  1. Hi SK. The SAFC II was tapped at the ECU side. I pulled the plug on the sensor side on the engine. WogsRus, the knock will show up in the monitor screen after a peak recall. It works well using my method of determining if it pings. I coud wind in 2 degrees of ignition and it'll ping (ie readings more than 60 over the idle baseline in monitor). Reset the monitor and pull out the 2 degrees, no more ping.
  2. I don't know why the readings go higher when the car is hot. but its not vehicle specific. It happens on SR20s, your RBs obviously and even 4G63s (EVOs). Once I even unplugged the darn knock sensor and it still showed a value on idle. Weird shit indeed. What I have found is when its a hot day, rerun the knock calibration. Esp when the values in the monitor are high on idle. This helps lower the number a bit. But as I mentioned, the *difference* between the values on monitor whilst idling and peak recall is how to determine if your car pings.
  3. Turned to the dark side Enrico? Nice Enjoy the S15! Nice car! My website is old because I sold the car. So I pulled the link to it. Got another S14 now with a bit more work done to it hehe. Catchya at the dyno day if I am able to make it!
  4. Yep exactly. When you first start the car, turn the key to "ON" until the pump stops. The fuel line should be primed and your ready to start the car.
  5. Damn I knew that I read that ethanol blends can cause some serious deposits on the valves/head. Apparently the detergent package has to be very specific in order to keep them clean and its likely not every E10 blend will be good enough to ward out the deposits. I guess for those who do many km's per year should rethink about ethanol blends. For a bunga, who cares! Its good for them with the reduction in emmissions! Oh yeah Cubes the 044 I have is dead quiet so I can't comment if the Boost98 makes it louder. My old 040 was crazy loud no matter what fuel it was running. As for the enleanment 9kprm, I haven't really had a look. The PowerFC closed loop function is able to compensate for the E10 on cruise/idle but its kind of hard to use full throttle with my car whilst holding the LM-1 with my left hand and looking at the AFR. I'll have to get the logging properly set up and I'll post my results later on! JazzaR33, oxygenated fuels doesn't mean that it'll burn faster or produce more power. Remember some of that oxygen in the fuel is displacing fuel that could be used so thats why enleanment occurs. I do not believe the oxygen in the fuel converts to O2 as such like in the air we have, but rather is an incompletely combusted compound (-OH) so its not the same.
  6. I'm referring to the monitor knock value. So lets say its a super hot day and at idle its showing 40. No need to worry there, its just noise. After a boosting session the peak recall is about 55. The difference is 15, so therefore you aren't pinging. If the peak recall was 110, then yes the motor was pinging because the difference is 70. So just subtract the idle # from the peak # and go from there. Its unfortunate the SAFC II does not let you set up the background noise "knock value" at idle.
  7. Only replace it if you are reaching the stock AFM's limit. Remember you will need a remap or new ECU to use a Z32.
  8. Well I don't know if they'll fit perfectly (unlikely i reckon considering the S15 one is different to the S14s etc) but they were $85 for the front pair when I bought mine.
  9. You saying they've already been finished a while back? AY?
  10. Thats a writeoff. It'd be crazy to try and repair that thing. Shotgun the RB26
  11. Yeah but the setup doesnt get you to set the knock sensor level at idle IIRC. So yeah just take my advice, as it was the best way to see if you were detting. I had experimented extensively with that darn SAFC II.
  12. Damn after all this feedback I'm reconsidering ordering my coilovers through these guys. Pity they are the cheapest though!
  13. Yeah the SAFC does show 'background noise' on a hot day. It did this on my old S14. My theory is that if it pings it'll be at least 60 points 'above' the background reading at idle. Cheers.
  14. You got an S15 now Enric????
  15. My mate on his R34 with the stock turbo was maxxing out his AFM (5100mV) on occasions.
  16. Nope O2 sensors can't be 'cleaned' as such. Replied to your PM about your results.
  17. What Bosch pump are you using?
  18. I dont understand. If its tuned to the edge then the Boost98 should do better. Isn't that the whole point? Ie winding in more timing/leaning it out. Although I bet if you leaned out most cars by a full AFR point you'll end up pulling timing, not adding it in.
  19. Also I've found that Boost98 hasn't had any effect on how much my engine pings. Damn. However its good stuff its a lot cheaper than BP Ultimate and the rest and the station is only 100m from where I live. But I have a strange feeling that its only me that ever buys Boost98 there so I begin to wonder how old the stuff is.
  20. Well if its guaranteed for say 5 years, why change it out so early for besides having an empty wallet? Its the additives in the coolant (eg anticorrosion, antifoam, alkaline buffers etc) that deplete over the time. Some of the glycol breaks down into acid (and thus depletes the alkaline buffers) but its not the glycol that provides the 'protection' as such. But this would have been factored into the interval that the coolant is specified for.
  21. ^^ Black to absorb all that lovely heat
  22. Yes but it would have to be put after the throttle body to be of any 'benefit' to a petrol motor. Obviously any 'swirling' that occurs will be disrupted by the partially closed T/B. A better place would be in the intake manifold runners themselves where the swirling air would mix with the fuel injector spray. OEM's like Subaru have already done something like this. Suby for example call it the 'tumble generator valve' however I believe some people remove them on high HP motors because they cause restriction even when disabled. 23. Yeah I agree with m&m. There are definitely some things that are as cheap, or cheaper here in Australia. You just have to check around with SAU's sponsors (or ns.com). Other times Japan is way cheaper....
  24. Yep secured with a proper bracket. No cable ties here.
  25. $110 for a 4 wheel alignment!! Thats pretty darn steep...
