  1. I would kill to have an FJ24... and a turbo conversion aswell??? f**k im jealous that engine would be worth a fair fortune.

I did hear DR30's are easier to come by then R32s these days in Japan... when you see pictures of the car yards over there full of DR30's I can see why.

How come most arn't good enough for compliance??? they are in shitbox condition? or to do with other things?

mostly because they are 20+ years old now and most are in fare condition, you could import one your self but to import places only the good condition examples will make them profit $$$....

an FJ24 alone is a very sort after engine and worth a mint to any nissan fan, could be worth more than most of our cars.

i remembe reading an artical about the fj24 around 10 years ago and they were very rare then...

  2. thanks guys, just the info i was after.

i'll propbibly be getting a cashies lap top to plug into the emu, but when you say "something is in the works" URAS if theres a new version of the e-01 comming out in the next month or so :) i might hold off getting the e-01 and laptop now.... unless were talking months and months..

  3. Ok,

i'm looking into getting one of these for my car to run the rb25det but i have a few questions..

1: is this a piggy back ECU or a replacement one??

i though it was a piggy back unit from what i have read so far? (sales guides)

2: if it is a replacement ECU will it work with the r33 auto?

if i can get answers "yes" to the 2 questions above then i'll probibly end up getting one but my next question would be

3: Does the ultimate interface with the E-01 boost controller?

    Cheers, Matt...

  4. the only DR30 i saw here on the gold coast was a 4door silver over black car that had been featured in HPI mag, the last time i saw it it was black over silver and the wheels wern't on the ground.

they are the kind of car that, at the moment, if you want to sell it you would have to be patient and when someone does come alone with the cash your more tempted to sell it that care about its future... sucks....

i've spent thousands on my HR30 and its only been driven on the roads 4 times. it just sits in the carport gathering dust...

  5. tho other one is on trademe.nz

he only wants $3000(NZD) for it too! its an $8000(NZD) paint job...

notice how there isnt any bump strips along the doors etc!

very nice touch that, $3000NZ whats that $1500AUS huuum....

  6. that was in HPI mag last year sometime... i didnt read it though

wass it the one in this pic?

AHH30 was the plate i think? QLD too....

i love this one (NZ though)

thats the one, looks better in the light, so far all the r30's i've seen in HPI i've seen on the streets of the Gold Coast expect Bens White DR30. Mind you one was upside down in the middle of the road completly written off :glare:

that other one pictured looks very nice, great colour too.

  7. thought i'd start a spotted thread as i see a few old skylines here on the gold coast,

just saw a MR30, midnight purple with spec through out, crome 17" simmons rims, RB engine of some sort, custome purple plates and a RZ motorsport sticker across the side. looked tops....

post up details of cars you may have seen in your area...

  8. mines a 1982 HR30 non powersteering model and its not that heavy in the steering department and i have an rb20det in there so won't be to different to the rb25det i'd say?

i also think you'll find its just the power steering pump thats on the other side and that the lines connect about the same place as the r31. maybe look an getting custom lines made if you want to keep the PS or use an r31 pump and lines??

  9. As for parts on these imports where have you guys found the best place to go for interior bits and peices.

I have checked out the yahoo auctions but is their anything easier.

R31 club for sure, imports both 2 and 4 door seem to have a good list of parts all the time, some of the more sort after bits go quickly IE: import struts, head lights even tail lights. most dash interior bits are interchangable with the aus version, being a 2 door the door cards are a little harder to get.

  10. maybe time to back to basics with this one, maybe even source an l20et engine and matching box, ask around at some of the import places that offer warrentys for parts, have you thought of an FJ swap.

if everything is fine with the engine and its only a crap head gasket go the Nissan item, $90 + install, or do it yourself but do it right, clean the block and head surfaces maybe even get them machined. if your box is broke look for an l20et box, go back to a single spinner diff untill you can afford the LSD, 9 times out of 10 its the pads that make your brake noisy, get new pads, fluid and the rotors machined, see if the r30 booster and master cylinder fit as they are cheap maybe even look for a MR30 hatch for parts i'd say no more than $200 for one, if you pedders suspension is good leave it alone....

  11. I bought my 1987 Gts coupe (turbo, manual) 3 1/2 years ago, 100% stock with 37,800k's on the clock, genuine grade 4, interior is brand new, cigarette lighter has never been used. It set me back $10,000 inc. 3 year warrenty and all on roads etc...

Some say that I paid too much, but it was in a lot better condition than any other r32, s13 I could find.

    Gotta love the hubcaps :nyaanyaa:

    GTS1.jpg

i know that car yard, they had a gts-r there for 19,000. up the road from there is an import place that has a gts-x for sale at the moment, starting price was 12,000, its now down to 10,000. nothing to write home about either specially when its sitting next to r32's and r33's for only a few extra grand.

most gts-x's are on the r31 forum for around the 6-8,000 as said above, there are some sitting at the 15-17,000 mark at the moment but they are largely modded or feature cars.

  12. I've had my R30 for close to five years now and bought it in just about perfect condition for very, very cheap and was offered a bit over double what i paid a few weeks after buying it... So they're are a very sort after car but only by people who know what they are...

i don't think i'd ever sell mine unless some offered me a rediculous price for it ;)

and with a Ford GT Phase 3 selling for a tad over $500 000 down here in Melbourne at auction recently, rare or sort after cars can be a good investment in the long run....

give it ten years and a mint condition DR30 could be sold back the the japanese for crasy amounts. the HR31 gts-r is one of those cars that unless you know what it is your not going to pay the $15000+ price tag...

  13. depending on how quickly you would want to sell it, there will always be a market for them, a very small market...

parts are not hard to get but can be expensive for the rearer items iron mask head lights, but on par with most imported car items.

i've had my HR30 for near on 5 years now and i've only driven it about 5 times on the road, here on the gold coast there seems to be a strong skyline/ car following and i always got people stopping and asking questions..

  14. Thanks that's extremely helpful.

Do you know off-hand if the R30 diffs have the same/or will accept the C210 half-shafts?

Sorry completly forgot you have a c210, if the spine/teeth # matches then you should be fine. Email Zac and see if he can send a link from yahoo with what model you exactly need??

  15. does the s13 rear end bolt into an r30? no mods?

a bit of engineering involved with the new craddle mounting points but not impossible, i have a mate who is very good in the mod department and has built a few 1200 utes and coupes and is looking into it for one of those, he's thinking s-13 or r33 rear conversion..

a bit of an outlay to start with but the diff choice is alot better and cheaper...

  16. source a DR30 R200 rear end, $700 at most shipped, try SSS automotive in the parts department sticky at the top of the forum.

you could go to an s-13 rear end swap but that would set you back around the $2000 mark.

  17. Cheers for the advice..

it seems like it will be a hell of a lot easier to just get an R31 kit and make it fit if it won't.

Or even get someone in Australia with the front/rear bar i want, borrow it :) and get a mold made for the same price and make the costs back by fabricating kits for any other R30 enthusiasts

the funny thing is r31 full kits are only a little bit easier to get, there are 2 i know of that are full kits ( front bar, side skirts and rear bar) you can get front lips. really theres not that much out there.

there is the GTS2 kit (good copie will set you back $1-2000).

getting a mould made would cost you about the same as getting the parts from japan.

  18. i emailed Zac from slidewize ages ago about a full kit for the r30 shipped over and this was the responce i got

"You wouldnt get much change from $2000 for a full kit."

i was asking about a rear bar, side skirts and front bar from www.r30.co.jp

    the yen hit 100 today.. 1 aus $ = 100yen
