  1. The Plan: I needed somewhere to mount my new amp. I already have and amp in the car that drives my sub, but needed a neat way to mount the new amp to drive my 4 speakers. I was going to just mount it under the seat or something like that, but Ant (Arch6) convinced me to go all out and make a false boot floor. I wanted to keep the car as original looking as possible while having a functional install. Current Setup: Panasonic CQ-C9901 Headdeck driving 4x infiniti components 350W Alpine Amp Driving 8" Kicker Solo-Baric Square Sub New Setup Panasonic CQ-C9901 Rockford Fosgate P4004 driving 4x infiniti components 350W Alpine Amp Driving 8" Kicker Solo-Baric Square Sub 1 Farad Cap I've includes plenty of photo's in-case anyone else is keen on doing this. I still need to sand and paint the panels, so it's not quite done yet. First, We put the car onto ramps to make the boot a nice working height that won't break out backs This is my current setup. Amp on the left and sub on the right Removing the bracing reveals... Amp is mounted onto the side of the battery bay. Amp Mount. The wires run under the amp and so all wires are nicely hidden. Probably goint to paint it black) Next step was to make the mount for the Cap. Because there was no room and it was taller then the amp i had no choice but to mount it on top of the spare tyre. The metal/wood plate that the Cap sits on it held in place by three very very strong magnets. this way, if I do get a flat I just have to move the cap off the amp side and remove the spare tyre. I could probably store some tools and my first aid kit on this side Putting it all together Bacause i'd raised the floor the factory carpet would no longer fit. So i had to get new carpet for the floor. Cutting out the carpet. Got the edge of the carpet overlocked at my local carpet place. And we're done. @The scissor jack can still be easily accessed even with the false floor. @The rear struts can be removed without having to remove the lower level of the false floor. @Total loss of boot volume is apprx 70 Litres (floor raised by approx 8.5cm) @Total cost approx $90 for wood carpet etc.. @Took about 5 days to do (about 3 -4 hours a day) Ant and I spent alot of time leaning over the boot and staring aimlessly, pondering, day dreaming, :bored2dea  etc.... Someone more focused could probably do it in a day
  2. Hi Chris. What exactly is CAN ? Basically what i'm trying to achieve is the same has whats done to my wifes car. She has a BMW Z3 with a factory central locking remote on the key. She has a mongoose alarm installed and it arms and disarms the car though her BMW factory remote. Its handy because it means I don't have to carry around another FOB.
  3. Hi Few weeks back I bought a 2004 Skyline V35 250GT sedan as our family drive. It has central locking, but no alarm. The key is like what you find on most modern cars, it has a lock and unlock botton as a boot release on the key. I was interested in getting the mongoose MAP80G installed as it can use the factory fob to operate the alarm. 1) Does anyone here have the MAP80G or the M80G installed and can they provide some feedback on it (relabilty, cost etc) 2) I was wondering if anyone knows of or can recommend a mongoose dealer/installer to install this for me. I'm in Auckland (NZ). 3) Other models perhaps , I was also looking at the Dynatron D4800 ? I don't really mind if it's 4 star of 5 star, the car is a family seden, not exactly high risk. All the installers i've talked to have said it's not going to be an issue to intergrate the factory fob into the alarm system.
  4. hi any suggestions for those of us that already have a reversing camera (and my wife will kill me if i disable it cos she uses it everytime:) )
  5. I found a photo of a japanese family having dinner at home in the sunvisor to my nissan california work wagon about 3 years ago. I still have it in there till this day. I run into every now and again when I clean the car or go to store things in the visor. They all look so happy and i've left it alone because i feel it brings good karma to the car (not had a ding in it till this day, touch wood) MY GTR came with a J-POP cd in the player, i actually still have that in the glove box in the gtr as well.... also found about 10 gold coins when i was removing the rear seat to run cables for my amp .. looks like they were for a arcade of some sort.. Strange feeling knowing that the car used to be someone elses ride before you got it...
  6. That car belongs to Alex Au Why don't you ask him what it is Link here http://www.skylinesdownunder.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=54784 or www.hkskylineclub.com
  7. make sure there isn't oil all over your AFM, You can use brake cleaner to clean it. Get a catch can to stop it happening, but as said above, find the souce of the issue first. Too much oil perhaps ?
  8. where abouts do you plan to mount it ? in front of the raditor or behind the bumper , under the lights ? Just keep in mind that a good kit will come with air giudes, but these are easy enough to make yourself. They improve the cooling heaps
  9. The water pump in my GTR did exactly the same thing. The belt was just a little too tight and after a few weeks when I let her rip, it snapped and the pump was held on by only a small piece of metal. Like other have said, If it's not that then it's just a cheap pump perhaps with bad manufactering...
  10. friend of mine has a honda and his spolier mounts rusted away (as they do in a prelude) and he liquid nailed it back on, lasted all of 10 mins until he got on the motorway
  11. I would definately look at getting a split dump / front pipe (split single piece) made up and a hiflow cat. it'll free up alot of option for future modding. Then look at intercooler and maybe a power fc. Depending on how far you want to push it, but I would leave it at that. After this point factory parts start to fall short and break and lots of things need to be upgraded to make more power. You'll be looking at some serious cash, new injectors, fuel rails, fuel pump, new AFMS, forged internals... blah blah blah.. Just depends on how deep your pocket are
  12. I've got a trust one in mine. Works great. Keeps the GTR's oil temp at around 80 degrees in city driving. If you get one, might also be a good idea, depending on the car, to also get a kit with remote mount oil filter as well. Makes life much easier
