How many kays have you done since blocking the BOV off?
-
Well guys, I have just removed the Pepsi can gasket from underneath my BOV. While it was blocked off I noticed that boost came on much harder and also faster in between gear changes. I tested this on stock boost with the factory solenoid controlled by the ECU and also with the solenoid grounded running straight 7psi. On both settings there were absolutely no idle/stalling issues. I only drove about 10KM as I do not want to find out how reliable this setup is. It sounded fulleh sik but also made the car more responsive on boost and also quicker to get there. Is there anyone else who has run their factory RB25 S2 turbo without a BOV for a lengthy period of time who can report on reliability?
-
Well i'm going down to the carpark to make my car sik so ill let you guys know how many fulkly hektic hot chicks I pick up in my lunch break
-
So if my RB25 is in good condition this will not blow my turbo running at 7psi boost? I am interested as both sides have put up a very convincing argument and I want to know for good what the deal is.

We are so fully sik right now

" Sydneykid " Pros And Cons
Chris_R33GTSt replied to felixy69's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Look im not sure if you understand where I am coming from but SK is being defamed and made to be a bad/dishonest person by someone who he WAS doing a favour in between his work. It is the same as me building up a gaming pc/database server etc for a mate. I work for a big company so it would be afterhours/in between jobs. He is obviously doing a lot of work and as stated has large contracts that he must work around so give the poor guy a break. I will run my mouth off because you are not giving him a fair go. -
I was talking about blocking it off, going to have a bit of fun on Friday night, then putting it back on. Its not like I'm running hectic boost, only about 7psi atm. Just wanted to know if I am going to be destroying my turbo or not.
-
I was joking Paul, but also a little interested just for the novelty value. I don't want to damage my turbo so just trying to get a consensus as to the pros and cons.
-
So if i am running close to STD boost on my 33 GTST and want to go for a cruise and get fulleh sik flutter it isnt going to damage my turbo?

So is there anyone on the forums who has actually performed this conversion? I have my mad old race mechanic from when I was racing motorcross/enduros on board and he is keen to get stuck into the GTS as long as I keep it looking stock so its a sleeper He has performed mods such as a 500HP Ford Windsor into a 240Z with Nismo running gear so im guessing he is a little keen to get stuck in!

I had a stalling problem when I first got my car, same as yours, it would just die. We traced it back to an air leak that the dealer thought was in the exhaust before the cat. Turns out that the whole manifold on the engine block was not good and leaking. U should get a mechanic to go over your car with a fine tooth comb to make sure that nothing gets missed. It is worth the cost cause if something major is rooted it will cost a lot more than 30 mins of labour or a case of beer to fix Welcome to the forums mate!

All you would need to do is charge a few massive capacitors up and once charged connect them to the isolated door handle or say ignition lock. You could use a few car amplifier ones http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?I...=&SUBCATID= Im not an electrical engineer but this would have to be a possible concept... Oh shit mate, must have been a bit of static charged up on the car... sorry bout that Your thief will look like an Irish sparkie By the way I don't condone this and don't try it at home It just an idea that they would probably use in South Africa, like tear gas filled tires and personal flame throwers

Has The New Commodore Changed Your View
Chris_R33GTSt replied to Smurf's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Sure the VE Commonodore is a nice car. My Skyline was a nice car 10 years ago. It still is and has taken GM and FORD 10-15 years to catch up. Now we are comparing a brand new engine with a 20 year old cast iron block design. And which engine is nicer may I ask? I had a drive of a VZ Alloytech executive and it was the shittest car/engine I have ever driven. It felt like it was made in china and performed like a moist towelette. Each to his own. My old man has a really nice 80 series landcruiser with a modified 1HZ diesel that is a great economical truck to cruise in (uses less diesel than my GTS uses fuel) + u can fit 8 passengers not 5 and take them anywhere -
Noice! This is definitely becoming a project. I will make a thread when i'm ready to start building but I want to do a whole lot of research first. I want to try and track down Mark to to get a few ideas for starters

Well since most front cuts would be written off track s**ts I'd say its a given that it would need a full rebuild. Just need a :sorcerer: to give me some cash to get started. Serious though I am pretty keen on this. Lol watch this space!

I am very interested in this. I originally bought the 33 cause I didn't want the complexity of a GTR drivetrain, but have always had plans to put an insane engine in. I dont see the point in putting bling boltons in there, just saving up for a big rebuild and enjoying the car as nissan intended atm. I understand that this is basically going to involve putting a GTR front onto a GTST back. But done correctly and along with a bare metal respray and full rebuild of suspension I reckon that this be a winner. (So long as money is spent where it is due and work is carried out properly ) What do u guys reckon? Do we have a winner?
-
I think u are having the same thoughts as me SLYR33. IF i was to buy a GTR front cut, then I would have most of the running gear I would need to get it going right?

Ah... Thats an option that I didn't consider! Thanks Slim. The funny thing is that I deleted my avatar over the weekend and left it for about half a day before uploading the new one (giving it heaps of time to update tables and replicate in the DB). From my home PC (and IP) I see the new avatar and from work I see the old one, so I am thinking that it may be related to the IP I log in from at work. I will try logging in from a different external IP at work to test this tomorrow. Ill let you know how it goes as I want to try diagnose what is causing the issue BTW I tried flushing the cache and cookies from my system at work and that didn't resolve anything so ill let you know whats up tomorrow. Thanks for the advice mate Cheers. Christian.

Hey I cant seem to change my avatar. It took the original picture great, but now i cannot change it . And it is James Kirk... It seemed like a really good idea for aproximately 5 minutes. I thought that I had updated it with a new image last night but I came back into work this morning and it was the old image. Please help!!!

Yeah, but u dont want to be breaking them... Not sure if they come with a warranty?

Jason, nice work with LNEMUP mate. Watching what u have done with your car has been very entertaining! I completely agree with you that you were doing an experiment with your original RB25 engine and it sure proved that we have all made smart purchases with our RB** powered cars. I don't know a whole lot of other engines that could stand up to that kind of hard tuning Good luck with it all, but I would have to say that I plan for a much more conservative tune on my RB25 as it is going to be a track car and i plan on it being able to lap all day putting its power down, not for 30 seconds at a time
