  3. ok, probably a bit off topic,, but may help someone in some way

I have a double din head unit in my car,

it has reversing camera input,, and also AUX input (yellow, red, white rca's)

So,, what I did was hook up a reversing camera (with night vision)

and hooked up a front camera (front bumper cam), and hooked it up through the AUX input,,

now these camera's don't have sound,, but u can get ones with sound but I was on a budget,,,

with my head unit, I can go into aux mode, and watch "front bumper cam",, and by pressing a button on the remote, I can switch to rear bumper cam,, and back and forth (its more of a novelty for the passengers but you get the idea,, also rear camera helps with reversing at night time),,, also the head unit has Video output,, so I'm thinking I'll hook it up to a laptop and record the video footage (that's if its actually that simple,, haven't tried yet),,, so yeah,, that's how I did my in-car camera setup,,

front and rear are both colour camera's with night vision in black and white.. head unit is out at the moment,, otherwise I would have taken pics of the setup and shown what the footage looks like on the screen..

both cameras are ccd,, would have used cmos (quality of colour footage is much better with cmos) but they were more expensive back then,,,

grey (mine is a bronze colour) camera is what i used as front bumper cam (did not buy wireless receiver)

and black one is what i used as rear bumper cam

  4. Hey peoples

I'm having boost leak issues (well more like boost restriction issues)

Tuner reckons my stock intercooler is the main restriction (am loosing 4psi from by the time i get to redline , Doesn't matter what boost i set it to. It will get to full boost,, but as the rpm increases the boost decreases)

Checked boost at turbo compressor, holds boost all the way

So am looking for where the boost leak/restriction could be,,,, have already checked for leaks in the intercooler,,, didn't find anything,,

So,, just so i know its not my intercooler thats the problem,,, i need a stock r34 intercooler to replace with mine. Will only need it for a few hours (half day max),, The lender can hang around if he/she wants while i try it out,,,

    Thanks everyone

  5. sorry to bring up an old thread,,

but i've got the same issue,, though i've still got the stock turbo,, but have pfc,, and manual boost controller,, i set it to 12psi,, and it drops down to 8psi by the time it gets to redline,,, have a 3" turbo back exhaust and k&n panel filter,,,

(also, as a check, i tried it once at 14psi and boost dropped down to 10psi at redline)

thought it was the boost controller,, but its seems to work fine on another car,,

how would i check the wastegate actuator to see if its working ok??

  6. have showed the factory boost sensor and its vacuum hose (coloured red)

i suggest u replace this vacuum hose coz it will be old and hard (it might be a bit hard to remove from the sensor and off the manifold (don't break sensor plug also,, haha),,,, i replaced mine, coz it was all hard and old (even though it only had 20K kms on it,,, took hose to autobarn and they matched one up for me,,, like $5 or something,,

ask them to give u a tee piece to suit ,,,

    :)

  7. ya,, the r34's have a map sensor,,, its on a bracket off the firewall

    located

i think u've broken the map sensor plug,, this sends boost pressure signal to the ECU. I have seen an r34 which had the Map sensor vacuum hose removed, dunno how it affected the performance or fuel economy,(but its probably best to get it fixed, since u want ur ecu to be reading correct boost pressure)

i've highlighted the map sensor in blue
