  1. Well update: I sent the car to mercury motorsport in wilston on newmarket rd. Fixed the problem within two hours, so while it was there i brought a sliding performance high flow turbo, dump pile, fuel pressure reg, and asked them to tune and remap ecu. HEHEHE couldn't help it i have been missing my boost! Apparently, cracked spark plugs which is disappointing idiriums didn't even go 100 kms. Hopefully, i can pick up my car on wed/thur and go for a strap!! wonder how she will go.................................. thinking about injectors now! p.s compression test was done 165 tpo 175 across the board! and she was running lean! lol
  2. 165 - 175 rb20det 220XXX kms...... very suprized! done by the mechanic........... I performed my own compression test even across!
  3. YEh its a good suggestion for plp who encounter it next time!
  4. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR>.................. i miss my boost! 12psi ain't much but its better than my daily driver! Poor good relible toyota.
  5. Nisskid: i have swapped the ignitor pack before with no improvement and i should try and pull out some of the coils when idling to see if it makes a different but i been lazy and it revs fine when its completely cold! first turn over so its weird! loloror: or whatever ur name is . I will post a solution! if they find it. QUESTION: would a stuffed temp sensor cause these symptoms and won't it come up as a ecu selfdiag code?
  6. Same thing happened to me! Check out my post! Few ideas there or PM me http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...=166336&hl=
  7. I have done the self-diag and the ECU returns...... 54 = auto trans d/c > auto to man conversion 12 = AFM but i have changed the afm and it still returns a code 12 only reason i think it is a heady..... just little specks of black stuff from the exhaust it feels wet but its not wet to touch!
  8. Ummm..... actually ihaven't tried that! apparently nercury specialize in rb20s soo hopefully! i will look into it
  9. Thanks Cubes, Yeh dropping the car to the mechanic soon after lossing a diagnositic battle with my rb20det! Soo hopfully they can tell me whats the go with my car.... and i should be able to pull together 2-3 grand for a refresh of the bottom half and top hopefully! I wait for the diagnosis from the mechanic then figure it out.... i would like to have a rb20 that is reliable and fairly powerful. Some weekend drives and short run work and back. i would like to push btn 180 to 200 kws if i can afford it!
  10. i am sending it to mercury motorsport in newmarket.... hopefully they can figure it out for me! without charging me an arm / leg
  11. quick update: I have taken out the speedo and pulled out the needles a little bit and tinkered with the idea of replacing the individual dials (the white plastic mechanises behind the faces/plastic diffusers). Re-calibrated the tacho as baconer suggested ! and the tacho is now working well! however considering my skyline is broken down severly and i haven't been able to go boosting for a while i can' re-calibrate the speedo/temp/oil guage...... my skyline sounds like a rexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Heller44: Totally right.......... rb26 well it would fit easy so would a 4wd stagea (i think) and i would love the extra response and power from both those engines! The 26 has soo much modding potential but realistically i cant afford to run a 26 when i go back to uni. I am working now but full-time uni = no money = no rb26dett = gts4diehard: I called a jap wrecker the yesterday (any jap - bris) and he said the same thing u did. That the block is slightly different and that u could swap the engine models but only one way... So gts4-t to gtst but not gtst to gts4-t The only reason i am freaking out is because my car started heistating/stalling/misfiring can't find the problem so i am sending it to a mechanic but i think it might be a slight leak in the HEADGASKET so i thought a newer fresher rb would be a cheaper/more reasonable idea.
  13. run a ECU self-diag! takes seconds and any idiot can read it! well if u know how! PM if u don't konw how to do it
  14. Does it rev freely? misfire? sound like a rexy?
  15. HEy guys, i am wondering what the differences are between the rb20det in a gts-t and a gts4-t in a r32? sump? front diff? Are they interchangable if u change the sump? I have a gts4-t and i am looking for a newer fresher rb20det but gts4-t are quite hard to find, well newer engines!
  16. Thanks champ, I am hoping this is what my problem is! i wil have a go tomorrow - my day off! sweet and i will keep u posted!
  17. Looking for parts in good working order and good condition: 1. manual gearboot surround/stereo-ac surround 2. gts4-t instrument cluster PM me........ preferrably in brisbane/QLD
  18. Yeh there was instuction and there was a disclaimer about the needle removal. Surprize surprize! the instructions stress that u need to take a photo of where the needles are! and i took note! Ie you only need to look at the fuel guage! all the rest should be at the bottom! How do u recalibrate???
  19. Swapped ignitor with working rb20det... no deal! It seems to spit out some small black clumps (feel slightly wet) from the exhaust and begining to think it maybe a head gasket leak which comes to life when the engine warms up! HOwever maybe i should just bring it to a mechanic which specialize in rb20 skylines! any recommendations guys?
  20. Yeh that is a good idea... it is hard to pick a workshop that won't bone me for all i am worth and that can fine the problem easily and quickly. any recommendations?? in brisbane CDB/brisbane GT auto - it already been there mercury motor sport STZ automotve opition1garage
  21. Thanks for the input guys if u ever return to this tread to read it. It was a replacement white face not the EL ones that slide over the orginials it was from Reckless motor sports... Good dials but i definiately will try baconer idea...... sounds like a go'er thanks again guys i will post an update - car is not in a good running state currently! awwwwwwwwwww i miss boost! daily driver is an N/A
  22. There is a little white smoke at the start when cold.... then it passes! oil doesn't look throthy, but might seem a little less viscose, and the radiator seems to have a little trace or chemicals/oil on the top but it isn't milky.
  23. Clogged injector? should i use an injector cleaner? which one? or Do u send it to a shop?
