  1. Just wondering... Are the holes on the GTR wing the same as the ones on the GTS wing. I'm looking at getting a GTR style wing, and if the holes all match up, it makes the job a whole lot easier.
  2. First my water pump died. This obviously meant my R33 was overheating and couldn't really be driven till it got fixed. Did that, and I was back on the road again in no time, thinking that was the end of my problems... Then my sub dies... Not too happy but hopefully just the fuse has gone, go to check it out and notice its a bit wet. So I open all the boot lining and find a nice pool of water I have now pulled all the lining out, the sub out etc. Think I've found where its coming in... and it was just the fuse, so the sub will be ok too. Hopefully that will be the end, or do bad things come in fours...
  3. I'd say get something closer to the stock side of things. I bought my R33 with body kit, stereo and mags only. Nothing else was done. When an engine has been worked, you have no idea what the owner has done to it. In my opinion, a car is more likely to be thrashed if its been modded. Have fun with your car. Do it up yourself and learn as you go. Before you do anything, do some research
  4. I check my coolent level and it was fine. I checked for leaks and drove the car for a couple of weeks to watch for leaks, but it didn't lose any coolent. It was at the same level. No cracked hoses either. Gonna pull out the water pump soon and test it.
  5. My R33's coolent starts to boil after a 20 minute drive. I noticed the temperature has been getting hotter than usual as well. I changed the oil and filter, flushed out the radiator in case of a blockage, and tested the thermostat, which was working fine. I susspect that my water pump my not be working properly, so that is going to be my next target to fix the problem. Any other ideas on what it might be? Cheers
  6. There is no doubt, it is a good car. You need to do some budgeting though. When i got my first car, it was only a four cylinder. This saved me a lot on petrol. Not saying that the skyline chews through fuel, (nothing like a 5.7l V8) but I did feel the difference of six cylinders when I got my R33. I think its worth paying a little extra for, but the final decision is up to you. I'd say its a good first car. Good luck with the car hunt, let us know how you go.
  7. I've been looking through the service manual and can't find what spark plugs my car takes. I know it will be an NGK plug, but does anyone know which one and what gap they should be set at? Thanks
  8. thermo.doc Check this out, it might help you a bit. Its from the service manual. Got the section related to the thermostat and did a copy paste job. BTW, I'm doing the same thing atm. Its a real pain to get to, but I'm still working on it
  9. I've done 132,000 k's. Which is not bad for a 13 year old car.
  10. I'm doing my first service on my R33. Its a non-turbo GTS 1993 model. Looking through the service manual, I can't find what grade of oil I should put in. Can anyone give me an idea what they use. I rang up AutoOne and they said Penrite HPR 15 or HPR 10, but I thought it sounded a bit low for a car my age. Any recomendations?
  11. When any circuit board gets a bit older, the tracks can form very small cracks. These tracks stop the flow through the cracked track. When the circuit is heated the tracks expand, in turn closing the cracks and therefore making the circuit work again. I dought that this is your problem as it generally only happens to much older circuits, but if your can has been heated and cooled a lot, this constant expantion and contraction of the tracks could form these cracks, say if it stands in the sun a lot in the day and then gets really cold at night. Maybe just another avenue to look down, good luck. P.S you will need a magnifying glass to see these cracks
  12. Don't worry, you will always get dickheads that do things like that. When I bought my R33, some kind person put a key scratch down the side. I had owned the car for three days and it was already subject to vandalism. Was very pissed off. Happened right outside work too. Some people just have no respect for other peoples stuff. Since then no one has touched it though, and hopefully is stays that way. I'd say just fix up the damage yourself and move on. Its too hard to dwell on it to find a commodore. We all know there are like 50 billion of them around.
  13. Cool, thats just what I've been looking for. Thanks heaps.
  14. I'm looking for a service manual for my Skyline R33 GTS. I've heard that you can download it somewhere, but haven't had any luck finding it. Gregory's don't make one, so I'm all out of ideas. Does anyone know where I can find one? Cheers
  15. My engine is getting hotter than normal and the collent comes to a boil after driving just 20 minutes. I originally thought the radiator had a block, so i flushed it out with no luck. I now suspect that it may be a faulty thermostat. If anyone else has had similar problems, any info would be great. Also, if anyone knows where i can find an R33 GTS manual, that would be cool too. I don't want to be doing too much fiddling before i know exactly how it is put together. Cheers

  21. Hey guys, Just wondring if anyone has had any experience, or knows how good 'AutoGauge' meters are. I've noticed JustJap selling them for $79, and was just wondering if I would be buying quality or garbage. Any info would be cool. Cheers
