  1. You are telling me that out of a 16 car field 3 out of 16 were 1jz cressidas! Thanks mate.
  2. ^^^ I was going to say the exact same thing.
  3. Any results? I heard about Shane's pass and SPastik yellow mitsu wagon. Where can I get some info?
  4. Good luck to all racing. There better be some vids posted for us interstaters.
  5. Listen to MR331307. Get static timing spot on and then if it isn't right then you have RFI. interference. Any leads near the cam or crank sensor wires?
  6. Congrats. Bet it feels great after doing the work yourself.
  7. I have done a bit of tuning and if you have a flat AFR say 12:1 then the injector duty cycle will rise from low rpms to the point that you reach peak torque and then drop a bit to redline. As it doesn't actually reach L17 I don't know how much the PFC blends the map so it may not even matter. SLVR32GTR: Matt Spry will sort it out no problems. Pmed you.
  8. Re ignition timing What fuel did you use when on the dyno? What fuel is the guy running 24deg using? What was the knock reading on the PFC? There are a lot of things which come into play with tuning and avoiding knock and ignition timing is a big one. I wouldn't be too worried about another guy running more timing than you. Each engine is different and they all like slightly different things. His car may be tuned on the edge whereas yours might be backed off a little for longevity. I don't have an rb25 but a single turbo 1jz and I have only tuned up to 18psi but I run 17deg at peak torque to 19 at redline at that boost. 26psi has 15deg at peak torque and 17 at redline. This is using shell 100RON fuel with martini super boost.
  9. Near new. Perfect condition. $20 plus postage. I am getting an EBC. Sunshine Coast. [email protected] Thanks Chris
  10. I wasn't attacking you directly and I apologise if it sounded that way. I understand that you are helping people out and trying to make the SC scene better and I feel that I do the same. From another website. This was a bit aggrevated though but only because the fella was being a bit of a dick. I agree that SC needs to be unified. I don't care who is making money from it as long as there is a good championship to race in that has fair rules. As I said, the ANDRA rules were based off the US and I don't think there were many changes to adopt them to the Australian SC scene. I believe that the SCP rules have gone a step closer to doing this but we won't know how close until some racing has happened and people can then see what, if anything needs amending. Once again, I apologise if it sounded like I was attacking you. I know that you love your drag racing (as do I) and I just can't see how the politics of the situation could stop someone who loves it that much from competing. Chris
  11. I don't think so. I am happy to jump ship and go with SportCompact Group's rules. From what I can tell they are basically the same anyway, the only difference being body rule, weight limit and record setting, splitting up PRO RWD into 4cyl,2rotor and6 cyl,3 rotor and letting EFI v8's run. These were some of the contreversial rules under the ANDRA SC series and I think Ray knows what the people want. A lot of people complained that the head of SC didn't have enough say and that the sport was still being run by the knuckle draggers. I am happy to race in the Sport Compact Group series and then race in ANDRA events like the nationals etc. The truth is that I don't think I would mind if ANDRA ditched their sport compact "series" altogether as I feel that Ray's series has ironed out some of the rules that people weren't happy with. You must remember that the original SC rules were basically copied from the US and the US is different to Australia. The biggest thing being the amount of money in the sport. I think what Ray has done is modify those original rules to fit into the Australian SC scene. And re the commment about 2000 quick skylines and shit all racers, you should try driving a Toyota! At last years Jambo, I can think of about 3 toyotas racing! I don't know what it is but the rotary guys know where its at and they always show up in big numbers. Maybe the import crowd is just into the fully sic dorifuto?
  12. I don't think that is the case. This is what Ray told me So I could still fit a TH400, glide in my car and be in SR but I couldn't fit a Lenco. What box does Carlos have? Glide isn't it? Who cares what series it is run under? It is the biggest sport compact event in Australia and if a dedicated racer like yourself doesn't want to compete how are we supposed to convince new racers? Personally, I can't wait to race in a class that will accept me! New weight/record setting rules FTW!!!
  13. I don't really care who runs the championship. I am like 90% odd of the racers out there and don't have the money/sponsorship to travel interstate for a championship. When the SC championship rolls around to my state, I will compete and have fun. That is about all there is to it for me. The fact that my car actually fits into a class under Ray's rules helps though. He has said that it is all about what is under the bonnet not what the car looks like which I think is a great idea. ANDRA copying the american SC rules was a good start but I don't think they modified them enough for our country. We don't have the same $$$ so getting a car that is already setup for a v8 is a cheaper way of getting into the sport rather than starting from scratch. Anyway, I am racing. Hopefully more toyotas racing this year
  14. I am 99% sure it is supposed to be to the bottom port. If you feed pressure to the top port then it acts against the pressure from the bottom port. As this is still a bleed type system then pressure should be blead off the bottom port. If someone has one of these working on an external gate setup, please let me know. Thanks Chris
  15. I have my controller hooked up to the bottom port and the top port is not connected to anything. Went for first test drive the other day and the controller definitely didn't open the wastegate. I set boost cut in my ecu at 20psi and it hit boost cut. I have a 15psi spring in my 50mm trust wastegate. I was expecting 16psi or so. I have installed it per the instructions. I will post a pic showing how it is installed. Which way do people have the adjusting part facing? I have mine so that the line going to the wastegate comes out and connects to the controller. You look along the controller and the adjustment part is at the end of that.
  16. sort of on this topic. Ben Diggles FJ20 gayzelle ran 9.1X@149 according to drag times.com 1.33 60ft!
  17. Damn straight! Me too BTW mate, love your car. It is a beast!
  18. Do you mean in the way that Australia has the quickest top doorslammer in the world? Carlos vs Keir is probably a closer comparison and I think you will see very even times once Carlos gets his car off the line.
  19. started post prior to you posting. I am done. I give no fark anyway
  20. So 2 cars, equal weight, trans, driver, suspension etc. One has 450rwhp from 4000rpm to 7000rpm. Another has 550rwhp from 5500-7000rpm. Are you telling me that the 450rwhp car will out trap the 550rwhp car? Difference is that the RB rods are a necessity wheras the stock inlet manifold on a 1 or 2jz or fine unless you are wanting to squeeze every last HP out of your engine and you want to push the torque curve higher up the rev range. 4wd vs RWD on street tyres. Hmm... Negative it seems. Carlos: 10.04@150mph. 2.23 60 ft.
  21. Thanks a lot Fitzpatrick Speed works. Those numbers are what most people on the toyota site expected except I would have thought the rb26 head would have outflowed the 2jz in both aspects. Also, backs up the 1jz vs 2jz head. A lot of people thought the 1j head outflowed the 2jz head but now that is 2 tests that have proven otherwise. Thanks mate.
  22. Sydneykid: 89-2004 for jz engines. Stopped making because of emissions. Drag racing isn’t the only sport where the biggest wallet wins. I think that would be the same in every sport. Money + knowledge. See my comment made to nismoid re chassis tech in drag racing. Mate, the more I read the more I realise how much of a fool you are. Go race at wakefield. What does it prove? That you have a better package for circuit racing. Does it prove that you are making more power than a jz? No. If both of your cars weigh similar and you can’t beat the 144mph trap speed then he makes more power. Pretty bloody simple. 26b: woo, ran an 8.XX in the bmw. That is a little way off 6.4. Dennis: I agree mate. Absolutely ridiculous comparing engines by circuit times. R31nismoid: No shit Sherlock. There are obviously other things involved with making a car run quick times but if you are going to tell me that there is a better way to compare outright power then let it be heard? I am sure the whole motorsport community would love to know. We are not talking about power to weight. Assume same weight so you can get your head around that. Are you kidding re this dude baiting? f**k me, some of you guys are wankers. Post up the stock numbers and this thread can be closed. C-dawg: might want to do a bit of research mate So does anyone want to put up the numbers for rb25 and 26 heads? All this thread has proved is that there are many childish people on this forum that have nothing to add but ridiculous biased comments.
  23. stock numbers is what we are after. jz's won nothing except the quickest pro rwd import in the world. Drag racing is the true test of an engines power. GTR and supra are designed for different things. Anyway, off topic. Do you have stock flow numbers for rb25 or 26 heads? We already have numbers for 1j and 2j so only need the nissan ones now and that is why Dennis started this thread.
