  1. I thought about that, but it still won't reach.
  2. Im rebuilding my RB25DET engine with quite a few mods, in particular a JUN style plenum with Q45 throttle body. And the original throttle wire is not long enough to reach the throttle body. What kind of wire are you guys with this kind of sidemount plenum using? I was thinking a GTR wire would be a good replacement? or maby 200sx?
  3. Im not really sure it was there when I disassembled the engine. it's just a washer I had 1 left after I assembled the entire head and it looks like it fits very snug in that oil tube. has the same type of metal as the oil pipe also. But I can't remember if it was there to begin with :\ it's 5-6 months since I took it apart... I think I'll just remove it.
  4. I have read about that the RB engines have a flaw with the oil flow. It's said that the oil stays in the engine head, because of this the bottom end and sump runs dry. Is this because the oil strain seen in the pictures? what would happen if I removed the washer strain or drilled the hole in the middle slightly larger? Oil pipe between head and bottom end: With strain washer: Without: Should this be here or not?
  5. LOL! nevermind I'm such a dummy, the rear end of the camgear inserted just nicely in that gap =) I was looking at the exaust cam gear...no wonder I didnt get it to fit
  6. I was just installing my tomei poncams just like you yesterday, but when I was going to install the oil seal at the end of the intake cam I noticed it didn't fit. The end on the intake cam is alot thinner then the end of the exaust cam. Both oil seals that came with a nissan gasket kit is the same size. And I couldnt seem to understand how the stock cam gear could bolt on to the new tomei cam :\ im puzzled, and I don't have the original cam in the same part of the country as my engine build is in. As you can see, there is alot of free room between the inner ring and the cam surface. Poor quality cam I know, mobile phone =) Questions: 1. Did you use different size on the oil seals on the intake and exaust cam? 2. Did you use stock or alternative cam gears? Cheers
  7. I preferably want something that is compatible to the powerfc and ignition settings it can adjust. But I'll order another amplifier and try the stock coils and see how it runs.
  8. So you recon a new and stronger amplifier unit and correctly gapped spark plugs will do it?
  9. I'm rebuilding a rb25det with forgies, big top mount turbo, tomei poncams, powerfc, 800cc inj, jun plenum, q45 afm and throttle body. And now I'm looking for coil packs that will support the 600 rwhp I'm aiming for. Does anybody have any good suggestions? the only alternative I can find is Splitfire ignition system and I can not find speccs for how much horsepower they are rated to support. Anybody? it's a series 1 engine.
  10. Hi! I'm rebuilding my engine and have a Q45 MAF, it is 90mm or 3,5" in diameter. I have also bought a 2 different air filters, one with 3" and one with 4" diameter inlet. But I need the flange that connects with the MAF and the 4 bolts so I can connect it with a silicone hose\reducer and to the filter. Anybody knows where I can buy this adapter plate? I've searched a bit on ebay and havent found it yet :\ I can only find for the Z32\RB25Det maf\afm wich is 80mm.
  11. What is the original 3-angles of the valves on the Rb25det head?
  12. I made a conrod comparison chart and posted it here: Conrod comparison chart
  13. The wisecos can be bought on Wiseco Online but I actually found them even cheaper on a ebay shop: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-RB25...sspagenameZWD1V The product nr matches the Wiseco catalogue and datasheet I have used for the comparison.
  14. I also made a conrod comparison, if you know more brands with technical data sheets let me know and I'll fill them in.
  15. As I am rebuilding my RB25DET engine after a piston crack I have searched for new forged pistons. I am going to bore up my engine to oversize since I have wearmarks inside one of my sylinders. So I have checked the manufactors homepage about technical data on their pistons, but they do not all supply the same info. And they use different names on their coatings on parts. But here is the comparison I made, with some missing info on some brands: So far the Wiseco pistons come out very well compared to bang for buck. If you know of any data I should input or change please PM me.
  16. I think I've read it's 1,318mm. I'm not after the cheapest pistons, but the best value for money. Since it's a major upgrade I want it to be good. The JE pistons for 1283 USD has: -Total-Seal Gapless rings -High Heat Ceramic Coated crowns and Moly coated skirts -Contact Reduction Grooves Now I don't know what this means but it sounds great And I can't find similar specs on the other brands of forgies, are they just crap-talk? And I can't seem to find a ACL seller with price quotes :\
  17. I've searched the forums but found to many different answers. I'm doing a rebuild of my RB25DET wich was in a R33 s1. My piston in syl1 actually cracked between the piston rings and i got marks inside the sylinder wall so I have to have it bored up to oversize. So Im shopping for new forged pistons and conrods. I also need a new headgasket to suit the new bore. Now I have been browsing trough nengun and greenline and found that Tomei supplies bore 87mm and 88mm headgaskets to my RB25DET in heights of 1.2mm, 1.5mm and 1.8mm. What is the original bore on the RB25DET ? Cuz I need to order pistons that are slightly larger so I can get my bottom end bored out according to the them. Do you know any other good suppliers to forged pistons and conrods? Nengun charge 1203 USD for pistons and 1073 USD for rods from the brand Tomei. Greenline is slightly more expensive for the same Tomei parts. JE can custom make forged pistons to me after whatever compression rating I want and they charge 1283 USD for pistons and 1395 USD for rods. Now I am on a tight budget so I want to get away cheap. I allready have bought a stainless header, xspower super T70 turbo, external 38mm wastegate, 800cc inj, PowerFC with Q45 afm, FMIC, airfilter, 3" exaust and are planning to mildly port and polish my engine top and fit it with tomei poncam set. Does conrods from a RB26DETT fit bolton to my RB25DET crank with std bearings? Any good suggestions to what should get? I know I have to go oversize on the bore and get the bottom end and top machined. If anyone is interested I have a rebuild thread in a norwegian forum, but with lots of pics: RB25DET rebuild thread
  18. Thanks to you guys I won the qualifying votes vs 5 other cars in Norways largest newspaper contest for the countrys coolest car in this thread . Now its the final vs 9 other cars. Help me win the contest with my Skyline! Vote Skyline 4 prez! Even if you don't understand Norwegian go to this page and scroll down and vote for the Skyline. Cheers, Sindre
  19. Thanx for all the votes guys but I still only came in second, beaten with 20 votes :\ but I still qualified for the final voting later in july. But that will be much tougher against a very nice supra and rx7 =)
  20. Help me win a "the coolest car in Norway" contest in the largest newspaper in the country! My biggest opponent is a old restored Cadillac! outragous...vote Skyline for prez! Even if you dont understand norwegian you know how to select the skyline and the vote("stem") button http://www.dagbladet.no/dinside/2006/07/07/470922.html Cheers, Sindre
  21. Thank you for a very informative answer seem to have cleared all this up with that. I'll tell my buddy with the T28 to throw it at someone else =)
  22. Well I thought that the RB25DET had at T25 wich is smaller then the T28 on the SR20DET engines. And bigger is better, so why would not the T28 be a upgrade? I want the "why's" and "why not's" Or does the RB25DET have a T3/T25 hybrid of some sort? Now Im confused because I've always thought that the engine had a small standard T25
  23. Why not? The T28 is bigger then the T25, but not much. so it should produse more air mass and handle more exaust better. The T28 has steel internals and should handle 1.2-1.3bar safely where as the T25 rarely handles over 1.0 bar over time without the ceramics to crack. And do you know there is a flange difference or do you only think so?
