  1. Someone rear ended me yesterday while I was stationary at a set of lights - other driver completely at fault. Pushed in left side of rear, smashed light, warped LHS rear quarter panel, boot won't open, etc. She didn't have any insurance (of course), but I have comprehensive and am now in the process of finding a place for repairs. No one seems very interested, Nissan told me to go to Barrett Bros so they've checked it out and I'm getting a quote from them today (although the guy wasn't very interested there either), and booked in to get a quote from Tony Farrugia on Thursday. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can go? John
  2. I bought my car there about 4 or months ago and (other than this starting problem) am really happy with the car. Don't have very much confidence in their workshop though.
  3. When i turn the key and nothing happens i can hear a click. Its not very loud but i guess it's the solenoid, sounds close to the dash. So maybe the problem is with the circuit feeding the starter power rather than the solenoid open/close circuit. When i turn the key the dash lights remain on but the clock display and acc power fade out. Is this the norm? The "experts" seemed to think it must be a connection somewhere rather than the starter itself being screwed, just because when it finally goes it has no trouble, but didn't make much progress looking into it because they couldn't see it happen. I might try Jay's suggestion of pulling the thing out. Here's hoping that makes a difference. John
  4. Yep, battery has been tested and leads have good connection. I thought maybe it was immobiliser for a while but there doesn't seem to be any pattern to the problem, other than it seems to happen more often if it hasn't been driven for 4-5+ hours.
  5. Hi Zheng/simmo, Talking of problems... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...&threadid=21535 I've taken it to F&F and EVO, they say it started for them (even left it overnight at F&F) I also took it to an autoelec in Fyshwick, but it started for him too. The problem is that people don't seem to be willing to investigate it until they can see it happen (fair enough I guess). I'm almost at the stage where I leave the car with a place for a week or something to make sure they see what's going on. Can anyone help me or suggest who i should take the thing to get this sorted? Its really starting to drive me nuts. Maybe I just start replacing things and seeing if it goes away? $$$
  6. Hi all, I have a problem where my r33 won't start when it's cold or hasn't run for a few hours. I turn the key and get nothing, the dash lights fade but I can't even hear the starter trying to crank over. The strange thing is that if I sit there and turn the key lots it always seems to eventually start. It took 35-40 turns thismorning (after not driving it yesterday) but when it eventually decided to go it started perfectly. If it's been driven an hour or two beforehand it seems to start fine. It all seems to indicate that the starter isn't getting enough juice but then why would it start after 30-40 turns? Surely this would have drained anything left in the battery if that was the problem? I've taken it to be looked at twice now but the bloody thing always starts perfectly for them (after having been driven to the workshop). If anyone has any suggestion they would be appreciated, it has been getting progressively worse since it started 2 or 3 weeks ago (again pointing to battery?). Thanks (I've hunted around the previous threads similar to this but couldn't find anyone in this situation)
  7. It was the movies carpark. I was even watching a movie at the time! mmm... those Woden Hoyts seats sure beat belco. (just moved house to Weston)
  8. Got it sorted on the weekend at F&F (where I bought it). The guy they use to clean up their cars spent a hour or two and got them all out. They were only in the top layer of clear paint, and so he was able to do a dry(?) cut and polish, and then put more of the clear protective layer over the top. Looks like new again! :band: John
  9. After barely 3 months with my "previously flawless sparkling silver paintjob" car, its been keyed... It must have been yesterday afternoon when it was parked in the multistory carpark at Woden. I suppose I shouldn't have left it there anyway, but WHAT THE #^$!!! 6 or 7 seperate scratches all along the left side. Luckily they don't seem to be very deep - when I run my fingers across them I can barely feel them in the paintwork. Anyhow, I was wondering how to go about fixing it. I'm hoping that because the scratches are not deep, some sort of cut & polish might do the trick? Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should go for this sort of thing? I'm not keen to do it myself for fear of screwing the paint completely. :goddam: John
  10. Hi, Is it the one sitting in Fast and Furious showroom? John

  12. Just posted a few more pictures to: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/gallery/album53 (it wouldn't let me post to the existing (empty) ACT Cruises album) John
  13. I have to go looking for rentals, but sounds good.

  15. Cheers mate. I might give that a go, otherwise i might find some scraps of sheet ally or something. John
  16. When I got my r33 there was no stereo, so I've now bought a std DIN sized pioneer and discovered that there are no mounting brackets either... (from the guides I've seen the brackets go in the holes on either side of the climate control unit above?) Has anyone else had this problem and found some that will fit? Maybe some other nissan model has the same setup? Otherwise if anyone has measured them up and can send suggested dimensions let me know. I'd like to avoid having to make them if I can... John
  17. I recently went through the insurance thing and ended up with: R33 S2 GTST, minor mods (bov, wheels, exhaust), ins for $26500 23yo with 60% (rating 1) ncb, never lost points $1800 with Famous I got this through an insurance broker (that the dealer who imported the car put me onto), and it was much cheaper than when I rang Famous myslef (they just asked me what my best quote was ($2900 at the time) and beat it by a few hundred - $2400 i think). There are a few brokers listed on the following site, might be worth checking them out: http://www.importdriver.com.au/insurance.htm John
  18. Yep that's my car. All I know is that they're "Linearetta" (says in the middle) 17s, 225 front 235 rear. The car was imported earlier this year by a dealer, all they said about the wheels was that they were jap... Searching in google I found this page (which seems to be them) but that's all... http://us.nicaboca.co.kr/list/detail.htm?s...&middle_cat=100 Anyone know anything about them?
  19. Just noticed 20 Apexi AVC-R boost controllers for sale on eBay for $750 by "xtremecarperformance". http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...&category=32624 This seems like a good price for these things new, has anyone bought from these people before? only 5 hours to go... John
  20. I'm out the back in Tennant street. Just look for the cows grazing on the other side of the road!
  21. Yeah, after moving through the results I finally found an english site with an explanation... It is indeed for adjusting air/fuel ratio.
  22. Probably, I work in Fyshwick and I've driven over to Woden a couple of times. in the last week (haven't turned off Hindmarsh toward the tip though). Anyone know what a Pivot Air/Flow Conditioner (ACS-M) is. I found one hidden away in the gaping hole where the stereo should be... It has a dial to adjust +- 6%... Air flow controller/boost controller thingy?
  23. Here are 2 pics fresh from today (nice day in Canberra). John
