Risk Of Turbo For Green Platers
Lachlan33 replied to dreamaaa's topic in General Automotive Discussion
"I also get those magnas with exhaust + rims " I used to have a Magna with an exhaust They are actually decent cars and not as slow as you might think. Manual, 3L V6 and had a decent sound to it unlike the bog standard Toyota/Commo V6's I mean sure it was no Skyline but it was an ok car.....until my mate wrote it off. -
Best media piece on the subject ever. Great find.

Risk Of Turbo For Green Platers
Lachlan33 replied to dreamaaa's topic in General Automotive Discussion
My mate got done driving his WRX engine'd Liberty. They issued him with a fine (think it was like $318) which carries 7 points. In other words its a loss of licence. I was a passenger in the car and they got me to drive it home. I too am a green P plater but I got my licence pre ban so I am all good. I had to feel sorry for my mate, we were driving along doing the speed limit and nothing illegal, we just got pulled into an RBT and they did him. There is like 3-4 months between us as to when we got our P's yet I am allowed to drive turbo's and he is not. Seems kinda silly to me. -
Alllllrighty people I wasn't trying to start a flame against Holden/Import drivers. My comments are just light hearted jabs, nothing more. Calm down.

"just car 3rd party + fire + theft for me was $750, easy. 20yo male, r33 turbo." Wtf? I paid over $1k. Same car. Same insurance policy with the same company and was also 20 at the time.
-
Because if the media is to be believed its only P platers in 'Illegally modified imported performance cars' that ever do anything wrong. Ever.

So im reading in the paper about the incident at botany overnight. For those that don't know, police did a big crackdown on 'hoons' issueing 39 infringements, 18 defects and siezing 8 cars. Some interesting figures for you: 3 of the 8 drivers of siezed cars were P platers. The 8 cars were 3 Holden Commodore's, a Holden Ute, a Holden Torana, 2 Ford falcon's and a Nissan 200ZX (I think they mean 200sx) Is it just me or are Holden's THE most hooned cars around? I also find it interesting that less than half of the taken cars belonged to P platers. Maybe the community needs to realise that wait, other people are wankers on the road as well. I kinda wish the RTA/Police would focus less on the tuner car with a POD and FMIC and more on the rust bucket VL's with drum brakes and leaf springs. More often than not the fatality's involving P platers are Holden's. Everytime I see an article about a street racer, crash, excess speed etc, 9 times out of 10, its a Holden. I dunno I found it an itneresting read anyway. Oh and the riot squad was called in after the car owners and friends fronted upto the RTA demanding their cars back haha. Pack of yobs if you ask me. http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/botany...9839527618.html

"On a stock engine i think 300rwkw with be about the max even with aftermarkerket turboes, inj and pump added " I assumed from this statement he was talking about the RB25DET's issues with 300kw and above. Aftermarket turbo's pump and inj on an RB26 would net far more than 300kw wouldn't it? Not sure either but don't the 26's easily handle above 300 with stock internals?

I would suggest life insurance. That thing is going to be nuts

Hey Whats The Best Mods To Do To My 33 On A Budget
Lachlan33 replied to boostn vl's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The Power FC is a full ECU replacement. Its able to be fully tuned, removes basic limitations of the stock ecu like the speed limiter, Rich & Retard and other things. The piggy back I had was an Apexi S-AFC II which is an Air/Fuel controller. It intercepts signals going to the ecu and tricks it into thinking its getting different figures. It allows basic changes but is fairly limited. I think from memory I paid around $200 for the SAFC, then another $150 or something to get it installed and tuned. If your just after 200kw then you will need a full turbo back exhaust, a way of upping the boost, a better intercooler is probably a good idea but not absolutely vital I guess, just don't drive the car too hard. I think 200kw's is about where the stock clutch struggles as well. You will also benefit from either a POD or a highflowing Panel filter. All of those should get you close enough to 200. -
Hey Whats The Best Mods To Do To My 33 On A Budget
Lachlan33 replied to boostn vl's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have a 3" exhaust from the turbo, POD, Front Mount, 11psi on stock turbo and a PFC. (Base map, untuned so far) I made 217rwkw with the stock ecu and a S-AFC 2 piggy back computer. However I would take that 217 with a grain of salt, I think it was something more like 200-210 which would be more consistant with others. My clutch is not likeing the power I will tell you that much. -
Hey Whats The Best Mods To Do To My 33 On A Budget
Lachlan33 replied to boostn vl's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi mate Ive got a 95 gts-t myself, fun car. With the standard cooler It depends on what your using the car for. For the ocasional thrash I think around 10psi would be pretty safe. The stock turbo itself won't like much above 13-14psi without risk of damage. Remaped ecu is probably only worth doing once you have done quite a few mods. The RB25DET I believe puts out 187kw at the flywheel stock. Once you factor in drivetrain loss, engine age etc I think stock your looking at around 140-150 kw at the rears. Not sure about the VL intercooler so can't help you there. When you say your on a budget, just how much are you wanting to spend? Power is addictive. I remember when I first got my car, I said something like 'holy crap this is more power than I will ever need' Of course a month later I was looking at mods. -
My knowledge isn't the best but thats a rather large turbo to be using the standard AFM, Injectors and especially ECU. Im going to take a wild stab in the dark and say you should probably look at those supporting mods. Oh and regards to the pulling upto the lights stalling, you don't have an atmo Blow-off Valve do you?

Hks Gt2835 Pro S Turbo 272.3 Rwkw
Lachlan33 replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Perhaps he was indicating to other cars he was entering pits? Look we know he did it on a public road but the point is he filmed ONLY the instrument cluster and at no point did he say it was done on a public road. Innocent until proven guilty and there is nothing conclusive for the cops to go on. Lets just apreciate the video for what it is, which is someone with a new turbo showing us what its like -
Inexpensive, Fast and Relliable. Pick any 2. Your not going to get anywhere near 250kw with the stock turbo, let alone 270. 1bar of boost on the stock turbo isn't going to do wonders for it as well. I am running 11psi, Front mount, Full 3" exhaust, POD filter and PFC. Last dyno, which was without the PFC (had a S-AFC 2) got me 217kw. And I am quite sure it was a fairly high reading. I would expect I have something more like 200-210kw. People running bigger turbo's, like the GT-RS are netting around 250rwkw, maybe a bit more. And thats with bigger injectors and a tuned PFC. Hate to tell you mate but $3k isn't going to get you 250kw. Not by a long shot.

Because it was done on private property and I would like to see you or the police prove otherwise -
Wish my car came with a free bonus turbo

Forgot To Mount Fuel Pump Inside Tank
Lachlan33 replied to bahanthich's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I don't think inside a fuel tank would contain enough oxygen for a fire/explosion to start. Having said that I am not about to go try it. -

Hks Gt2835 Pro S Turbo 272.3 Rwkw
Lachlan33 replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nice man, I assume that was all done on a closed runway 270 odd kw is my eventual power aim, if you don't mind me asking how much was the 2835 and what other mods do you have? How much boost you running? I was originally wanting a GT-RS but from everything I have seen it will struggle to net 270+ without cams or excessive boost. -
Amazing car. However, I still don't think its a Veyron killer. What people need to remember about the Veyron is its not JUST insanely fast. It happens to be so while still having a luxurious interior, Air con, 4wd stability, and can be driven in a very docile way and doesn't deafen you. Sure they can build faster cars but so far they have all been stripped out race cars that you wouldn't exactly want to take on a long drive. I wouldn't say no to that Porsche though

Need Suggestion If The Car Is Worty 7500?
Lachlan33 replied to myfirstCar1's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Uhhh... Your asking about a camry on a Skyline forum? $7,500 for a 12 year old car? Its almost at 100k, has it had its major service? If not your looking at another grand. I don't know much about camry's but I wouldn't buy it myself. Maybe offer $6k? I dunno. -
Banning Performance Cars From P Platers = More Deaths
Lachlan33 replied to scathing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The RTA will never introduce compulsory driver training courses. Its cheaper for them to just introduce more fines and restrictions and so thats what they will do. If they did introduce defensive driving courses as part of the L's then they would pass the cost of that directly onto the applicant. And it costs enough already. I hate it how the Learners licence costs less than the Red P licence which costs less than the Green P licence which costs less than your blacks. Its the same goddam piece of plastic made in the same way!
