You can run up to 275s on a 9 inch rim. Recommended 9.5inch rim for this size On a 9 inch rim 255s are spot on, 265s slightly bigger, 275s bulgy but no problem (im running them now)

Yeah if you ask Lumpy (hyperdrive) nicely he may do it for u, just dont say who told u that he does a good job on them I also agree the dwell time on the spark will make the coils crack along with a few other combinations but the wolf3d standard r33 ignition program is pretty well on the money, mes betting u may have a faulty loom.
