  3. hey mate

i would recommend xtreme heavy duty cushion button. the pedal feels firmer without being excessively heavy, the grip is firm and is easier to drive!

ideal for daily driving with a spirited run here and there. they are ideal for engagement on and off...preferably no riding of clutch. depending on your engagement a little bit of shudder on take up can be felt.

xtreme HD cushion button should cost around $500-550

    goodluck with that mate,

    Cheers

  4. Bought a new clutch off of Jim, hopefully sorted.

    Thanks QWK32.

    hey mate!

Glad your getting it sorted. but yeah i used to have the same problem as yours. rev-ing out. going no where...reving out under load going up hills. Not stalling when in any gear. let alone 4th! the clutch burn and smell is a dead give away also...when the flywheel is taken out, you will prolly see scorch marks. As QWK32 has mentioned you will definitely need your flywheel machined.

your clutch would definitely be on its last legs if its doing it in 1st gear. when clutches start to slip i believe they tend to do it the higher gear (5th 4th gear) and slowly work itself down to first gear. if it does it in first gear..its definitely going to die soon.

    hope that helps

    goodluck mate,

  5. Its the alternator belt... mine did this too..

Its really easy to adjust.. If you're near Rosanna i can do it for you...

However if the belt is old and cracked.. its time for a new one

    Here you go

    1) Loosen bolt 1 with a 12mm socket or spanner

    2) Tighten bolt 2 with same spanner

    3) Check belt tension (if its tighter you've done it right)

    4) Tighten bolt 1 again

    +1

recently got my timing belt and all the other anxillary belts changed. every morning the belts would squeel, very high pitched. took it back to the mechanics and it turned out to be the alternator belt being a tad loose. my mechanic didnt want to use petroleum jelly on the belts because they were brand new. Note even after you tighten it...run it for a week and see how it goes. you might need to continue to tighten it again.

how old are your belts? if its old then you might want to invest in a belt change.

    goodluck with that mate!

    cheers!

  7. try at the front of the head where the injectors are located there is a small bolt with some japanese writting. Well there is on a gtr anyways

i'm interested in this as well.

i can see that bolt which says.."dont open when hot" at the front of the block near the injectors But my quiery is what are the step by step guide to correctly bleeding the radiator? how do u know when it is done correctly, etc. etc. i dont really wanna open /touch it until i know what i am doing.

can anyone help? or atleast link to me a step by step guide.

    cheers in advance

    sorry for the noob questions

    Kind regards,

  8. S2 Stagea RB25DET NEO

Over the past few weeks I've had to top up coolant every 2 days. So I took it to a radiator specialist this morning to have a look at. They found that the leak was coming from my top tank which they've had to replaced. Along with a test, full flush, tectaloy v plus, parts and labour it is costing me about $410. First question, am I being ripped here? Seems a bit steep doesn't it?

Second question... they reckon this is from early signs of a head gasket problem, causing too much pressure etc etc. I can't remember exactly. They also quoted me (worse case scenario $'s) for a complete head gasket fix/rebuild and the top tank replaced... $3000!

I've told them to go ahead with the top radiator and if the problem returns i.e. I get another leak from the "extra pressure caused by the gasket"... i'll have to have it looked at. :ermm:

edit: If the problem persist i.e. i still keep losing coolant, i will have to have the gasket looked at. One thing i noticed after picking up the car is that on the receipt it says their work isn't guaranteed because of the gasket problem which i didn't get them to fix. I don't have any other signs of gasket leaking like milky oil, bubbly radiator etc. What else could it be?

here in adelaide i was quoted $200 for a brand new top tank, pressure tested etc...

i had to take out the radiator and put it back in myself though. but when i took the radiator out it was rooted and leaking in the core. so ended up getting a new one for $320

in other news i aciddently over filled my overflow tank past the max line...are there any adverse affects from doing this.

i will flush out it tomorrow.

you guys say you should monitor the overflow bottle yeah? what is it that i am actually looking for? what is the job of the overflow bottle? is it supposed to increase or decrease in coolant level

    anyone with expertise wanna comment?

    sorry for the noob questions!

    cheers in advance

    Kind regards,

  9. hey all,

not sure if its the same on gtr's and gtst but when the fuel light comes on isnt there still 15 or so litres left?

anyone with the know-how want to give further insight and confirm or deny this?

personally i get paranoid when the light comes and on and i aim to find the closest BP or mobil to fill up.

    sorry for hijacking your thread

    cheers in advance,

    kind regards, :(

  10. hey,

ok first thing you should do is forget about the cap.they are purely a bandaid fix or as i like to call them car audio jewlery.they look nice but dont really do much.if any one would like to dispute this fact i shal provide the tests that were conducted to prove it :sorcerer: .i would highly recoment upgrading the factory earths.what amps and subs do you have mate?if you have a multimeter have the car runing and set the multimeter to 200 on the V side of things and put the probes on the battery.post up the voltage that it displays too.

your lights are dimming due to voltage drop and going by what you have told us already id say your still using the stock ground which 95 % of times will be the cause. :(

    Jack

    hey mate,

    just got a quick question

you say the stock ground is insufficient. is it becos the gauge of the earth wire is insufficient?

so should pplz running big amps run bigger gauge earth wires and or should they find a different ground? where would you suggest i re ground?

    sorry for the noob questions

    hopefully you can help!

    cheers in advance

    kind regards, :(
