  1. So as long as the rings seal in nicely after a good dyno run, whatever the cam profile doesnt affect the run in.. nice one. Im still a little confused with the whole process as there are a few schools of thought and ive never experienced a rebuild like this before. Oblivion: I guess you're right and the mechanics should know.. but Is there a specific guideline as to how much max boost & rpm to run during the initial dyno tune? Some say not to underload and some not to overload.. I guess Im just a little paranoid and wanna make sure these guys do whats best, especially when it comes to my beloved ride! Cheers guys and sorry for the silly questions.
  2. Hello all. Im in a little bit of a dilemma. Im putting in a 2.8l Tomei stroker kit into my R34 GTR with also more aggressive 270 degree and higher lift cams. My question is, during the break-in/ run-in, should I have already installed the 270 cams or should I just stick to the stock cams and then change them out and run them in separate? My mechanic intends to install the cams prior to the run-in and im wondering if this would pose any problems or not. Thanks a lot guys.
  3. Hello Skyline17, those pictures were actually all taken in Sunway, PJ, in front of Links and Quatermile.. Advertised in one of the car windows, Mr Kee is the owner of Links & the Black R34GTR with the Veilside bodykitt belongs to a friend.. previously studying in Perth.
  4. Nice work mate, great to see a 31 with such oomph... not sure about the V8 tho..
  5. Yeah, there are lots of Evo wannabes around... my 34 GTR has been in Penang for a while as my parents live there, but Penang has horrible roads. Havent seen a 33 or 32, but a few 34 GTTs... Im still in the US, and some parts from Tomei have finally arrived. Pics at this link. ofloveandcarbonfibre.blogspot.com How I wish I was there to be able to feel and caress all the shiny bits! Good thing the missus is around to do so for me and take the pics. Major work will start in about 2 weeks when the counter crankshaft arrives.
  6. Yes, grant, its absence! Patience makes my brain go mad... All this waiting is doing my head-in, hehe
  7. Hello guys, havent been around much lately. Just got my turbo's delivered prior to the tomei stroker kit. Now its delayed till mid next month.. But as they say, patience makes the heart grow fonder. Some pics on the turbos on my blog if any of u wanna have a look-see. Cheers.
  8. Hello Tan Sri Drift... good to see you somewhere out of ZTH.. hehe.. Hey, there's 3 cheap R34GTRs on ZTH for sale.. dont know about it tho, sounds kinda dodgy with the customs issue and all.. Guys: sorry havent been posting here lately, been spending some time with the family back home.. Slippery: Jaffri's advice is spot on, but also if you're in the Sunway area, you might want to check out places like Links, N1, Wangan & Quatermile to name a few. Quatermile has sort of a joint-venture with Autoselect Japan for tuning & Autoselect parts, and Wangan has good contacts for Tomei parts & TopSecret Carbon Fibre bits..
  9. Wow, there are so many of you guys from Malaysia on SAU... No worries for rides Bluechip, so long as she's out of the workshop! Yawn; she's at Blitz Garage in Sunway at the mo.. and she might be there for a while yet, as all stroker kits suddenly went out of stock, Tomei, Jun, HKS, etc.. due to the Tokyo Autosalon... some lucky people must have got brand-new parts for cheap recently in tokyo... and yeah, those long, wide roads can be real bumpy if you've got stiff suspension, especially if you're a passanger in one of the rear seats.. But there are some great windy, uphill/downhill roads as well, and many of which I've yet to discover..
  10. Hello Wink, yeap, skylines are expensive here, and the R34GTR is still around that price range.. a lot of the enthusiasts are waiting for the 2007 GTR to be released, with the hope that the R34 will drop in price. Im not sure how many R34GTRs there are in Malaysia, but there are quite a few. Everynow and then we spot them, and post them on the 'skyline spotted' thread on our forum. Craig: Hehe, yeap been to Putrajaya for a ride.. nice deserted roads, especially at night.. my car is actually at Sunway now, but I dont think anyone would be able to drive it, as the engine is on a hoist! But there are quite a few bayside blue GTRs around, I just havent met the owners in person yet. The most popular R34 are probably white GTTs.. you see them all the time.
  11. I may not be around in March, as I do 6 weeks work in the US and 6 weeks time-off at home, but you can still meet with the club when they have their friday night meet-ups in the Sunway/PJ area.. the club is big, but during the meetings we only get a handful of members, as most of them are busy working men.. Other times, we meet up with other groups, & have big convoys with Supras & EVOs as well.. There is a link to the club forum on my blog.. As for parts, 2nd hand parts go for about half the price of brand new, but subject to availability. I do not know prices all that well, but I can get in touch with my mechanic mate back home for some quotes.. he is the man in the know and with all the contacts.. When I got my ride, it already came with the ARC radiator, but it sure is good, when the other cars have to stop to 'cool-off', my temp is still ok.. so must be doing something right..
  12. JUN: Haha.. Sungei Wang? There are quite a few new ones now.... The Skyline Club we have is also quite active.. theres a link to that on my blog.. We have heaps of those Protons! We've also got heaps of, 'Wajalutions' & 'Wiralutions'.. proton derived EVO wannabes.. I hope the car will be ready in 4-6 weeks, as after that I still have to run-in the engine.. and hit max rpm & boost soon!
  13. Hello Sean, my hometown is actually Penang! And yeap, traffic is total chaos... But now, living on the outskirts of KL, there are some pretty nice roads here, not to meantion Sepang!
