  1. Is this a furfy or is there truth in it http://www.themotorreport.com.au/12020/nis...e-mans-edition/
  2. This is Vid of my other car and its a Commo with 9 year old paint. it lives all its life in the Weather. I have stepped up over the years with several different brands including Megs & Mothers and still use some of there products, just not their Waxes, as I have found others to be superior in durability and cheaper in their use. My Commy and HR31 Coupe now have a Zaino Z2 base with Dodo Juice Supernatural Wax on top. This vid gives and idea of what a top class sealant or wax can do. Oh this is on a well prepped & corrected car. The Zaino give me 12 months protection and the Wax just for bling

    Oh Yeah Baby

Oh yeah baby I have happy pants GTR FIA GT1
  4. Nope after the first coat of wax is layered I wait for 1 hour then wipe down with Distilled water in a spray bottle and MF cloth then put another layer down, . If im doing a 3 layer wax or sealant I will wait over night before putting down the third layer,If you have time the ultimate way to lay Sealant is to let 24hrs between layers, but I have good results with my method and because it may have picked up contemnants over night I will re-wash and lay the last coat of LSP being either Wax or Sealant. My cars Black so I have 3 coats of Sealant & 3 Wax and top the Wax every 3 months only because I like to and keep it shiny in between with a quick detailer after every wash. I Glaze monthly to keep any light marks I may have put in it during that time. This is my yearly Raegime (Spelling) 1. Polish every 12 months (Menzerna) 2. Sealant every 12 months (Zaino Z2) 3. Wax every 3-4 months Dodo juice supernatural 4. Glaze Monthly (CG Ez Creme) 5. Quick detailer after every wash (CG Speed wipe)
  5. Dodo waxes are good, I use Supernatural & Blue Velvet. Paul Dalton had a run in with Zymol, so now is in bed with Swissvax, and has bought out his signiture wax (Crystal Ice) Sorry to bag Megs waxes but they are on the bottom of my list, but in saying that they have other good products.
  6. I gather you talking about Zymol or Swissvax? if so they can both be bought in Aust Zymol waxes go from a couple of hundred dollars up to Thiry G's. Also there are other Waxes that are just as good for $100-$300. My own belief is that these crazy priced waxes are all wank factor.
  7. Yep chuck 3 layers of Sealamt on. Do 2 Today and then wash Tomorrow and 1 more, makes a big diffrence in look and durability, then Pics
  8. Ok My advise 1.Wash Megs Softwash Gel with Lambswool mitt Cost Mitt $18 Softwash Gel $12 2. Dry with Microfibre Chamois Cost $22 3. Claybar with Megs Clarbar & Lube $36 4. Polish with AutoGlym Super resin Polish this will clean and Fill in Swirls to a point, may need a couple of layers $26 5. Autoglym Extra Gloss Sealant 3 coats follow instrucrion. $31 Also get some 4 Microfibre Cloths to polish off the Resin & Sealant, and foan applicators for the Polish & Sealant
  9. Ill keep this on the Cheap, Megs NXT or Gold Class or softwash Gel will do. With a Chamois dont use a synthetic one, buy a Microfibre Chamois Or waffle weave towel, but you wont get The Waffle weave out of your Supercheap or Autobarn. Do you want to buy online or go to your local Autobarn? as this will change my advise.
  10. It will be Metalic Silver with Clear Coat. I am Detailing one in a week or two, I will post up some pics when done for you.
  11. The one you have pictured does not have much grunt and dont last long, put any force on them and they either stop or burn out, they are for basic laying down a Sealant or Wax and buffing up. You would not do any heavy correction with it.
  12. Yeah it a buffer its light and a RO so cant do damge unlees you fall asleep while using it. Autobarn may be ablle to get it for you but they tend not to be to interested in Helping if its not something in the shop. They are $299 from the link below. Once you have learned to use it charge your mates to do their cars and get you money back http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/product/...action_polisher
  13. If you ever purchase a polisher go for the Megs G220 RO they are a nice beginner unit, they are fool proof, may take longer than a rotary, but skill factor required is low. Dont be scared and go for it.
  14. Basicly Cut & polish is (best I can put it) 1. Cut - An abrasive polish that removes Clear coat or paint to remove imperfections in the paint ei: Swirls and scratches, it is removed after correction is done, no protective properties what so ever. There are different grades from corse to fine for the final shine (Bling). 2. Polish Is an Paint cleaner it removes mild grime and contanamant from you paint to leave a lustre, no protective qualities what so ever and is buffed off after the process (Unless its an All in one, another story) 3. Sealant/Wax Has no correction properties what so ever, but has paint protection, puts a layer on your paint. Can contain oils and other chemicals go protect your paint from UV, Bird poo to a point, you still need to remove it as soon as possible. and other airborne contanimants. I would say a sacraficial layer. Also enhances the shine you have put on your Car in the Cut & Polish process. Its basicly protects all the work you have done in the previous Polishing process Process I use every twelve months only 1. Wash with good Auto Shampoo PH Neutral a bucket & Lambswool mitt ( Do not use your DIY Brush Aaaaaarh) 2. Clar Bar 3. Correction or Cut & polish to the old, I use varying Abrasive polishes depending on work needed. to get shine. 4. Wash 5. Sealant/Wax I cant emphasise the importance of the polish process as this! adds the shine to your car not the wax/sealant, wich enhances the paint thst has just been polished to a high shine, If you have a faded car, no Wax Sealant will give you a show car shine.
  15. You cant, Anything you get from either Supercheap and Autobarn are made for the mass market and are not very durable, (but if you wax you car every month it not a problem). and are average to good, comparing them to some of the boutique brands . If I was to pick some from these shops I would say in order. Autoglym, Mothers and Megs. I buy from online as they have the better products and it is very easy to purchase, I also dont follow one brand, I have several as they tend to have excellant ones and half average ones in their ranges, its taken a long time and a lot of money to find out . If you feel like looking at a few reputable ones I use, here are some links. Also quick list of what I use. and ones I want to try, they very in price to not bad to selling a lung. Polishes abrasive - Menzerna range polishes non abrasive - PoorBoys Glazes - Chemical guys EZ Creme & Megs #7 Sealants Zaino Z2, Duragloss 111 &105 & Poorboys EX-P Waxes Dodo Juice Blue Velvet (6 months), Collinite 915 (12 months), Poorboys & Nattys Blue (Cheap but not durable 2-3 months) Wish list Wax - Dodojuice Supernatural, Swissvax Concourse & Chemical Guys 50/50 Waxit CarCare Chemical Guys
  16. In one word Yes! You have a pretty good idea already with that list of steps, The paint Cleaning and polishing is the most important part of the processe as it is the part that actualy gives you the shine, there are two types of polish, abrasive and non- abrasive,. Abrase has cutters in it and are used to remove imperfection such as scratches and swirl marks. Non is used to remove surface contanaments or light oxidation and to finish or give a lustre to your paint. The Sealant & wax only enhance it, so dont skimp on that bit. If you dont have a polisher to get out all the Swirl marks go for somthing like Autoglym Super resin polish or a Glaze as it has good filling properties to hide them. If your cars a light colour either Silver or white only use a sealant as a Wax will not make it any noticably better. With Megs polishes they dont last long 2-3 months if lucky. were somthing like Zaino Z2 ($48) or Durgloss 105 ($25) will give you 12 months protection. and to keep it shiney never use a DIY brush take a Bucket with Shampoo and a Megs Lambs wool mitt.
  17. Yes & no! there are some great sealants out there like Zaino Z2 and Duragloss 105 with 3 layers and good prep work before hand will give you a great shine. With Waxes they tend to give you the depth in Metalic paints. I use both I put 3 layers of sealant (Z2) and have 3 layers of Wax. The sealant gives me 12 months of paint protection and the Wax adds the bling. Also remember the Preperation is the key factor to a shiny car, if you paint is faded or heavily swirled you will not get as good of a result as if you done paint correction or cleaned your paint with a polish prior to laying down you LSP the only exception to this is if you use a Glaze (Megs#7, PB Black hole, Chemical Guys EZ Creme)prior to the laying down of the Sealant/Wax as they have fillers and will fill minor maring and swirls. Just to add to this Sealants tend to give better result on light coloured cars than Wax. So if you are only going to use one product I would go Silver and whites (Sealant ) Blacks blues, red (Wax). Also be aware Wax brands have different life spans on your car as an Example Megs NXT expect 2 months, Collinite & SwissVax 4-6 months. This is not and issue if you clean and LSP your car regulary.
  18. Sealant and then Wax not the other way round. as some sealants will not adhere to wax. and the idea is the sealant gives you your shine and the Wax gives you the Depth.
  19. Most Waxs and sealants give you a better shine as you layer them, as a general concensus 3 layers will give you the best result any more does not give you any better result. Just a couple Zaino Z2(sealant) 6 months Collinite 915 (Wax) 6 Months Duragloss Total Performance Polish #105 (sealant)6months Swissvax Concours (Wax) 4 months Megs NXT (sealant/Wax) 2 months
  20. This is the bit that interest me "The car is also rumored to be running a naturally-aspirated 4.5L VK45DE V8 engine instead of the production model’s twin-turbo 3.8L V6. The V8 mill is the same unit used by Nissan for its SuperGT race car."

This looks very interesting, is this the future of the GTR FIA GT1 Race Car
  22. Just an update on NXT 2.0. some tests on an world forum has shown that NXT 2.0 durability is fairly descent compared to V1 giving up to 2 month protection, the Wax just out performed the liquid so it is getting there. Hey and how many of us love detailing our rides every month or so? so the durabilty would not be an issue if you top it.
  23. Everyone must remember that you will get varying results with any Wax or sealant if the Prep work is not done properley, using a relevant Polish first to remove imperfections is the most important part to get a good finish. The Wax will only enhance what is under it.
  24. Have a look at this thread, has some interesting reading http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Po...ax-t128481.html
