The R32 Rb20 has less ariflow than the Rb25 in the R33 gtst and as such the turbo can tollerate a little higher boost, as at the same pressure the Rb20 airflow is lower meaning less shaft speed on the turbine. Less power too.

remaps are great if they are within budget. Certainly better than the S-AFC.

Although it's true that as these cars are getting old, there is no point replacing coild and things till it's showing signs of being rooted. The stock setup is mint. certainly good enough to punt you well past 350rwkw, the factory coils are as good as you get when working. There is absolutely no benifit in terms of power if the exsisting stock system is healthy.

retarding the exh-cam on non-neo engines broadens the power band. Neo's appear not to benifit. Typically on a factory ecu you will not require a tune to gain some benifit, except to ensure the timing is set correctly. It does have an effect on AFR's however that mean tuning will give more benifit again. The process is to bung it on. Get the S-AFC or similar and then get the tune done. The 4 deg setting will not require alteration in this config as there are plenty of examples that have resulted in the consensus around the degrees to set it. On the other posts so far a few comments; * A word on the JJR dump pipes; From my own experience they are crappy, typically you need to take to them with a die grinder to fix the careless welding and alignment of flanges. * As mentioned the FMIC at this stage isn't required. You may like to go a bigger turbo in the future of course but, decide on the intercooler once you are certain of the rest of the setup. Down the track you may change your mind. You may start off thinking hiflow and street but,may end up T88 and drag. * 10psi is as much as you need to be running on the turbo.Although the factory ecu copes with that but, an adjustment to fuel mixtures is going to capture the greatest benifit. * 1 bar is a sure way to end the turbo life as it corresponds to increased turbine shaft speed and load once the airflow increases. Like a few people I have been a member of this forum since it started and the "1 bar is safe" idea is well and truely shot to peices based on the history of wrecked factory turbos. Remember that ceramic dust can get into the motor when the turbine fails so you lose more than just the turbo if you are unlucky. I think you have some good ammo to go start buying parts now. Happy hunting

you have some good little mods to start with. Here's a few to have a crack at; 1) ($250) Turbo dump pipe + heat wrap (very good mod) . The factory cast unit is rather crappy. You will pick up a little earlier boost and some power throught the rpm range. 2) ($125) Adjustable exhaust cam gear set to 4deg retard. Expect 10-15rwkw gain across the power band. 3) ($600 inc tune) S-AFC II or similar. Depending on other factors will give you 10-20rwkw , again across the power band. * The R34 smic is a very good unit for the stock turbo and is presently not holding you back at all. With these bits and some decent tyres and perhaps some pineapples ($90) you have an oppertunity to crack 12's on the 1/4 driven correctly. Thats your $1k spent.

Don't know how easy it is? Seems like it's not as easy as a gtr to run 11's at least? The standard supra gearbox seems to have less strength than the gtr gearbox too. Alot more to a car than just it's engine is the moral of the story I think.

Don't seem to be very easy to go quick in on the drags without some tyre changing at the track? At least these are what times the WA cars run. Decent, just not what I was expecting with all the hype? http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=40790

I did like the TVR too. Only because it's a raw bastard of a car. I was going to get a 'wedge' a long while back and later tried out a cerbera but, really they do have a peice of crap build quality, even the Cerbera. Although the sound is pretty intoxicating the cars aren't real great to drive frequently. It's good to try them out but, by the end of the drive even a good one gives you the impression your R32 gtst is a much better car in pretty much every way. I drove a datsun 1200 ute with a turbo A14 for a few months just because as a young lad I always wanted one. It was fun but, basically sucked unless your a midget and enjoy smelling exhaust fumes while you drive. Character wise I'd say the good old chook cars I had in the past do a better job than the TVR's. My old RX2 or RX4 coupes were what the TVR does try but, fail at. Mad, crazy no safety belt style speed. My favorite character car in recent times has been my old Volvo station wagon with the worked V8 in it. I could drive that thing forever it had so much appeal. Every morning I'd get up and it would make me laugh just to look at it. All it needed was a light weight LS1 or better a Indy Maxx alloy big block hemi and a manual gearbox. So I've just disqualified myself from being taken seriously

What is the character of the GTR? If it was a person what would it be like? It's like a friend that likes to take you for a thrash Gives you a hand driving as fast as you can and trys its best not to kill you. On the other hand a spirited car like a TVR looks at you with contmept. It despises you so much that it's prepared to smash itself to bits just to kill or maim you.

I think the LF-A is a lexus release only?

So the New GTR and the new supra v10 becomes.... A toyota = JZ thread. fan boi fan boi Fan boi fan boi fan boi
-
Supras are the best car of the two for neons.
-
At least my thread was really stupid. Why can't they swap areas and put mine back in general automotive and put this in the wasteland? Surely there is some 'cool' mod who likes a bananna to become general?
-
had my drivers window smashed to bits on my R32 GTR by punk kids. I'm covered by insurance but, I am waiting 3 weeks for the new glass. Not fun.
-
YEAH ! FULLY SIK SUPRA ALL THE WAY ! Put a big wing on it. Some neons And NAWZZZ doi doi doi :P

I think he made a mistake. no doubt he meant RB25
-
Well there are some drawbacks with the stocker R32's despite the gearbox ratios the gearboxes are weak. Despite the weight saving the chassis stiffness needs a little more help and they are less aerodynamic. The brakes are also not as good. Depending on what you do tho' those things may not actually matter.

Qtr Mile Times For My 32 Gtr?
rev210 replied to NoFX_Hardcore's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
107mph is an easy 12 sec mph even with a rwd car, actually -
Didn't take you long did it Roy? Ha ha I have to say owning the R32 gtst was a good experience. The beauty of the Rb20 is the low cost replacement meaning you can lean on them with little fear of financial backlash I think if your going to stay at or below 240rwkw the RB20 with the right turbo doesn't make a bad unit for a budget compromise, on standard internals.
-
My old r32 gtst had basic mods and the factory Rb20 turbo and ran mid/low 13's. A friend was able to run a 12.9 with his. Since you are 6ft+ Go the R33 , unless you bolt some GTR seats in you are going to struggle for comfort without slouching.

Advantages Of 100mm And 70mm Intercooler?
rev210 replied to Styline GTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
No if you agree with him you should never point it out or admit to it. -
I've owned both and the R33 is what I would preffer over the 32 just being taller mainly. If you care the R33 will return better fuel ecconomy. they are similar in performance.
