 3500? 4000? Thanks RellikZephyr
-
all this talk about power with these turbos... which of the turbos (t517z, GT-SS, 2860-7, 2860-5) would be the most responsive?? what exactily are each individual power ratings GT-SS - 300ps or 320ps ?? 2860-7 - 290ps or 310ps ?? im not chasing big power figures want as little lag as possible but still decent power upgrade from standard prob dont want more than 300awkw sorry for all the questions RellikZephyr
-
sorry mate dont rightly know when my syncros went i bypassed all the headaches and got a whole new box Sorry RellikZephyr
-
yep its the syncros prob only happens on high rev changes or quick changes if its only a little crunch they might only just be on their way out Redline Superlight weight Shockproof Gear Oil will help the problem but not fix it...to fix it you will need new syncros i believe they go for about $120 per syncro then add labour costs and possibly new bearings might be needed (usually are) RellikZephyr
