  6. There was a 5 speed fitted to some skyline models - check out some past issues of Zoom mag in their R33 4 door project car. They did some upgrades to the box as well if I remember rightly.
  7. I used Nulon "Xtreme" super dot 4. Wet boiling point 184 deg C, Dry boiling point 286 deg C. The specs were nearly identical to Castrol Edge bled the whole system dry, replaced and bled with one 500ml bottle which was suprising - now I have 2 spare bottles! Have not faded street or track (very cheap too only about $7 a bottle). Wouldn't bother paying for racing fluid for street use, but feel free if you need something to spend your money on.
  8. You have PM - I'll take the side skirts if you can post to Melbourne.
  9. location added if anyone is interested in pickup.

  12. had a similar problem with Just Cars recently, they increased every excess and added in a theft excess as well as dropping agreed value, so I did some shopping:- Vehicle Details - 1996 R33 SII, only mods to suspension. Hope this helps other people with their insurance shopping!. Cheers, Rene
  13. Read below - this post stuffed up halfway through...
  14. ok then do whatever you like, but flushing the fluid without using an external pump is a standard practice - there are heaps of guides available about this but I couldn't be bothered arguing about it.
  15. You can do that, but the converter will hold more like 4-5 litres so it is worth pumping it out otherwise you'll have a half polluted mix of ATF. Just to clarify, I didn't mean run it dry, you need to drain what you can via the filler plug and then refill with new fluid. When thats done flush through with new fluid through the cooler inlet/outlet at the transmission by using the trans pump with the engine running and shifting through P-R-N-D. When the fluid starts coming out clean then you've done the job.
  16. By the way Nissan uses Jatco transmissions. Just saw this on their website. http://www.jatco.co.jp/ENGLISH/PRODUCTS/at_qa.html Cheers, Rene
  17. You can find out the recommended fluid from Nissan, using other than factory type can affect your shifts and durability of the clutches, bands and gearset. With regards to changing oil, some auto's are not required to change throughout the entire life of the transmission but it is garaunteed to extend the life of it if you do. For extreme use like taxi's they would change the fluid every 50,000kms (3 months or so for them), but for normal use that is a bit extreme. It's up to you how much to change it, but closer to 100,000 kms is more reasonable. Again you can just ring up Nissan and ask there normal service interval. Hope that was a little bit enlightening. Enjoy. If you change it yourself you'll need to recirculate with the engine running. This is because you have to get the fluid to pump out of the converter and cooler etc, if it's not running then you can't get it out. You'd usually drain the old fluid out while pumping in clean fluid through the cooler lines from a bucket so you need more ATF than the actual capacity of the transmission. Should be able to find a general guide somewhere on the net.
  18. if you have no preload then with the weight of the car the suspension will be compressed more. Just balancing of forces - if no preload then the resultant force compressing the spring is higher therefore more compression of spring and lower ride height. thats about right - your handling would only be affected if you have different corner weights and by the increase in COG (increasing your ride height). The preload won't affect how "stiff" your ride is either. If you coilovers only have single adjustment for spring seat heigh (that is you cant adjust height and preload separately) 1. Set car up to ride height by setting spring seats 2. If you have scales adjust your corner weights by tuning the preload. If not you can just go with getting the height roughly the same, you won't be able to tell the difference much on the road anyway.
  19. Pre load is used to adjust static weight distribution. With linear rate springs, force is proportional to displacement, ie F = kx. The more displacement of the spring the higher the spring force, so if you increase the preload (ie wind the spring seat up) you will increase the force on that corner of the car and therefore shift the weight onto the other corners accordingly. The only way to properly set the car up is with a flat patch and scales on all 4 corners of the car, you can approximate by adjusting the spring seats to the same length but this will never be right because the car wont have exact 50/50 weight distribution front/rear and left/right and also the spring rates will never match exactly. Increasing preload will also change the ride height though, that is why good coil overs have separate height and preload adjustment, but usually this is a waste of time on road cars. Hope that helps.
  20. Any interest?? Still up for grabs.
  21. Does it come on after 10 km of driving consistantly?? First of all check if you can get it into diagnostic mode (there's a guide somewhere on this forum). If you can get it into diagnostic mode then you can at least read the error codes if there are any. If you can't even do that then you might just need a new steering angle sensor. In the case of a faulty steering angle sensor, what happens is that the HICAS controller looks for a steering angle signal once the car is started, if it does not recieve the signal within 10km of driving then it assumes there is an fault somewhere in the system and gives you a warning light. The light will only go off after you turn off the ignition. If you can lay your hands on another sensor cheaply then give it a try, just need to take off the steering wheel and unplug it, then fit the new one.
  22. Just had a look at the socket, they look like the same socket as the park lights. Should be a standard wedge type globe.
