my r32 does the exact same thing... sometimes bad, sometimes just jolts a bit and carries on.. feels like its running out of fuel.. im pretty sure its the afm, as i can feel it change from the afm to 02 sensor at 2500rpm, runs smoother, but can still muck up at higher rpm, but ive had it before where it wouldnt let me past 2500rpm, just hit a rev limiter. saving up for a safc so i can get a brand new z32 afm.. will also change 02 sensor and fuel pump for shits and giggles.

yeh you have to modify the n1 pump, an rb30 one will work fine.; also read when i was doing it, that the n1 pump, with its larger spacing and one less blade, is not suited for traffic situations, great on the open stretch or track, but idling away it doesnt flow as much... as its designed for higher than stock rpm, hence the larger space and one less blade.

removing hicas all together.
NZM.031 replied to NZM.031's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
haha man you must have used an an excavator to dig this thread up... ahh to be young and silly again... still silly, just not as young. for the record, i ended up getting a lock bar, and removing all the lines to the back, and making a 'well fabricated' u turn in place of the rear lines, the next idea was to replace the u turn pipe with an oil cooler of some sort, that didnt happen though and it was returned back to stock when i sold it. didnt worry about the light as it was on constantly anyway due to my steering boss. cheers Linton -

Drummond Motor Sport Coilovers
NZM.031 replied to Grunter's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
a guy i work with has used them for rallying in his excel, and an evo that he rallys with, he said they were great, but fell apart quickly as there were alot of little touches that just werent there, like locking rings, he said they were good, but needed constant attention and it added time to their stops, and he said he had to send them back to get rebuilt.. they also couldnt handle the pounding of the rallying after 6 months so he went with a slightly more expensive set that he could rebuild himself. -
Why Do People Remove The Rear Spoilers Of Gtr's?
NZM.031 replied to menace's topic in General Automotive Discussion
im all for playing around with a gtst, i think gtr's should be left well alone.. they look awesome as is. 33's need the gtr spoiler though, they just look soo much different without it, even the gtst looks so much better with it, and 34's need the wing aswell... its all relative to how low your car is, with a low car, a massive gt wing will look the goods, or no wing will look the goods, or the standard wing will look the goods, if its standard height, or looks near standard, then it makes a massive difference, as the spoiler increase the overall height of the body.. excluding the roofline.. think about it, a 32 gtst in standard height, looks high and skinny, the wing makes the boot line (thus the entire side of the car) 100mm higher.. taking it off makes the car look a bit sleeker as it doesnt have the wide guards of a gtr, but lower it, and it looks even lower again, thus looking longer and sleeker. but the r34 is a physically bigger car, with a high bootline even without the spoiler, no amount of lowering will make it look sleek because of its size, but a bigger wing and bigger rims can make the side of the car look physically smaller.. im not saying the r34 doesnt look good, just they are bigger than a 32, and fatter. the wings weigh around 5-10kg though, so remove that, the rear wiper and motor, boot trim, springs for bootlid, jack and spare for track days and youve removed nearly 20kg from behind the axle, it all adds up, plus with the big rear muffler replaced by a nice light cannon and youve saved a fair amount of weight.. as well as pendulum like momentum cheers Linton -
soo, with the speed and non speed drivers?? is that like people who are their for drifting and people for hammering the track, or is it just, like novices finding their legs, and more experienced "speed" drivers?? and what about cams license?? is it required??

usually a geabox noise will change when changing gear or accellerating/decellerating as the rpms in the gearbox constantly change with the gear/engine mix, if itsa constant noise, look at wheels... are your pads getting low?? could be the screamers on your pads. they start to squeak lightly when they are getting low, and scream when they need replacing. just bend them out of the way if you dont want new pads yet. i just chased this problem up for a mate with a rex, we were chasing suspension noises, tyre noises (he has semi slicks), rubbing noises, and then realised that it was the lhf wheel bearing, it died as the rex has coilovers and semi slicks and he loves smashing round a bouts, putting alot of weight on the lhf. it would only do it when warm, which i thought as we are having hotter days now, that the lhf semi was becoming ultra grippy or worn enough that it was getting sweaty and slipping.. but nah, it was the wheel bearing.

there is no overkill with fuel, it will just return to the tank if its not needed.. i had an 044 on a near stock 33, came in handy when i wanted a bigger turbo, didnt have to worry bout fuel issues. as for noise... well, it wasnt that noisy, but to be honest, i loved the noise.. i didnt have any smell issues either.. why cant you run an 040 externally??

to replace the hoses that go over the top of the engine, get a catch can... cusco has the best hoses i think but they are clear so unless you like to flush them alot, they get very oily and not so good looking, check pirtek etc, for lines suitable for oil.. put a bung in the manifold from the one that goes from the left hand (looking front on) rocker cover to the manifold and a bung in the intake pipe and mount the catch can either as far as you can in the upper right of the engine bay, or over near the master cylinder if you can fit it there. as the breathers on the rocker cover point back, these are the only 2 ways to mount it neatly, but you want to keep it away from the turbo so as to reduce heat. a cheap one will do the job if your not going to plumb it back in aslong as it has a filter for venting.. or just drill a few small (and i mean small) in the top. if you want to plumb it back in to be super legal, then you will need a decent one like cusco or greddy so as to not upset the flow.. ive seen cheap ones like drift etc blow lines and create lots of blowby etc. if you get one with a drain plug (recommended) check if its baffled internally.. ie, has stuff inside it... otherwise get some steel wool balls from the supermarket and sqaush em in there to baffle it. cheers Linton

i think he meant the hoses etc. ebay has lots of different coloured hoses in different sizes. youll need 6mm 8mm and 10mm i think, get a metre or 2 of each... and get silicon hoses if you can, i got cheaper rubber ones once and they kept sucking in when hot and split the wastegate line.. they are also a bit more resitant to leaks for the charcoal cannister fumes and radiator overflow bottle line., just dont use them for fuel or coolant lines and youll be right, anything for vacuum/boost, go for it. use cable ties (of the same colour if you like) on all of them while your at it while your at it, make sure you route them nice and neat, they should be there to help the appearance of you engine bay with colour, but not be the main appearance. you can get silicon radiator hoses now too, in whatever colour you want, aslong as its blue or red. as for the rest of the engine bay, hook in with spray and wipe, carby cleaner, spray it on any bare aluminium (dont get it on your paint) and armourall or silicon spray... spray it on anything black (hoses, condute and wiring thats taped up, top of your radiator and timing cover and coil pack cover if its not painted) and it will look like brand new, just wipe it off so as not to get that over greasy, wet, dripping look. also painting little bits like brackets (the ones that hold your radiator still, radiator and oil cap, etc) can make a big difference for not much effort. cheers Linton

Newcastle And Central Coast Skyline Spotted Thread
NZM.031 replied to -Jimmy-'s topic in New South Wales
blitzxtr, its a gunmetal 32 gtst, standardish looking except hacked up gtr front bar and front mount, i saw you on the pacific highway as i was turning right into alice st, and ive also seen your car parked in rose st, just up from my house. no drama. i dont expect gtr drivers to wave.. so any is a bonus, hahaha, sorry bout calling you arrogant... but you saw me or you were looking straight through me. -
i too have taken the wing off my 32.. it makes the car look lower and sleeker, being that its not fat like a gtr, thats all it has, its also excess weight that isnt necessary, as is the rear wiper and motor, and rear boot trim, and the hicas and lines. i also hacked up the front bar to get more air to the cooler, i did a neat job and will tidy it up with some carbon fibre sheet to direct air to the core, i want the car lower to handle better 1st, look better 2nd. its kept clean and tidy and looks neatish for a pig r32, but im not going to the trouble and expense of getting a full kit and painting it. all it needs is to be lower with nice rims that have a good offset. im not anti nice looking cars and i like alot of body things, but subtle things that enhance the cars orignal lines, so you can see the car for what it is just with a few little bits, like lips and skirts added on. and first impressions last, i still get chipped by my gfs olds for my first car, people in my home town only knew me by that car, not my ss, or my 33, or my wrx, they all remember that monstrosity that i had first... all because it was yellow with a wing.

ok ok im bailing... this is getting out of control annnd waay off topic.. i apologise for my first post... shouldnt have backed it up with another but it was nearly 3am and id had no sleep.. bit frustrated, when i saw this thread expecting a nice skyline and saw that thing i lost it. my apologies. im not saying im a guru, im not saying im a veteran, ive just been here a while, and been a silent member, im not a post whore, i usually keep quiet if i dont have anything constructive but this thread just tipped me off.. im just anti bodykits because they serve no purpose on aus roads.. if you want something to look at, get a picture, if you want something to drive, get a performance car. modifications should enhance the driving pleasure, not take away from it. i had a bad experience on my first car by trying to be showy, i used to read hot 4s and i ended up hating the car after a short while, what i thought was a good idea, turned out not to be a good idea, i vowed never to put show before go again. i cant stand people that look at my cars and say they look nice etc.. like friends and family, that feel like thats what they have to say because its a sports car, they clearly dont know anything about it, so id prefer if they just said nothing.. im not out for compliments, im out to enjoy the car and every enhancement ive made.. its for me, noone else. if he likes it, why does he have to get our opinion?? why does it matter to him what we think of it?? if he wants it, then he can get it, i wont stop him, but if it matters to him if other people think its ricey then hes clearly not ready for it.. its one thing to ask for help deciding on tuning specs, where youve made the decision but not sure on how to go about it thats help... this is different, hes asking if we all like this kit or not. so i will try and be "constructive".. how is the kit going to look in a year or 2?? when its cracked from speed humps and its starting to warp?? is it going to be worth the attention from the police and can you handle that some people wont like it?? is it going to enhance your driving pleasure and make you feel proud to own it?? how will you feel in 5 years if you still have it?? could you rock up to meet your new gfs parents or your new potential employer in it and feel comfortable that you will earn their respect and they will see past the car?? i think the kit in the picture looks auto salon tacky, maybe replace the rear wing with a nice gt wing, fatten the front guards up and lose a bit in the back end to keep the original boot line. the bonnet looks a little tacky and the skirts are a bit to flat in the face.. maybe they could be like the nismo skirts but a bit bigger. is that constructive enough?

its a public forum, and he asked for what people thought of it, i told him what i thought of it. i cannot identify it as a skyline, it could be a civic coupe with r34 headlights. i would love to buy every gtr and sell them to those that i feel are worthy, its an awesome car that should be seen as what it was designed for, to race. its awesome in its natural state and commands respect. i just dont see the point... what a waste of money for very little gain. if youre into bodykits and glitz and glam, then what difference does it make if its a gtr?? why not just get a bog stock auto gt... your saying im not an enthusiast and for me to "go back to boost cruising" even though ive been here since 2003... and you're saying im not an enthusiast for having a rant at some git whose knowledge of cars comes from fast and furious and wants put a stupid bodykit on the last GTR with the RB26 platform?? there are no more of the rb26 versions being made... like ae86s, there arent that many left, and the more people that take them and crash them means there are less and less everyday. even though there are still tonnes of gtrs around now, eventually they will sky rocket and be few and far between. if he has the cash, why not get an r35.. that would get everyones attention.

yeh cops are generally out, but a big group doing the right thing shouldnt be too bad, they are usually out to get idiots being idiot in excels and lancers.. dont quote me though

My R32 Is Sprayed Finally Take A Look!
NZM.031 replied to _K1NGTR_'s topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
that looks tops bro, well done. -
im sorry.. i just noticed that you are 17, not 15... so where does a 17 year old get that sought of cash?? and dont you have p plate restrictions in wa?? and what makes you think that you can handle a an r34 gtr?? not to mention a worked one. go back to watching hi 5 and stay away from fast and the furious
-
what a waste of money... if you cant see it or feel it when your driving, then whats the point??? the r34 gtr is already a sweet looking car... with plenty enough room to house some wide rims, and when lowered has a stance that is scarier than ivan draco. that looks straight from fast and the furious and i wouldnt even give it the time of day to look at it. 10k just for the body?? have you then thought about how expensive and how wide the rims will have to be to get them to fill out the guards on such a wide body?? at 18s at the least they are going to be expensive, or spaced out ridiculously, going to 19s or 20s will be super expensive and what will that do to the handling?? and in aus.. for it to be road legal, it has to be 100mm off the ground... an exhaust on a stand height car is almost under 100mm so they cant be lowered all that much, so whats your wide body gonna look like when you have to have it 100mm off the ground?? or is going to be a trailer queen hell, get some rays rims with the titanium lip, wrap them in re55s, n1 engine, with n1 turbos, full titanium system, and titanium hard piping kit, get the suspension soughted and drive the thing... hard! with the stone chips to prove it, that will get more respect then a full kitted engine less show pony. look at how many compliments Bakes gets on his car... its simple, clean, purposeful, achievable, and very effective.. there is not a single person on here that cannot say it looks bad.. why?? because its purposeful, it has a reason. and are you 15?? i thought ages ago we banned 15 yr olds from making stupid posts.. you want an r34 gtr because of the awd and power.. so youre gonna shell out $60000 for a perfectly good r34 gtr, then $10000 (which is going to be a very budget job) to make it look like that hideous contraption, then wheels and tyres will be close to another $10000 if you want to do it properly (the kit and paint's gonna be a waste if you dont have rims to back it up) and after all that, the point of a wide body is to get more wheel track so youd better have the suspension set up and engine package that demands that much more wheel track so that will be around $10000 for the suspension and anywhere from $20000 for the engine and gearbox upgrades., you wont get much change out $150000 time attack and circuit gtrs arent that wide, the powerhouse amuse carbon R isnt even that wide, so why do you need it to be that wide?? otherwise do it to a gtt or even a gt so as not to wreck a perfectly good r34 gtr, better yet, do it to a supra and go cruising up n down the strips, leave the gtr's the back roads, where noone can see them doing what they do best. disrespect!
