Howdy All, Unsure if you remember but a while back I was having power loss probs with my car, here is the scenario: - Car will run perfect but suddenly lose power and not go anything over 2000rpm. - If it does this and I stop the car, turn it off, and turn the car back on again 8/10 times the car will run perfect again. - Car will go up to 200 - 300km's of travelling sometimes without this problem happening..sometimes more. - Also does not seem to have anything to do with outside air temp ... it happen on a coldish night and also a hot day. - Fuel levels don't seem to be an issue, only thing i have noticed it seemed to do near 1/2 full and close to empty ? Since then I have taken it to 2 places and they can not find a fault with it and it runs perfectly when the check it out and run it on the dyno. I am basically out of idea's except trying a new ECU & AFM. Does anyone out there have any other idea's? , any Mechanic's out there that have seen anything like this b4? BTW the engine is a 1G-GTE Twin Turbo. Help!! . Rob.

I don't know if anyone has been out and about tonight but there is a massive police presence out there. There were atleast 3 bretho's setup from the city to darlington and I would say I saw atleast 7-8 patrol cars on the roads between there also. Lucky didn't get defect or anything but i sure got heaps of looks from cops on the other side of the road itching to pull me over!. So all be careful out there, I heard they are defect everything and anything. Rob.

Man what a wicked car! , I am after one of these too but your's is just too good!! . I could not justify driving it on a dirt road (g/f and parents live on them) so I think i will have to get one that is not in such perfect condition. Sure is a sweet car and you should have no problem selling it!, i still cant believe that interior!!

Bit more than 20k Joolz It's a series II .. prob get around 25k for it with that kit... all depends on KM's too and condition... its looks pretty nice to me from what the pics show. It also depends if u get a buyer, they are a hard car to move as it is a selected market.

Yep don't understand that at all, they must have some way of getting away with it because it's only 3rd party. As for your mate i understand they would minus the remaining policy payments (all insurance companies do this). But i dont understand how they could shonk him on his extra's saying they were not extra's thus reducing the "agreed" value. That is plain bullshit. Agreed Value is agreed value and i would have taken them to the cleaners over that, if u tell them the mod's (and extra's) at the time of taking out the policy and they give u an agreed value based on this , then how can they later at the time of claim then go "well these are not extra's". On the policy it clearly shows the agreed value and lists your mods & "extra's". Both the policy holder and the insurance company have agreed to this and it is in writing. If you take that to court you will win. They would have to provide a legitiment reason for why they are not classed as extra's. If they are factory standard then no they are not, if they are factory options yes they are, and if they are aftermarket then without a doubt they certainly are extra's. I could ramble on forever here but you get the picture. They will screw anyone hoping the don't know any better and will accept it. Rob

I will be quiet Joolz .. na I think it is good you are taking time and deciding wisely. Bl4cK32 How did they justify the 16k policy but you only get 4k if u claim?, that does not make sense.. if u have an "agreed value" of 16k on your policy by law they must pay it (eg your policy is a legal document).. if they tried to put that on you you would win in court. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Basically the only way we will ever get fair insurance is if all the insurance companies decide to insure imports as they would Aussie delivered car rather than putting the "import" stamp them. In time as parts become more and more available it may happen who knows, i would not hold my breath though. The other way is to wait until you are over 25 which opens you up to a bigger choice (but not that big) of companies like Unique, Torque, Shannons etc... but still expect to pay more than u would for an Aussie delivered car.

I would suggest Just Cars also, or Famous.. they are pretty much your only options. Just Cars will definately cover you, but like Chops said expect a very large premium. Also expect to pay a massive excess if you ever have a claim, they have so many excess's with their cover it is not funny. Basically there is no cheap option, regardless of age. To put it in perspective I am paying $1330 for a 25yo Rating 1 thru Just Cars, my car is an R33 series II. A mate of mine has an R33 thru famous and is paying about 3k.. he is 23 with a rating 4. That is pretty much it in a nutshell, and things are not likely to change insurance wise any time soon... its prob going to get worse, more and more are getting stolen and torched, and more and more and getting written off by young drivers... it is the unfortunate truth. Plus the choice is limited to who you can go through, it is an unfortunate fact the Australia was never brought up with turbo powered cars like Japan (over there is is just normal and has been for donky's years), so the thinking of the insurance companies is very much in the N/A market and the word "Turbo" sends them running. A P plater with a High Performance sports car... pfft how about you learn to drive first then get a powerful car.. this goes for any performance car be it a V8 or Twin Turbo. And dont give me this bullsh*t about "I can drive, I am great blah blah blah" A person on there P's has no where near enough experience to properly handle a performance car if the going gets tough. Minimum you should be made to do an advanced driver course. For that fact anyone should be made to do it. The fact that police are targetting imports over locally delivered cars sucks, but I can sure see there point.. you can pick up a R32 GTSt for as little as 15k and this will eat nearly any V8 LS1 commodore out there valued at triple the value... e.g. Imports are cheap and easy for P platers to get hold of. If you don't like it well meh live with it because it is not about to change ever. Rob.

That is another thing with the Skins, What is the point of custom skins, the reason i ask is that other players from what I can tell can not see them unless they also have that skin saved in there skins directory. I had a mad nismo one but no one could see it as they didnt have it in there hard drive. Hmm I feel I will be buying this game .

With LFS if u buy it can u still play on the internode server?... and if so can u use any car not just the demo ones?.. reason i ask is never seen any cars but the demo ones on game arena or internode.

Honestly I don't normally care if there are cops around.. if one pulls up next to me i just ingnore them , don't even bother to look. I have been followed before , also a cop did a u-turn behind me.. never got pulled over, been stopped at numerous breatho's and never questioned about my car. I may be lucky who knows, but i just go about my general business and have never been hassled. I have not been pulled over once in my Skyline and hassled. Now saying that i have been pulled over when I had the VT (GFXMan you will remember that one ).. but i deserved it as I was driving in a "racing fashion" down Anzac HWY.

I would think is more to do with ADR's then brand name. I think the problem could be some Japanese parts don't meet ADR's , but HSV parts are designed around ADR's so there are no issues. I may be wrong , but this is my thoughts on the issue. If this is true then you would be better off buying Aussie parts (eg Whiteline suspension) where possible.
