  3. EMP = electrical magnetic pulse But the gun in the movie is strictly fictional. How can they shut down the car in 3 stages, they made it look like it taped into the engine management and started to close it down in stages ... there are real devices like it but they just fry the electrical system, not shut it down in stages .. but only in america .. a necleur bomb will stop a cars electrical system .. hahaha and the explosion will do the rest ...
  4. Hey i got the turbo off of my rb25det and i was wondering what is the go with opening them up. Since its off anyways i wouldnt mind removing the rusty parts and getting them sandblasted on the outside so i can paint them .. Is this a risky thing taking of the rear turbine housing ? what about the core, i take it that this is where the shaft is fixed into place.. Also what about removing the front alloy compressor cover so i can polish it up ? What kinda gaskets will i run into if this can be done safely ? Does anyone hapen to have any pictures of there turbo opened up or in peices ? I read in a old zoom mag about porting and fitting a new wastegate yourself.. anyone read this ? good idead or bad ... OR SHOULD I JUST NOT TOUCH THE TURBO AT ALL !!
  5. Hey i just got my exhaust manifold and dmp pipe sandblasted for $25 and danm they look shit hot compared to the rusty things i dropped off to them. Now the exhaust manifold still had the 4 studs for the turbo in it and they got sandblasted as well, so should i get 4 new studs for it now because the coating is taken off the studs and they will more than likely rust up ? and also will the flanges need to be machined because the sandblasting leaves the the flanges with a matt finish compared to the shiny machined finish.. the surface looks like a sheet of 1500 - 2000 grit wet and dry so its still very smooth ..
  6. I removed the turbo and exhaust manifold to get to mine .. See if you can find a place that has reverse drill bits and make sure its a cobolt tipped one (i think thats what they are called) cos otherwise you blunten alot of normal drill bits trying to drill a hole in the studs .. Hey by the way im one of the most lazyest bitches cos i still havent put the car back togeter yet .. i was thinking of getting the manifold sandblasted while its off so i can paint it .. anyone know its its ok to sandblast it inside and out ? and will the sandblasting afect the manifold flanges ie will i have to get it machined if sandblasted?

  8. how did u do it with it still on the car ? what about the alloy fileings! Wouldnt lots of filings go right down into the exhaust ports and get caught it the valves ?

  12. Well i think im goin to get the center peice and the 2 front pieces shortened on the bottoms and the rears will just need the end plate on a different angle ... its a shame though .. to cut up a nice cage ...
  13. If you didnt have to buy a new head gasket when you remove the head i would grind and polish it all up myself... bit of a pain .. maybe one day when i need to rip the head ill do it ... I got a question, ive got my exhaust manifold off at the moment and i was wondering if its a good idea to grind and smooth the inside of the manifold since its off anyways? Another question i got is on the manifolds turbo outlet there is a divider in the middle that seperates the pipes - OOO|OOO - anyone know if i can play around with that ? eg. like make it a knife edge or totaly remove it ... It has a slot in the middle of the divider as well ...
  14. thanks, i ended up getting it out by ligtly hammering a flathead screwdriver into the hole .. Another question is should i use anything on the new studs? one guy told me i need locktite, another guy told me to use an anti seize on the studs before putting them in ... so which is it? from the looks of the old studs there is nothing used on te threads.. Also does anyone know the correct torque for putting the studs in ?
  15. hey i had 2 broken studs on my exhaust manifold (broken off rigt in, no stud sticking out to grab onto). I managed to remove one of them but while i was drilling a small hole in the center of the second one te drill bit snapped and there is no possible way to get the broken bit out so that means i carnt drill into the stud to remove it . So does anyone have any ideas how to get it out ? its not seized in there cos before the bit broke off i could unscrew it a few turns before it gets tight but i couldnt get a good enough grip on it to unscrew it out completely. I know that a mig could tack enough metal so that i could undo it but i onl have an arc here and that would just stuff it up. I dont wana have to remove the head so i can take it somewhere to get done so i was wondering what ideas do you guys have ?
  16. Hey i have done a seaarc but couldnt find what diff fluid i should use in my r33 gtst auto.. I have seen brands mentioned but nothing that has the viscous ratings .. eg 90-140 ... can anyone tell m which fluid to buy..
  17. Hey i got a R33 GTST and i want to know what other mods i need to have in order to go an aftermarket turbo. I currently have a FMIC, SAFC, pod filter and a cat back exhaust. Do i need to have aftermarket injectors & fuel pump ? Do i need an aftermarket ECU or will the SAFC be ok ? The car is an Automatic so getting an aftermarket ECU will be a hastle..

Hey i had 2 studs broken off my exhaust manifold, 1 at the front and 1 at the back, there was carbon all round where the studs were broken and i could smell fumes, so i removed the exhaust manifold and sure enoughthe gasket looked shiny and new except the front and the back one which were half shiny and half carbon, i wiped the one that carbon on it and now it looks brand new like the rest, no breaks or blow outs at all, the turbo to manifold one still looks good also. So whats the go with gaskets can you reuse some of them (im pretty sure u have to replace manifold ones regardless) but what about the turbo to manifold one if it was good before you took the turbo off ? I got quoted these prices from nissan (give or take a dollar) Exhaust Manifold Gasket - $115 Manifold to Turbo - $40 Turbo to Dump Pipe- $35 Dump to Engine Pipe - $20 Engine to Cat - $25 Intercooler to Turbo - $10

I took my cam cover off before to fix the leak i have at the back and when i was wiping oil off from around the gasket face a small milipeede droped into the one of the gallery areas under the cam and he went crawlin down into god knows where ... Will a small milipeede do any damage to my motor at all ?

  21. Hey i aquired a cusco 6/7 point rollcage for my r33 and i ran into a bitch of a problem ... it wont fit in cos i have a sunroof and it makes the headliner sit down lower. I done a bit of searching on the net and it seems that East Bear has a rollcage for a sunroof equipped r33, when ordering you just specify if you have a sunroof and they will send you the sunroof model .. Damn im so pissed that it doesnt fit. And b4 anyone says "why do you need a rollcage for .. blah blah weight... etc etc" i can almost guarantee that if you got it as cheep as i did and you seen how mad it lookes (virtualy brand new) i bet you would have got it too .. At first i thought i could just maybe get a new middle made up and the rest would fit but im not too sure now after takin the sunroof out to see how much lower i need it .. So what do i do ... i wouldnt even consider buying one new from East Bear cos i bet they are very very pricey. So i thought that maybe some importers may have one that they have taken out of a car to get it complianced.. What do you hink my chances are ?? Also if anyone out there has a sunroof in there car with a rollcage in it i would be foreva in your debt it you could take heaps of pics of it for me so i can get a rough idea of how it all sits .. So does anyone got one (fingers crossed) or know where i could get on to fit my car ?????????????????????

But im in Ballarat and it is about an hour and 15mins drive away just to get to sunshine let alone northcote.. Would you consider meeting me half way or something if i definatly want to buy it ?
