99cents a litre vs $12 a litre for C16! The EVO's that we dual map tune about lose approximately 40km's a tank on E85 compared with 98, yet they gain around 40kW at all four. I know what I'd rather have. Thanks for that info Justin, if you could get it to hold that extra couple of pounds up to you would see a gain again, still think it has to be something holding it back because the turbo is nowhere near its capability. You could still run a stock engine on E85 and make awesome power, more and more tend to be taking advantage of the factory Nissan strength. Who would have thought we'd be pushing 400kW on a stock SR bottom end? Would like to see what an RB26 could do with the same treatment!

Nismoid, like I said before, for pump fuel, a smaller turbo would be ideal. However, it does sounds to me like Justin has a restriction, there is no way the boost should be tapering off at that power and boost level. Power = flow. A 3076 is rated to 525hp, meaning it would need less boost to get it in its spot, there's a reason why turbochargers are rated in power For 280kW on an RB, I sure as hell wouldn't use a GT-RS, It'd be GT3071R. You would not need a $5k head setup, not one of the cars we have tested has that, not even my own engine, you guys need to understand that 20+ psi on E85 is not big boost at all. Standard unopened motors is exactly what I meant. I understand you find it a bit hard with what E85 is capable of, however I've been on it for 2 years, work in a performance shop that tunes it all day. I've seen what it can do, I've seen engines pulled apart after being flogged on it and for that reason and I'll never go back to 98! Annnnyway! Got lots of fast cars to make people happy before X-mas so gotta get back to it. Keep on smiling
-
20psi is on the higher end of the boost region for a Nissan running standard comp, but is by no means high boost for the turbo's that people have traditionally run such as T78's, T88's, T04Z's, GT35's, even 3076R's. Times have changed guys, we have better turbo's, better fuel and greater tuning knowledge. If you're happy to stick with 98 and 98 only, then you probably shouldn't be using anything over a turbo rated to 450hp-500hp
-
Zebra, turbochargers are designed to work within a specific band which is boost dependent. Running a bigger turbo with less boost does not necessarily mean you will make more power on the same boost level! TRUST ME! We run good fuel and correctly sized exhaust housings to combat heat

George, if you've been following this thread, you'll see that the whole 'stock' engine thing wrong, if you have access to E85 and want to go fast then you should be using it! It's the best, safest thing for us turbo heads. Pump fuel is ALWAYS going to be a limiting factor on a small engine. If your tuner knows what he's doing you can make very good power on stock engines with good fuel. Ever seen the yellow S15 that had the number plates VOZ-000? Had a stock RB25 in it on E85 and ran low 10's, 500hp @ wheels through the auto all day on E85. And as for the way turbo's are marketed, they are performance turbochargers after all, people put them on to go fast and use them to their potential, if that requires a higher boost level then sobeit, after all a 5557 is still a 570hp turbo! Please don't take this personally guys, if you plan to limit yourselfs to low boost you should be running a SMALLER turbo to suit your application. But Ryno, your GT-RS will tap out at 250kW, whereas the on his car will make 400kw! More times than not, something comes at a cost!

Hey Justin, what waste gate and manifold are you running?

Seriously Dave, as if 460rwkw is going to be enough for you!

Hey people, After upgrading the setup again, I have decided to let go of this magnificent combo. It has travelled 8,000k's and has aside from one broken rocker arm from a missed shift at the strip, it has never missed a beat. Most people know the car, many of you have seen it perform. I have run a 9.6 second pass @ 144 mph on radials in the S13 on 609hp, since then it has made 651hp (486kW) at the wheels and run 148.98mph through the traps. That means it has the potential to run a low 9 in a full weight street car and drive home from the track like nothing happened. Despite the level of mods, it putts around like a normal SR with cams, doesn't get hot, doesn't chew oil, starts every morning and absolutely punishes just about anything that comes near it. This is the heart of the fastest 4 cylinder in the country on radials, without the use of nitrous. Not for an inexperienced driver, I cannot stress that enough! I will give the purchaser a full spec list, but will give you a basic list. Please don't pick my brain for the finer details, as it took R & D to get this right. Built by Advance Motor Mechanics in Strathfield at a cost of double the asking price. It includes: Tomei pistons 20thou over Tomei Rods HKS Cams, valve springs Tomei head gasket Ported and polished head ACL Race bearings Nitrided crank Precision billet turbocharger (less than 500km's old) 6Boost Twin scroll manifold Twin Tial external wastegates and screamer pipes Bored out GReddy plenum Plazmaman 72mm throttle body customised to fit plenum Sard fuel rail Bosch ID2000 injectors Trust baffled, extended sump Tuned by JEM on E85 Performance: 485kW on 39psi (E85) Makes 20psi @ 4500 and 280kW The engine is among the most lively available, also have a smaller exhaust housing which would bring the powerband 500rpm lower and make it mega zippy for those who are lag conscious. This is an 8 second setup in a lighter car and it will do it all day. If you're considering building something big, save yourself a fortune and the guesswork with this proven combo, I can guarantee you there is no faster street SR than this in the country. Obviously there is more to mention, if you are seriously interested give me a call on 0430 767 845. Serious enquiries only please, I did advertise it last year and had plenty of dreamers (understandably) Can be seen on this link 15 second in To be featured in upcoming Motive DVD Drag Challenge (March 2011) NO EXPENSE SPARED, ONLY THE BEST OF THE BEST PARTS FROM JAPAN AND THE USA! Cheers, PJ

Gt-r / Gts-t 5th Gear Strength, Anyone Broken One?
PJ. replied to PJ.'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yep Duncan, you're right, wheelspin in 4th, didn't end up trying but probably could have come close to topping 5th although the brakes would have got a good workout. -
Auto Diff 4.3.1 Ratio Any Good For Drag
PJ. replied to 17psi r33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
It was definitely worth a couple of tenth with my setup, and I was running the 255/55/16's too, they are a pretty tall tyre so it is important that you put that 4.3 in. Trust me!! See my first post for rpm jump @ 100km/h -
Auto Diff 4.3.1 Ratio Any Good For Drag
PJ. replied to 17psi r33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
It comes down to your tyre size and where your car makes power to. For me it was a big improvement over the 4.11's, difference is a couple of hundred revs @ 100km/h but was noticeable at the drags, whereas I used to cross the line not long after I shifted 4th, I was crossing right up near redline. If you find you aren't right up the top end of your powerband in 4th, definitely do it. -

Hahaha I don't know if I'm allowed to say comment until the release date? Either way it was lots of fun, had a ball. 148.98mph on one of the runs through the traps in the 1/4 Can't wait to head to WSID again. -
This engine doesn't have valve springs, don't think they'd be loving life right now. It would be to interesting to see if the power would hold flat then (some studs and a head gasket would help us too) We'll log it @ the track for you Can't wait it should see close to 135mph trap speed!
-
Sorry Justin, I'm not sure, we didn't log the revs on the dyno, but the day before it had 20psi @ 4000rpm or 4100rpm Zebra, T4 V-band .58, .68
-
Our sensor is broken so there is no correction at all. We'll take it to the strip to prove the power for you. hopefully on Wednesday if it survies the flogging on Tuesday. Car has gone 125mph with 290kW so far Simon, the 31psi is real, trust me if it was more we wouldn't be afraid to tell you, we like boost here
-
Not at this stage, the smallest turbo we can offer in TS is a 6265 Simon, it was on 31psi in the end, on 20psi it made 297kW at the wheels
-
After looking at the graph this morning, Chea though there was a bit more in it Starting to lift the head at that power so we're gonna have to leave it there for now. Have the Motive drag challenge next week, after that put a Tomei head gasket on and a 6262SP!! I'll start making the vid 5757SP, 6262SP, 76HP
-
After seing this result, the answer would be def the 5557, 0.63 rear. Got my 0.70 exhaust housing today, now we can have a much fairer matchup for the T04Z with the smaller 6265.
-
I was going to mention Dave's nice effort (0.82), my HKS 3037S made 376kW on the same dyno on my SR, but it had a 1.12 a/r exhaust housing, so given what it is, the 5557 has shocked us. It's coming on way before my 3037S and making the power. If you really want to make a more fair comparison to the 3076R/3037S we should be comparing the BB version on the 5557 where I'm sure it will ABSOLUTELY wipe the floor in every way. I've seen enough proof already :) There is a safe limit to pump fuel tuning (I'd say not a huge amount past 300kW on an a 2L SR before you enter grenade land ) so if we wanted pump fuel results, we're best off comparing much smaller turbos that aren't capable of a lot more than that (for an SR20 anyway) might be a good comparo for an RB25 though Will post up some results and a vid for you today guys
-
FOUND ONE. Thanks
-
Yeah dude, we nearly fell over! Actually it was a combo of 1) the power it made and 2) the fact the engine internally is bone stock (aside from drop in cams) and is holding together!
-
Wow that's impressive, that would have to be the most power I've ever seen out of a 3037S period! No dynajet mate, Dyno Dynamics, how much boost?
-
Lith, good luck making that power with a 52 trim!
