  1. I get that. Happens when I turn on my alarm as well. Small spikes that occur as the result of an action ie; using windows, sunroof stereo etc. shouldn't be a problem.
  2. Another band aid proposal to make the public think the government is doing something proactive to curb the p plate death toll. As long as it only applies to red p platers like they are saying on the news then I'm ok. Can't wait to get off my P's
  3. Croydon Racing Developments In Silverwater (sydney area) Their ad is on the sponsor banner sometimes
  4. Lucky bastard The only thing stopping me buying one instead of the GTT was the $6K a year for me to insure one Have fun in your GTR for the both of us!
  5. Start trawling through the for sale section of the forums. Depends what area you are in aswell. In sydney there are quite a few japanese wreckers to try I've had some luck with the guys at sss automotive in western sydney area sourcing a cheap replacement frontbar when I had my R33. Tough luck dude Good luck with it
  6. This wouldn't happen to be the one you bought off slide like I did? Will watch this thread closely as I am in similar situation. I'm leaning towards HITMAN in penrith to do mine as he is literally down the road from my work
  7. Headlight adjuster lets you set 4 different angles of the headlights either higher or lower. Useful when you've got a full load of passengers & some stuff in the boot. The valve is nothing special, you should notice a cable running to it very close to where the cat-back bolts up if you still have the valve attached
  8. ^^^Easy way to lower the rear suspension I'd imagine lol
  9. I've seen guages larger than the 52mm (or 2") fitted onto the guage cluster, but they removed the windows on the guages & sat on top of the opening rather than on the inside, behind the windows. Not sure of the exact size but definitely looked like the 60mm. I'm planning on 52mm as they look so much neater on the inside behind the gauge windows, so If you can find the Apexi guage you want in a 52mm I recommend that would be the way to go. Hope that helps
  10. I used 4 coats of metalcast brand red over 3 coats of septone brake caliper paint in silver which I used as a primer (I wanted to do them in gold but they were sold out). I covered the nissan logo with blu-tak & sprayed over the top. It has a really cool annodised look. I did the same thing when I had my r33 & it lasts (had my r33 for almost 3 years & never had a drama)
  11. I'd be interested to know How to install them in my factory R34 centre console triple guage cluster. I too have bought the 3 guage bundle. I got the boost guage, oil temp & A/F ratio. Anybody here installed guages in the factory R34 cluster or knows where I can get it done?
  12. Awesome guys! Thanks for the helpful responses. Skyline couple: It's definitely not a stock airbox that I have as I know what it looks like. It's got the factory snorkel, but the box is made of sheet metal or aluminium with some foamy stuff on the inside to shield the pod. Was on the car when I bought it. Cheers everyone
  13. Oh, & thanks in advance for your replies
  14. Hi guys, I've been reading around the forums & used the search function a couple of times but there are still a few things I can't seem to find. I'm fairly new to turbo modifications, having recently upgraded from a n/a R33 & I was just wondering if I'm heading in the right direction with my modification plans. I am a firm believer in doing things right the 1st time around. My car is a daily driver, so I'm not chasing a huge power figure, just improving the performance of my car without sacrificing drivability as I'm getting bored of the stock power & I would like to start taking it out on the occasional track day * I already have: - Turbosmart dual stage manual boost controller recieved as a x-mas pressie (not installed yet) - Apexi Power FC for the r34 gtt (not installed yet) - HKS mushroom pod filter with factory snorkel & custom intake box (on the car when I bought it) - Plumb back BOV (on the car when I bought it) * I am planning: - 3" stainless exhaust with split dump pipe - FMIC - Fuel pump - Coilover suspension (later on) I'll be keeping the stock turbo, what would be the highest psi I could run before pushing the limits of the stock R34 turbo? I'd really appreciate any suggestions if there are any aspects of mods I might have overlooked. also any suggestions on what you use & recommend
  15. A blue R34 gtr pulled into my work today & the owner had his missus & two kids with him. What a cool dad
  16. The previous owner probably kept the valve & changed the muffler if you can still hear the valve opening & closing. I'm considering doing the same thing as I've had a look under the car & the valve is actually on a bit of pipe just before the muffler (at least it is on my one) I'd imagine if I kept the valve it would be at this point there would be a lot of restriction, But if I remove it then I'd have a useless switch in the cabin
  17. Thanks Howie, you're a legend. Just to confirm we have the same type of cat-back, It has a silencer where the in-cabin switch says 'sport' & 'silent.' On the side of the tip it has a plate that says nissan 'sports muffler' in running writing font, you called yours a nismo cat-back? Did your silencer seize after you changed the dump pipe or before? If the increased flow caused the silencer motor to stuff up I might as well get a full exhaust anyway but I'm on a budget so I'd prefer to keep the sports cat-back if it's decent. Cheers again mate
  18. Sorry to hi-jack... But since we're on the topic of exhaust systems & this thread is still active I thought I might try my luck here... Does anybody here have the 'nissan sports muffler' with silencer? There's an in-cabin switch that says 'sport & silent' I'm planning on my exhaust now & I was wondering if anyone knows whether it's worthwhile to change it or if there's any need. At the moment I am planning on a high flow cat, split dump pipe & 3" piping. I want to keep the sports muffler for the fact that it has a silencer & if I remove it then the in-cabin switch will be useless. Any info is appreciated
  19. How long have you had the car? Have you had it for awhile & only just noticed the problem now, or has it been like that since you owned it? One of my mate's s14 was running crap similar to what you described. We cleaned his afm & the problem has gone away since then. Possible solution? Sorry can't be of any more help, try taking it to a competent mechanic if the problem gets any worse.
  20. Wow, Very very schmik I'd like to do have those on my climate control unit. Any chance of a DIY thread?
  21. Depends where in syd. Just on Parramatta Road alone you've got Japlink motors E&M Unique motorsports Ed Lee's Otomobile shoppe & countless others. Just look around
  22. Has the SAFC 2 been used at all? Can you post or pm me pics of the actual product please Very interested.
  23. You can definitely count me in on a GTT badge if this thing ever gets up off the ground. I'll probably end up buying 2 spares incase I get badged.
  24. To buy one brand new back when they were released you would be looking at over $60K+ equivalent aussie dollars, so you can rest assured of their quality. That said, there will always be lemons whatever car model you choose to buy, but it looks like you know what you're looking out for now that you've read Merli's sticky. I've now owned 2 skyline imports & my next car down the track will most probably be another skyline import (possibly in a 4door variant). I swear wholeheartedly by them. Good luck with your search mate!
  25. Stock for stock, I can see their advantages in a straight line, but around the track where gear & RPM selection is key, they would be outclassed by the manual. On the road I don't think there'd be much between them, depends on the driver I guess. It's the r34 manual & tiptronic auto where the lines are blurred more.
