oh and another thing. "disrespecting the club" earns people a bullet in some parts of the world.. look at the seriousness here. i loathe people who kick a guy when hes down. -

i never ONCE claimed that what thiis "alex" kid did wasnt foolish and reckless. what im trying to convey is that weve ALL done it, SAU member or not! some on here are being all PIOUS and sticking the boot in while hiding behind the " hes disrespecting our club" line. childish. just as bad as what happened i say. -

you guys have a pretty big highhorse you need to climb down off of. or do you think a condecending and fececious attitude will earn you brownie points? have you ever blown a motor? if you have then youll understand how the kid is feeling. have you ever been idiots? or brought disrespect to someones name be it WHOEVER or WHATEVER? then you wouldnt be so supercilious when replyng to my posts. My initial response was to stop the boot sticking. -

oh, ok. i got an idea. Ill get an SAU sticker and go up to gunma to see my mate in team orange, you know the gang run by D1 drifter Kuma who has a stable of WRX drift cars? then we'll put it on one of the cars and rip it up in the middle of the night on some higway passes. Then ill post it on youtube and i guarantee there wont be a single person on here who wont say what they saw was Phat. thats called bitter irony and hypocrisy. -

man im kinda glad i dont live in Oz anymore. It was this kind of " kick the guy when hes down" attituted that was a deciding factor in my move to Tokyo. except in this case its only a kid. Where do people get off sticking the boot in? So what if he blew his motor? thats a price he was going to have to be willing to pay when doing the things he did. the video on youtube? didnt see it. And judging by the replys a lot of others didnt either. Thats not the point anyway. You harpoon this kid while at the same time hiding the fact that when we were P platers we did exactly the same bloody things.. so you think "hypocrites" isnt an appropriate word for people who act like this? I do. and i wont hide the fact that i did stupid things behind the wheel when i was 18. lots of dumb things. more than just inside a car. you ALL did too. cut him some slack. No ONE got hurt. His engine is gonna cost a motza to fix. If he had any brains after this hed take a defensive driver course or get a cams license. and let loose on a circuit. Many of you fail to realise and understand that this is not reasonably or practically viable n many instances. So people resort to the street. The kids BIGGEST mistake, more thaan letting rip or blowing his motor was posting on Youtube. Its made millionaires into buffons and no-ones into someones. Unfortunately, in this case, it showed his stupidity to the world and with it SAU members. dont rip him because of the double edged sword the internet is. advice should be given. Not a beating. get a bloody grip. -
Private Import

oh, i wont bother if its going to be such a hassle. when i was a kid my old man went to the trouble of converting a seven series BM he bought back from germany and it was sitting in parts in the shed for ages. im NOT going to bother if its going to be that big a headache.. Yet, i wonder how much conversions cost in Oz... and would it be worth it? Razor, i come from SA. Ill try your tip on the google engine tho. cheers for pointing out my lack of common sense! -

318! no need to worry there! ive never seen so many AMG's in my life...its getting to the point where an AMG merc is simply passe. whoa..did i just say that?? its like every merc you see here is practically AMG...same with 32's for example..i have a running joke with a mate " every 32's a GTR"..and its practically like that. still..of the AMG's here most of them are LHD and it looks like that will be a fly in the ointment for me.. RHD's are available but the price difference is noticable.. decisions, decisions...what to do. -
sorry...cant help you, Im in Tokyo.. sorry to hear about the brazen Robbery. hope they catch the bastards.

so if what youre saying is true, anything built after 1977 will have to be converted to RHD? -
Private Import
m3gtr replied to m3gtr's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
sounds like you want me to do your dirty work for you! 30 years old eh..... not "required" to be RHD,...? what would qualify a car for that concession?? can you give other examples?? -
Private Import
m3gtr replied to m3gtr's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
ive driven a couple of LHD here..not too bad. A guy i know took me for a spin in his 190E 2.5 litre 16 valve evolution 2. do you know this car? maybe you remember it from Gran turismo.. what a car. damn thing had active suspension, like the old williams F1 cars used to have..engine was simply glorious, too. That thing was LHD and you mentioned the car would have to be rare and collectable...id say that 190 would qualify for that! -

A Few Questions From An Expat
m3gtr replied to m3gtr's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
heres the link for the site. even if youre just browsing theres some decent erotica in there to get the juices flowing.. not sure about their rep though.. there have been conflicting reports on the net. Im going to check the place out next weekend after i got to Tokyo auto salon! www.king-buyer.co.jp/ Insanity, ive posted a question about Euros. I wonder if its possible to import one under the private import scheme in LHD guise?? do they have to be a certain age to qualify? i wonder whats involved.. -
under the private import scheme, are left hand drives eligible? or are they striclty right hand drive only? from recent memory, only classic cars were eligible for registration...like pre 1970..at least in SA it was like that. If its possible then it opens up Euro import options for me, as theres a stack of cars here in Japan that go pretty cheaply...can anyone advise on this?

A Few Questions From An Expat
m3gtr replied to m3gtr's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
thats a big surprise but it begs another question. If my car has twin GT2835 pro S turbos, packing 700 hp,half cage, dash loaded with blitz, hks and APEXi gauges, a turbo timer, torque splitter, 20 inch rims, is wide body, has a GT wing, covered in stickers, not to mention a custom pearl paint job, then id realistically be able to register it for the street? i know im being pedantic, but this is an extreme example. its not a logical one but i just had to ask. realistically, consider a 500hp version of the above... if what you say iis true Razorsharp, then you have made me a happy man. Still, is it really going to be worth my time effort and money maintaining a car like that in Japan, exporting it back to oz, only to find that the market has deteriorated even further? ive been watching market trends and checking info over the past 2 years ive been living away from OZ and im concerned at how sharply prices have been declining across the board. A 1993 GTR with 70k odd kilometeres, in decent nick and with some fruit that was selling for up to 35 thousand dollars is now just 20!! Its led me to question whether its still financially viable to export a car..albeit at the rate of only 1 per year. That one car could boost my yearly earnings here by as much as 10 Thousand AUS. Is there something im missing? You are a long time member of SAU so im sure youre more clued in than I as to whats been going on back there. Care to shed any light on this subject.. cause sometimes i feel like a mushroom over here..kept in the dark and fed bullshite. maybe ill go European. Euro's hold their value better than Japanese, IMHO. -

Stealth, it will be a private import. it will not be coming in under raws. You have said that all mods must be removed prior to compliancing. Yet you say that top mount turbos are admissable. these are not standard parts. so can you clarify what parts are admissable under the private import scheme? a little more detail will help a great deal to me and anyone else in this situation and seeing as you are a signatory you may well be able to offer some timely advice in this area.. cheers
