simplest explanation for what cubes is saying. get a drinking straw and say, a toilet paper roll... (sounds stupid already eh? ) imagine the drinking straw is the RB20 head, and the roll is the RB25 head, blow through the straw, you get minimal flow and very high pressure at the end, now do the same with the roll, higher flow at a lower pressure. again, thats a very crude explanation, but thats how i see it, lol. but onto the subject at hand, the RB23/4, bang for buck, just isnt going to cut it. if i was in your position, id definitely be going for the RB25/30 combination with a DE head (id imagine the non turbo nomenclature would make them cheaper as a bonus compared to DET heads). get a '30 block, non turbo should be right, but if you can find a turbo block for the right price, snap it up, bolt the 25DE head on top, strap a turbo and fmic on it, and enjoy life. and if youre worried about the 30 blocks just going pop from age, log onto the 31 club forums (clicky), and have a look through the members ride section (youll need to sign up) or through the technical sections, a lot of members have turbo'd their 300,000+ km RB30E's without any problems. i think 'SLO-031' is running close to 400rwkw with a near 300,000 km engine, on close to standard internals (afaik, only pistons have been changed.)

he just used a very narrow field of focus. love the 3rd and the last pics mate, good stuff!

.... why did this turn into a 2JZ vs the world pissing contest? my opinions on the car this thread is actually about (incase anyone forgot), its a good idea, buts its been poorly executed. if the base car was infact a GTR, then in my opinion, its a waste of both a GTR and an engine. now to the agument at hand; what engine is better is all a matter of personal opinion. for me, its the RB26 in a GTR, i love the way they go. but i can accept the fact that a 2JZ is infact better engineered than an RB series engine. you can be throwing rods out the side of the block in an RB when a 2JZ will be quite happy making that power. why dont HKS etc use the RB25? i dont know, and i dont care. and if you wanna see a well engineered engine, Nissan VH41DE FTW and to starion turbo; this pointless argument has gone on long enough. either post some time slips or stfu.

Whats Your Top 3 Favourite Game Series
scandyflick replied to Cooper's topic in PC & Games Discussion
1: Final fantasy Series. thousand of hours invested into the FF series! FFVII, although its gettin a bit long in the tooth, im still playing it, finished it countless times, 1,000+ in this game since it was first released... and i still havent finished everything!! FFVIII, was a serious let down. Played it once, finished practically everything, never touched it again. probably the least time ive ever spent on a game. FFIX, ranks just as well as FF7, countless hours spent there, only finished it 3 times, but its got lots of years left in it! FFX, kinda like FFVII, you could spend thousands of hours playing it, and youd probably still miss something. about 300 hours into that since it was released... FFX-2, didnt interest me a great deal, never finished it, loaned it to a friend about a week after i got it, still havent got it back, might get it back next week n try to finish it. Ill be gettin myself a copy of the dirge of cerberus in a few weeks, hopefully its as good as FFVII.... 2: Metal Gear Solid. 5 minutes into playing the first MGS game, i was hooked, the battles, the twists in the storyline, loved it all, even the hours of frustration the first time i attempted to defeat Rex special missions, MGS2, Substance, Snake eater, Subsistence, played em all, while not as involving as the FF series, so easy to lose track of time, cant wait for the next! 3: Gran Turismo. I think its pretty self explanatory! yes, im a bit of a game nerd 3 different versions? details? -
spotted [GODZILA] at munno para about 30 minutes ago.

6 drop outs in an hour starting to annoy me. edit, its getting worse. its dropping out, then reconnecting... at 1mbps... and staying there. with occasional bursts out to 24mbps... i feel like throwing this thing out the window.
-
i dont know if i should be glad or not about the fact that im not the only one getting this...
-
h'ok, this is going to sound fairly stupid... anyways, ive been having a problem with my wireless connection on my laptop, it keeps randomly jumping on and off the network. there doesnt seem to be any pattern in it, just randomly hops off and takes a while to reconnect. no freakin idea whats happening, so i was wondering if anyone would know what i have to check/correct to get it running properly (ive tried the belkin service line with no results... it'd help if they answered their phones... ) thanks in advanced guys. dave.

Luckiest Bastard In The World, I Mean Australia
scandyflick replied to GTR Power's topic in General Automotive Discussion
its good, but aint THAT good. -
i daresay the 33 would be faster. that extra 500cc's has to count for something. yeah, a 2WD is going to be slower off the mark than an AWD, but they can be more fun
-
GTS, GTS-t, GT-t, GT-x, etc etc are all 2WD. the GTR and GTS-4's are AWD. and any GTR you pick up under 20k is bound to have some serious issues. R32 GTS-t's, and the R33 equivalent will be your best bet. unless you wanna look a bit more retro. local R31's can be picked up for a few hundred dollars these days, can be easily turbocharged, and aren't bad looking either. the Jap equivalents (available in coupe, sedan, pillarless sedan, wagon) can be had for a few thousand, spend the rest on updating the engine, suspension, brakes, etc. most of the later model gear can be fitted to the old 31's. but to tell you this now, even you get yourself a mint R32 GTR, unless its been modified a bit, itll probably get its ass handed to it by a new SS in a straight line.
-
*sigh* if all you wanna do is drag commo's at the lights. buy a commo.
-
but the flip side to that is that you dont need to open up the engine when you start chasing big horsepower like youd have to with a nissan engine.
-
not to mention they got steel wheels on the turbos... *sigh*
-
*Standard... forget the rex. glass gearboxes arent cool. the supra has the advantage of being newer, and being able to make power easier than the GTR. the GTR afaik is lighter, has the advantage of AWD, and is just plain cool. Yup, look for a JZA80 RZ with the 6 speed manny.
-
if the car youre getting is an RZ or an SZ its a'93-'02 (JZA80). anything before that (to '86) is the JZA70. afaik, RZ denotes the turbo/twin turbo models, and SZ is the non turbo.
-
heh, oops, the 92 is the JZA70 i think.
-
yeah, itd be a JZA80. first things first, theyre pretty heavy mofo's, so they can be a bit boaty (2 of 3 that ive driven have had stock suspension, shocking stuff, the other had tein coilovers, massive improvement...) they dont like to rev like the GTR's, but its much easier to make huge amounts of power from them. theyre very comfortable on longer trips, takes a bit of effort to get in and out of, you sit in them rather then on them, if you get my meaning. theyre thirsty, and theyre not the easiest things to drive in the wet, but all round, theyre great cars, and i doubt youll regret buying one.
