  1. I work at a Subaru dealership.... but at the moment im just doing some extra training at the Motor Trade Association (MTA).. im just an apprentice but im getting there
  2. We'll all just have to get diesel engines then.. a 900 cubic inch cummins engine ... shouldn't be anything to fry on there.
  3. At work we just do a 4 gas emissions test, giving the amount of hydrocarbons parts per million, Oxygen, Carbon monoxide, and Carbon dioxide as a percentage. Once the catalytic converter has reached operating temperature, the hydrocarbon readings should come pretty close 0, if your runing too rich the hydrocarbons reading will be a lot higher so you can have it adjusted accordingly.
  4. It is apperently a common problem with 32's, it happened to a mate of mine a couple months back, he has a tripple plate, very heavy. Anyway when the bracket was rewelded it was heavily reinforced to avoid it happening again. So maybe anybody with a heavy clutch mite want to consider reinforcing it to avoid having your pedal snap off while in heavy traffic or wherever.
  5. Hmm, Its pretty tempting, but theres still the problem of getting it to Adelaide.. I don't really want to spend too much since theres a good chance that it wont be in there for much longer than 6 months.. I'm still planning on the RB20DET conversion.. Just need to get a bit of time off work and see if i can borrow one of the hoists in the workshop ... I don't think they would be that nice but I need to find myself a shed at least.
  6. Gus, If you wern't in NZ i would have been real keen on taking the 5 spd off you if it came down to wrecking.. ahhwell
  7. Check timing belt or surrounding areas.. there may be evidence of the 100,000km service.
  8. id love to get my hands on some of the stuff on that site.. but my wallet isn't really feeling to good yet.. so I won't b able to join in the group buy.. ahhwell.. maybe next time if you ever want to do it again. Oh yea BTW the workshop manual covers all Australian, Hong Kong, and other delivered R30's covering the L18, L20B, L24, and L24E engines.
  9. I dont really come on here too much so i really only check out the SA thread.. ahh i havnt had too much time to work on the site but im just making up a spec sheet at the moment.. not too sure what else i should add information wise.. but if ya have any ideas.. id love to hear em.. i could probably find most information in the manual.
  10. Just thought i may aswell add my name here aswell 1983 RMR30 (Hatch) Ti still runing fine at 320000 kms so im not complaining.. I have the original workshop manual direct from nissan so if theres anything specific anyone needs from it just drop me a pm.. unfortunately it doesnt cover the FJ20 models however i do have part of it on my site in the technical section.
  11. OK.. when do we start the protest.. I'll make sure im holding a banner there..
  12. Alot of defects are based around emission laws.. Australia is starting to get really harsh on these laws partly because they dont want our air turning into what Japan has. After removing the cat.. all the shit that would normally b absorbed through the honeycomb stuff goes into our air instead.. same laws go for BOV's emissions need to be burnt back into the exhaust.. im not sure what other emissions defects are out there to get us. The one defect i have never been able to understand is the defecting of turbo timers.. i see nothing wrong with them considering a lot of trucks etc.. use them.
  13. 318,000 and still going strong.. The good ol' L24 is bullet proof...
  14. Sure, If there is anything specific that you want (and you can be very specific, if its not writtin in black & white in this book then the info doesnt exist, its amazing) I'll be rewritting and uploading a few things to my site.. the 1 in my signature thing.. eventually.. but I havnt got alot of time at the moment but I will try my best. Tim
  15. This is a little bit off topic.. but i picked up the nicest deal today.. the entire Model R30 Series Service Manual direct from Nissan.. a few hundred pages worth.. for a mear 40 bucks... .. im cheering.
