I dunno but if one was considering a kit like that for a Skyline they shouldn't be driving one.
-
Why not just tell everyone how to? It has start duty per gear which is used to control spiking but I dont think you can specifically set the boost per gear, not from what I've found anyway.
-
Maybe because the V8 supercar team rebuilds their motors every race meet, so as long as it survives the race, thats all that matters.

As I mentioned, google phenolic spacers and theres plenty of info to be found. They are quite popular mod on some cars like the MX6 etc where the N/A boys are looking for every last hp. Also it seems you can get spacers for even carby v8s etc. I'm gonna do a search tomorrow to see if I can find any independant links/forum reviews. Oh and btw, yes heatsoak is a problem in turbocharged cars, why would you say its not?? Found a few quotes here from various posts in other forums (not websites lol); "They work good I had this gasket on my turbo civic. droped temps a good bit on manifold. After dyno runs it was still cool to the touch unlike a stock setup that gets real hot" "My friend has one a boosted civic si. After hard runs with the car, you can place you hand on the intake manifold and it is close to outside temp. Seriously, it was cool to warm depending on how he drove the car. Before the spacer, you could not touch the intake runner near the cylinder head after hard runs. I'm sure it just helps keep the intake air temp down. seems to work pretty well." "Enthalpy can attest how well it works. On the dyno, it was cool to the touch, even after repeated WOT runs. It wasn't even slightly warm! Try that with your standard paper or composite gasket!" "To ground this conversation into a serious dicussion, my friend has an intake manifold spacer on his Integra.... He said it reduces intake manifold temp like 30 degrees or something, and actually shows a noticable difference in intake air temps." "First comparision is coming right off the street and making a pass with no cool down. Before the pass, temps were at 147F and they were down to 100F crossing the finish line. Very similar conditions with the spacer, EGR delete, and TB coolant delete. Before the pass 107F; 89F after. The next comparision is with the car being cooled for an hour. Before the pass, without the spacer, was 127F. At the finish line, they were down to 87F. With the spacer the temps were 86F before and 77F after" "I used the Hondata spacer/gasket on my last car (03 Civic Si) w/o problems. I'm not sure how hot the IM gets on turbocharged cars, but it helped that car tremendously. The IM was too hot to touch before the spacer, and afterwards, you could rest your hand on there for as long as you wanted." There is a shitload of info out there. Granted some of these quotes these aren't all that scientific and are also bloody Hondas but I cant find a single post who said they are shit after buying them....

Cmon Nismoid. Have an open mind. This stuff isnt black magic like pills in the fuel tank or some magical spark plug. You haven't tried them yet so the way you laugh it off is bees dick theory too. Nothing wrong with thinking a gasket can help insulation. Think about a polystyrene vs steel cup. If you google phenolic spacers theres plenty of info to be found. Here's one such article; http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_0401/article.html (Yes seems the performance data was taken from here but the Manifold Temp data is what is interesting). The relationship of how the plenum's temperature affects the air of going into the cylinder is what interests me.

Yes but most of the time the exhaust gas is too hot to cool down and condense to water on an aftermarket system, so that theory is Not that water would be a signal for anything anyway lol

New Garrett Gt3540 Internal Gate Is Here + Dyno Results

^^. Laggy would be an understatement. -
Yeah but it makes you think twice about intercooling. I mean you can have the best intercooler in the world to give you ambient charge temps but if the air still increases by 20-50 or more degrees before entering the cylinder due to the toasty plenum and runners, then it makes you think doesn't it? I don't think the excess heat is an issue. As if the plenum would radiate heat effectively anyway. Thats the coolants job.

Hey guys, The MX6 set I bought for a mate has a couple of problems. Firstly there is way excessive slack on the sides of the seats, even though they are as tight as we can get it. Secondly I reckon the velcro on the head rests are facing the wrong way (ie should be visible only from the rear of the car, like with my 200SX ones). Can't flip then around because the red sitching is only on one side and will be out of place. What should I do? Chase it up with UAT?
-
I don't see whats so funny about phenolic spacers? Anyone want to put some input instead of saying "POS" or "Junk" with no substantiation? Its not hard to burn your hand on the plenum on a warm day. Makes you wonder how hot the air becomes again before entering the cylinder. Here's some info; http://www.outlawengineering.com/index.html

Agreed. There is no way in hell you'd be wanting to copy or even base a tune on someone elses SAFC map.

Avcr Into Single Din Pocket With Lid

Some people like sticking it on the underside of the sun visor. Pretty neat i'd say.. -
Well at the *end of the day* we are splitting hairs because our engines would happily run on pretty much any synthetic oil with no problems. I am not doubting that RP is a good oil, I'd give it a go but there is alot of hype with oils unfortunately. Paradizzle, I'd give the 10W30 in the M1 a go if you can find it. Or the 0W40, whatever is cheaper/easier.

New Garrett Gt3540 Internal Gate Is Here + Dyno Results
Busky2k replied to dangerman4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
My impression was that external gates are better than an internal because you are introducing the wastegate gases separately back into the exhaust (or not for a 'screamer') which is a power adder. Moreover, the 'waste' exhaust gases do not have to enter the turbine housing at all and instead are diverted from the manifold side, also decreasing the backpressure/turbulence in the scroll I believe. And finally, you are getting superior boost control with an appropriately sized gate. -
You should take it up with UAT. Want to post a pic of what you are referring to?

Oil being black doesnt mean its burnt or oxidised at all. Some oils naturally turn dark with heat. Others go dark because of soot loading. If it truely is oxidised by 5,000km then you have a crappy oil to begin with. I believe RP is not entirely Group V, but a mix of Group I, IV & V. Group V doesnt mean anything anyway, its a classification for anything that doesn't fit into the other categories. You could class honey as Group V if you want. Who said its 100x better? The salesman who sold you the stuff? Wheres your evidence? lol
-
Then again there are plenty of other UOAs where in track conditions other oils have excelled too.. and there are always excuses for RL's poor performance. "Must be doing some cleaning" or "Interacting with the bearing overlay" or something else. Yet we don't see the same arguments for other oils, especially ester based chemistries.
-
Starting to sound like a salesman there lol. Pity Redline still leaves alot to be desired in terms of antiwear performance from a UOA point of view!
-
That RP pricing is competitive with Mobil 1. However I'm on the other ship and I would choose M1 over RP purely because M1 has proven performance. RP sheers down too fast for my liking.
-
Pity there are no strings on the part of the seat where your back is. I find my cover isnt hugging it like it should. Anyone with ideas on how to get it hugging better? Now it looks more like a bench seat....
-
I'm thinking though if we poke a needle thru the stock fabric, well we've pretty much stuffed them hey? If at some stage we wanted to get rid of the covers...
-
Got mine today. Installed the rear seats, looks alright. Front seats look like a pain though when I dummy fitted em. But all good, glad they finally arrived!

Brothers Evo6.5 Gets Dynoed

2 of those runs look pretty lean to me!! If it wasn't tuned, how was the AFRs altered between the runs? It looks like a fuel reg was mucked around with or something because the changes are linear... -

Are Garrett bring out internal gates of any GT30 series turbos??
