Wrecking 1997 R33 Gtst
Spunky Munky replied to SXC_R33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi mate, I'm after the window control arm covers (the plastic piece that sits on top of the window near the control and the coin inserts. Will PM you. Need ASAP so name your price and I will buy. -
Hey mate, try giving Unique Autosports a call on: http://www.nismo.com.au/ I bought a R33 GTR N1 front bar from them a while back so they may be able to give you help. Cheers

I suggest just the usual midnight black. Very tough and nice but hard to keep clean. Silver is nice too but doesn't look very sporty (in my opinion) but always looks the part and has a formal look to it which is nice also. Matte black in my opinion is not nice as it makes the car look 'flat' and 'tired' and is hard to keep clean also. At the end of the day, it's your car mate. Cheers.

Hi know how you feel mate. My wife recently gave birth to a baby so I now find myself having to depart with my beloved Skyline. Throughout the years I have spent countless dollars, time and most of all passion on it. Letting go is always a challenge. As everyone here would know at all degrees, modifying one's ride is a form of artistic expression. Just think of how much the next person will enjoy your car and your taste will of course carry on to them. You have somewhat given them a part of yourself. To me, this is a really nice thing to do. I can tell you are emotionally attached to your car. Nice way of expressing it mate. I feel your love and pride. It is indeed a very nice car and I'm sure the next owner will appreciate everything you have done to it and for it to each nut and bolt. Cheers.

Hi fellas, I must say, times have changed as I have noticed an increased number of car enthusiasts going from CF bonnets back to stock aluminum ones. Is it simply because of the age-old defect issue with cops or are people simply getting tired of the look and hassles with the CF ones? I mean, sure if you track your car then surely it does add some value in terms of weight loss etc, but for most (like myself previously included) it is simply an exterior item to add some more cosmetic appeal to the car. I have had two CF bonnets on my R33 so here are my experiences (these are just my own opinions so not suggesting that CF bonnets are bad in any way): - CF Bonnet SHOULD have bonnet pins as more often than not; at high speeds many people (including myself) will find that CF bonnets will become unattached and hitting the front windscreen which is both dangerous and costly to repair (my biggest issue). - They break quite easily, a few stone chips, having it unattached and hitting the windscreen etc will be very costly to repair - not to mention hard to do so (my second issue) - The vents on CF bonnets are good but I think the look is too "fast and furious" style and it's getting a bit too much in my opinion and I now find myself liking the slick, safe and stock look of the standard aluminum bonnets more. Moreover, rain water escapes through these vents and often than not will cause coil packs to be dampen so there's the fear of that too. Then there's the 'click clack' sound when the rain hits it which can be very annoying. - Finally, the issue of safety and although I stand to be corrected; if your car becomes involved in an accident, the CF bonnet will almost break and shatter instantly providing little if not no support to the car at all. Then there's the issue of fire, CF burns much quicker than metal so CF bonnets are safety issues (cops of course back this). So yeah, I've noticed a decline in CF bonnets on cars on the roads and if you look at forums, Ebay and other sales classifieds you will find that CF bonnets are not that rare anymore and are quite affordable and at most times are the same price or even cheaper than a stock aluminum bonnet. Why is this? I'm just curious to see if anyone's noticed this change and your thoughts on the reasons or is it just me that's not a big fan of CF bonnets any more??? Cheers. SM

For sure mate... HEy what would be the best tyre profies? Front 235/45/18 Rears 225/45/18 Also, does anyone know what the legal amount of tread remaining on wheels are in VIC? The rims I am getting will come with 50% tread left on all 4 rims - is this still legal? With the money I spending, don't want to spend more cash on tires until a few months' time. Thanks.

Ganador Mirrors On A R33
Spunky Munky replied to Spunky Munky's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Thanks guys - I have decided to install them... But the screws holding the adapter piece (from within the window area) is stuck as in the screw's grooves are worn - how the heck do I remove them now to get to the mirror? Any ideas? Also, does any of your mirrors have tilt-control? The stock ones have wires so you can change the directions and they should also fold in - do Ganador mirrors do this? Thanks to everyone's posting and pictures. You've made the decision easy. Much appreciated. Cheers. -
Ganador Mirrors On A R33

Thanks fellas...ok will do then... Can you guys post up some pics? -
Yeah I agree with you mate - the TE37's are probably the nicest rims to ever come out of Japan followed by the LMGT4's...they look good on all Skylines for sure...loved how you describe people's fit of rate when seeing them...for like $4.5K brand new I guess there is some logic why most people would choose not to go ahead with a set and rightfully so too...but I'm lucky, going to pick up a good set for $2.5K. What you think of this price range? Thanks mate.

Buying Hid's...questions
Spunky Munky replied to Savtraxx's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Basically, go 6000K if you want pure white look and 8000K if you want a bluer tinge. Both are illegal so don't kid yourself about saying 6K is legal. However, I personally find that 6K is fine for me. -
Here's your problem: - if you touch up the rim, it would look very ugly and will almost not blend in - if you leave it like that then that's even worse - if you repair the one rim and paint it, it will look newer than the other 3 and there is no guarantee it will look 100% like the original Sucks, but I suggest you just touch it up for now...that's the best option and the most cost effective one

So Its Happening Again..
Spunky Munky replied to skyln-r33!'s topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The same thing happened in my R33 - turned out it was actually some dead coil packs. Upgrade to Spitfires if you can and that should solve the problem. -
Hi mate, would it clear big brembos or other brake upgrades?

Hi guys, I recently picked up a nice set of R33 Ganador Mirrors. I first thought they were copies, but then I got them in the mail and in the inside of where all the wires are near the adapter piece there's some symbolic writing so perhaps they are real after all or good replicas? Anyway, I was wondering what do most people think of these mirrors on a R33 GTR? At first I didn't like them but a mate of mine had it on his R33 and it looks quite nice so I didn't to buy a set. What do you guys think? Nice or lame? And any pictures of them on your ride? I have not installed them yet so was wondering if they actually affect visibility at all??

Hi fellas, It's time for a rim upgrade for my R33, so decided on a set of Volk TE37's with 4 x TE37 18 + 10.5+15 for a GTR in gloss BLACK. I was tossing between a set of LMGT4's but decided on TE37's as I felt a 6 spoke rim looks nicer on a Skyline. What you guys think of these and where can I get a set of authentic Rays / Volk Racing stickers as the set I'm getting has the stickers but they're a bit faded. Do you guys agree that TE37's look tough on a GTR? DO YOU HAVE ANY PICTURES WITH THESE RIMS ON YOUR GTR?

I would say, 245/45/17's.

Lmgt4S Have A New Lease On Life
Spunky Munky replied to GTR-N1's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
I have said it before and I will say it again...the LMGT4 is amongst the only wheels worthy of a Nissan GTR. The only other rim that would possibly outrank the LMGT4 would be the Volk TE37's. Done. Good job with the restoration mate - looks mint. I wouldn't put centre caps on...looks tougher and more "time attack" without. -
R33 Parting
Spunky Munky replied to ssxRicho's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hey mate, do you have the front arm rest covers for the driver's side? Please PM me your mobile and I'll drop by today to buy. -
I have not decided on a spot yet. Was actually thinking of just shooting some hoops at a local park e.g. near Footscray Park or something for now until we ge enough numbers. Email me your contact details if you are interested. Thanks.

Hi fellas, I am interested in forming a basketball team. I have not played hoops since uni and it's been almost 8 years since I've picked up a basketball but recently have started to get into it again. I am looking for people in the same situation, i.e. don't want to play competitively yet just want to hook up afterwork or on the weekends for some casual basketball games and perhaps forming a competitive team later. If you're interested please call or email me as I'm interested in setting up a group of guys interested in hoops. Although it's prferrable that you're from the West side of VIC for convenience, by all means join up if you are willing to travel from other regions. There are no age restrictions and everyone is welcome. Cheers. Phone: 0401 966 954 Email: [email protected]
