hey, what a great idea. id love to get into c/f, but i have enough trouble with body filler, let alone c/f. just a few ideas. airbox...i have a fibreglass Unique Autosports one which is as thin as an ants johnson, a thicker carbon one would be awesome. cooling panel...that goes from grill to radiator support to force air through radiator, also good for more stickers. fuse box cover...bit of hardcore bling cam covers would look awesome. ganards?? i think thats what they are called... the wings that go on the side of the front bar. mirrors......could go some ganador type mirrors rear diffuser would be cool cold air induction piping + funnel type thing..... i have one made of PVC pipe and a plastic square funnel which works excellent and fits perfect in my 400r front bar... i could take a pic if u wanted. afm adaptors....there are heaps of ppl that would love an c/f pod to afm adaptor. can you make c/f piping??? like afm to turbo ducts and i/c piping?? as other guys have said, interor panels would be cool. dash fascias and the like, c/f A pillar guage holders. also exterior trim bits, like GTR wing endcaps, wing blades, B Pillar covers and the like. cheers Linton

same old story... cops need to come up with a new line. i drove passed a 4WD cop with someone pulled up for an RBT, i wasnt speeding, hadn't been lapping, and never had a problem with cops in the 4 mnths/3000kms id owned the car. i knew the cop was gonna chase after me so i pulled over up the road a bit at my atm, got out and checked the hole in the wall, next thing, i hear the cop car screaming down the st, lights and siren goin crazy. he pulls up behind my car, which im now walking back to. tells me i draw too much attention to myself in the car. i asked him how, and he said its just the car...this went on for a few minutes, i kept saying it was just like other cars, it just had rims and a kit and if i wasnt do anything wrong, i shouldnt attract attention, not from them anyway. he then went on to tell me how my exhaust is a defect and needs an engineers cert. because its not standard... i told him it complies with noise and emissions, he didnt care about that, the exhaust wasnt standard and therefore he thought it required an certificate. i told him what the rta documents at work say about engineers certificates. he didnt have anything to say, performed his rbt and off i went. i hate cops. cheers Linton

id say 200kw at the wheels should be easily acomplished... the stock turbo is capable of 220rwkw. the safc will be fine if its tuned right, which is piss easy anyway. good luck with it. cheers Linton

CUSTOM PAINTED R33 - Ford XR6/8 Citric Acid colour
NZM.031 replied to skyline_girl01's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
ive seen a few lines that colour...with the same kit on them aswell.... needs to be lower. that is all. maybe some tougher rims, but thats just me. big up for being a chick though. cheers Linton -
HPI 8 as the nice green r32 4 door with RB25, it drifts unreal. all cars with the right setup and driver skill will drift. i cant imagine that an engine swap from rb20 to rb25 would change the balance of the car. removing the underlay and unecessary trim bits would prob balance it up again. roll cages and bracing increase weight, but improve chassis response. an rb25 puts out more power and torque, but add a fraction more weight. everything will equal out... and aslong as u get used to driving it and drifting it, it will be fine, everyone has their own style and car setup. cheers Linton

it is possible to do the sides and most of the firewall without removing the engine, but its alot of work to remove all the components from each side and paint it with 2 pack. you could just do it with a pressure pack can of proper mixed paint, and do it in small bits. start in one corner and remove a few things and paint. with things like brake lines and other parts that are a huge amount of work to remove, try smothering them with some vasoline or grease, after painting, just wipe it off and it comes up schweet. good luck eh. cheers Linton

whats the best mag for import posters ?
NZM.031 replied to r34_skyline's topic in General Automotive Discussion
HPI and Drift battle always have good ones. Speed doesnt have any posters, and autosalon are full of mirages and civics...which if they float your boat, and thats fine if it is, then that is your mag! zoom have some imports, rarely make the centrefold though. cheers Linton -
Weird Noise on idle...family of crickets living under hood?
NZM.031 replied to boost4130's topic in General Maintenance
what it usually is, the fingers on the pressure plate bend and weaken after time and causes a misalignment on the friction plate, it makes them squeal like a belt, but stops when the clutch is put in, could also be a throwout bearing, but either way, the clutch needs checking and replacing cheers Linton -
i d/l that ages ago....awesome drifting....crazy japs. love the drift! cheers Linton

my mate just purchased a 99 rex, with the usual mods, exhaust, boost, water spray, lots of suspension and braking mods done. my car has the usual mods, fmic, exhaust, boost, tuned safc, and a few other things on the same boost level, just under 1bar, even in first and second, due to no traction on my part and piss poor launch from him, 3rd gear i pulled away from him and kept pulling. felt good after that, i enjoy my car more. another thing, i went out for a lap or 2 with him, and rexs are boring as hell...the intitial punch is ok, but after that, they have no top end, and around roundabouts and the like, they can move quick, but its just no fun. ill stick to my 33 anyday. cheers Linton

r33 running rough and blowing smoke
NZM.031 replied to kyler33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
the plugs will be as black as Samuel L Jackson if a cooler pipe is busted, check the plugs for damage, make sure you know which cylinder each plug came from, could be a coil pack problem also. if the plugs are all uniform in colour but then theres one thats different, that will be it. try putting that plug + its coilpack and run it, see if it continues to play up, remove it and check the colour again. if its the same, seperate the 2, put a different plug with that coilpack, that will tell you if its the plug or coils. depends on what blow off valve he has andrejp.. he hasnt said what mods it has, might have a hks one or something which dont leak. it all depends on colour of smoke, if its white, or bluish, then could be a busted piston ring or worse. post up the mods and conditions before it happened. cheers Linton -
Semi-slick fronts - street rears
NZM.031 replied to inissane's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
im talking about pure drift use. my rears have held up well so far. due to the camber on the rears, makes it easier to break traction as there isnt large contact patch, and also when the insides wear out, i get the tyres swapped over so the outsides are worn, the insides are brand new. benm, what sort of tyres are you using?? my stockish 33 has no trouble lighting the rears, thats with 255/35 pirelli p7000s. cheers Linton -
the hks evc is excellent....but also expensive, the greddy e01 is a better option, merely due to price. ive heard that the blite sbc's are good, a mate bought an r32 gtr with one in it, never got to play with it though, as he put a turbosmart eboost on (formerly a V8 bogan), but for simplicty the avc-r is really good, install and set up is a breeze, and nearly half price of some others. cheers Linton

r33 running rough and blowing smoke
NZM.031 replied to kyler33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
what colour is the smoke??? if its black, you could have a busted intercooler hose, it will be running super rich and go like a shot cat (after it dies), id check that first..pull the intercooler pipes out and inspect them and the rubber hoses. i had a similar problem and it turned out to be the 90' rubber hose under neath the air filter. cheers Linton -
Semi-slick fronts - street rears
NZM.031 replied to inissane's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i was thinking the same thing, as my rears wear at a fairly rapid rate.... i was going to go with some decent road tyres with semis up the front. -
Engine Drain Holes? GTS-T R33?
NZM.031 replied to martied's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
there should be one at the back of the engine, behind the turbo.. it should have a square 1/2 drive recess in it. i recomend you leave that plug alone... they are a pain to undo and reseal. if you want to completly flush your cooling system, put in some wynns radiator flush then go for a strap with the heater on. the additive will remove all the gunk from the engine walls. then remove the radiator and the thermostat and jam a hose where the thermostat was. crank it up and flush the engine...keep it going till it goes clean, then do the same to the raditor, in either the top or bottom hole, flush it out. you wont be able to remove all the coolant as some will sit below the bottom hose, the drain plug is at the same level...dunno who designed that. at work we usually just drop the coolant out of the radiator and fill it back up, dodgy aye. i prefer to use the wynns machine, which seals the system and removes all the coolant. cheers Linton -
what does my Engine bay need?
NZM.031 replied to urbanoperations's topic in General Automotive Discussion
HKS t51r, 3" titanium piping, metal flow air filter, anodoised blue cam covers, splitfire coilpacks, hks oil cap + radiator cap. 3" radiator with silicon hoses, blue vacuum lines, polished inlet plenum.... thats just for starters. nah seriously, clean the engine bay first, and blow all the water away with compressed air if you can. clean everything, everything on the strut towers and firewall aswell. polish up your cam covers with some fine sand paper and metal polish... if your keen you can do the same with the plenum. all black hoses, wipe over with armour-all, ud be suprised how much difference this makes... do it to everything thats black. and generally just tidy thing up, any hoses that can be run out of sight makes everything look neat. coloured vacuum lines do look good, but dont get cheap ones as they will suck in when they get hot. even though they are pretty, try and run them as out of sight has you can. also, take the battery out and clean up under as there is some missing paint there, give that a bit of a touch up...clean the battery aswell. if you have the time, start at 1 corner and work your way around...and if anyone tells you that its a dumb idea tell em to get stuffed...theres nothing wrong with wanting a clean and tidy engine bay...it doesnt mean your a ricer. cheers Linton -
100% noob and dont know where to start.
NZM.031 replied to Mecha's topic in General Automotive Discussion
insurance goes on the youngest driver anyway, so u will still get raped for insurance. stick with a gtst, they are heaps of fun. i want a gtr badly, but i want to be able to respect it. so ill stick with my gtst for now. your first car is a thrasher, a thing to get booked in, flog the crap out of it and blow shit up. your next car should be slightly better, u'll have more respect for it....im up to my 4th car now. dont get a gtr until u've driven your gtst and got a feel for it, modded it and got used to the power... if you do some mods to it and it feels really quick and you enjoy it, then do just that. mods to a gtr cost nearly twice as much as the rb20, and anyone that tells you the rb20 doesnt go hard is wacking themselves. they can go just as hard as everything else. you may find you dont like the skyline chassis or interior, or exterior fo that matter, you may not like the smoothness of the rb and would prefer a snappy sr20. just stick it out with ur gtst for a bit....when u get it that is. cheers Linton -
its probably just a noisy belt, a bit of wd40 or rost off will stop it squealing for a bit. find out which one it is and adjust it up, or all 3 belts. if wd40 doesnt stop the squealing, take the belts off 1 by 1 and start the engine each time until the noise goes away...then free spin the pulleys of that belt and listen for grinding noises. if you get down the timing belt and its still doing it....stop driving it and get it fixed asap. the belts stretch after fitting, i always adjust them to be just a little bit tighter then normal, so customers dont come back in 2 weeks with this problem. if you forced the belts on, which you shouldnt have to with ribbed belts but anyway, you may have damaged a bearing... subarus are common for this with their timing belts and tensioner pulleys, they are soooo tight to get on alot of ppl use a screwdriver to pry them on... they dont like it and the bearing shits itself...making a horrible noise.

i think its awesome, the japs are getting crazy with front end conversions, just recently saw an R32/180 conversion. something different, yet tasteful. i dont think its got anything to do with making your r32 into a 34 because you cant afford it, the conversion costs around $10000, if youve got $10000 to spend on a front end, you can afford a 34. cheers Linton

hey mincus, do have a 32 GTR now?? what happened to the ol' 31??? how come you dont go round to pt's anymore?? cheers Linton

Need help on SAFC2? Anyone used one
NZM.031 replied to adam_lateshift's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
they arent hard to install if you have the english instructions found at www.apexi-usa.com, and tuning isnt hard either aslong as u have a quiet road and an accurate air/fuel ratio meter. go through the rev range on light throttle, find out where its lean or rich, then on the safc lo throttle setting, dial in less air if its rich, or more air if its lean. do the same on high throttle. most tuners have learnt how to do it just by playing around. power can range from a 10kw increase up to 20 or 30, depends how wacked out ur fuel map is. cheers Linton -
GTST S1 head light
NZM.031 replied to Stephen22's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
what side is it? cheers Linton -
my god thats crazy... why didnt you just spray the calipers on there if you didnt know what you were doing?? you just put a plastic bag around the disc and around the suspension and away you go. bleeding brakes is not hard by the way, but if you've pulled 4 pistons calipers apart you should replace the o-rings inside. there would be heaps of threads on bleeding brakes so try a search. cheers Linton
