  1. Gees you make it all sound so complex- just go to Super cheap - (off memory one is 550mm and the other is 600mm) and switch them over, they just pop on off. Takes 3 mintues each side. The twin blade ones wipe away the same amount of water as the top end ones dont they...

Super cheap wanted $50 each, online theyre $40 delivered for a pair...

  2. 350Z has same connector etc? If you get it cheap of Amaya (or whatever it is) almost be worth taking the punt.

Golf R would be fun. Big fan of the Golf.

Aaron will buy another Stagea. Unless the bastard is getting a new A45 AMG.

How's the 180 going? I have seen no updates in too long.

  3. ok Josh's comment got me interested, so I dug through my email and found the invoice.

    Bosch AR18U - 9.24 pounds

    Bosch AR21U - 10.15 pounds

8.10 pounds delivery, 27.49 total, so about $40 at today's conversion rate.

The 8.10 works out to $11.82 AUD delivery. To me, thats about what I'd pay locally for delivery, so no big deal.

  4. Ah, that answers my other question. Why not do trans yourself?

I've got written down that you can use trans fluid in the transfer case, but I can't remember if that's what we actually did.

  5. Finally found time to get on here. Work has been a bitch lately and just no time for fun stuff like cars and forums.

Car is sitting in the back yard, where it hasn't moved in at least 2 weeks or so. Battery on charge. When it's got power again I'll put it in and try and get it running on F-con. Hate driving it on the stock ECU now, uses 2-3L/100 more fuel and just doesn't feel as strong.

Now that the boost spiking appears to be fixed and I've got the Scotty actuator in, it should be ready for a retune. See if it can do any more on 17PSI, rather than about 188kW @ 7PSI last time :/

If I can't get the throttle fixed soon myself it'll be going back to the tuners for them to fix it - after all, they said they had F-con experience, should be able to get it working. I have some setup info from elsewhere that might help too. It's tuned on AFM and I really think it needs to be on MAP to work properly the way everything is setup and wired.

Anything else exciting going on in here? Alex has a 180, Spoolin's Stag has a new owner (what did he buy?) and Aaron is getting ready to buy a new Stag?

  6. Sorry Rich, the translating contact was through someone at work who is on maternity leave, so not easy to get them to pick it up.

The guy at G-Zone speaks little to no English. If you're really dead keen, I'd get Jesse Streeter to do the gophering for you and just pay his commission The Japanese lady who was doing the translation for me didn't understand cars, and that made things much harder.

I've gone F-con myself, there are a few other benefits to going with something like that. But is there really NO ONE in Tassie you can trust to tune it?

  7. I spent ages trying to work it out. Realised rather than looking for other Nissan's they matched up to, it was easier to use the tape measure. End result is perfect, just wished I'd done the rear at the same time.

  8. Mine has had so much neglect lately I went to move it today and the battery was dead :/

It's on charge now, hopefully it bounces back so I can muck around with the F-con tomorrow. If I can get the damn throttle working again it's going in to get retuned after fixing the boost spiking.

  9. Had my first track day. originally sold my ticket as my cars only semi tuned and was just going to leave it in the show and shine(the reason why i took my bumper off to attract some attention lol). And eventually caught the bug when i saw the guys going around.. going around half throttle though, cant wait till shes fully tuned

only did two runs my faulkens where chewed, this tracks not really not much of a track its called midvale speed dome in perth and is used for defensive driving etc.

Sounds awesome mate! When it's finished you'll have to get some numbers too!

  10. Yep, I've got them. Bought them from some speciality wiper web site in the UK. Worth every cent. Think I got both fronts for about $40 delivered from the UK, when similar blades were $50-60 EACH in Australia.

  11. Only if you're getting a mechanical inspection. Maybe hit up Craig (Jetwreck) and see if he can help.

So much doesn't add up with that car I'd be looking elsewhere. Guys importing their own are paying a lot less too.

  12. You don't need the afm anymore Ryan, you just need to sort out the fcon. :P

I reset all the ecu's in my car yesterday, now I have no airbag light flashing, and the engine light is off. First time I have had a clear dash since I bought it 4 years ago.

It did have an 'app' code, which I assume is Accelerator Pedal Position, I have another sensor on order at Nissan to rule it out. Hopefully that's all it is, otherwise I will have to disconnect the cruise for a while I guess. If it keeps going into limp mode then, I will be going for a new ecu, either a 350z Haltech platinum pro or a Link g4, for the throttle and cam drivers. That should fix it.

How much was the accelerator position sensor Scotty?
  13. Drove very slowly until I could pull over & disconnect my AFM.

I've been wondering for several years when it would fail & what it would feel like.

Not as exciting as you might think. :/

Heh. Not exciting at all. Last time I forgot to reconnect it - my fail. Pretty easy and not incredibly expensive fix thankfully!

  14. Did you play with the throttle curve at all Ryan? If so, I would put it back to stock. Mine will fault occasionally, but it is still running fine most of the time as a daily.

The stock ecu is checking the voltage outputs from the pedal and throttle continuously, if it detects even a slight variance it will fault. As the pedal voltage goes through the cruise and the Fcon it wouldn't take much to affect the resistance. You could try cleaning all the plugs, and perhaps disconnecting the cruise and see if the Fcon works again?

Yeah I have mate. I'll put it back to stock and give it a try.

I've already disconnected the cruise, made no difference so I reconnected. Works fine with the F-con disconnected so it's either map or setup related on the F-con. DAMMIT!

  15. i ll get a brand new afm from nissan and install it.. unfortunately i dont know how to read the error codes even tho i went thru the posts which explain it.

the smoke is dark color more like black than blue or white. But i can certainly smell some oil burning too.

i ll post the results when i get the new afm.

    Cheers

I had trouble with reading the error codes too. You just need to read through the instructions and try it a couple of times: http://m35stagea.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11

    Here's the code explanation: http://m35stagea.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12

Once you've had a couple of goes you'll get it. Makes it a lot easier to fix once you know whats going on.

  16. Put the Nismo mats in - I'll get you a photo soon Josh.

Also reconnected the Cruise Control and the F-con. Sadly as soon as I started the car with the F-con connected I had no throttle and a fault code appeared.

Disconnect F-con, throttle came back, fault code disappeared.

    More work required sadly...
