Engine's Out - What Else Should I Consider?

Rips NZ do a sump extension, they are alloy (not cast) internally baffled etc.. Rob added a temp sensor bung and a couple of #10 bungs aswell for oil return and crank vent.. it worked out cheaper then buying one here due to the $AUD-$NZ. To get the top bolts out you need a few meters of socket extensions (wobble extenstions worked best for me) tilt the motor and box back to gain access from the rear. you have to undo the engine mounts first. Did you take the starter motor and the shifter off? If its a pull type clutch did you take the clutch fork or release bearing off? Once everything is unbolted, Rotate the box 180 (or 90 cant remember) degrees so the bellhousing clears the firewall and it should slide out... -

Remove it all together mate, Take your time and angle it right.. Undo the front driveshafts (6 bolts on the passengers side) and on the drivers side you'll have to remove the lower control arm and caster rod and lever it out of the shaft bracket. (looks like a circle with a triangle shape on the inner) Then remove the front cover off the sump and undo the circlip that holds the shaft inplace and it will slide out. Then do the norm.. all piping, wiring, engine mounts, rad, clutch fan, etc... Cheers Johno -
