  1. I have some parts sitting at the folks' place at the moment and I haven't looked at them for a while (sold the VL over a year ago) so will get better details to interested parties if requested. RB25DET head with CAS, some factory air tubing, original computer and some injectors I think. Nothing has been tested/touched since I bought it, but came out of a working car. Selling together. I'm in Inverell, northern NSW. Will freight anywhere (if possible) at buyer's expense. After $600 ono. Cheers John 0403 675 012
  2. As far as I know... 1. You can use either the VL turbo or NA block. Only real difference being lower compression on the turbo one. 2. Should suit the conversion. Think they're the same. 3. From the RB25/30 pdf "Be sure to select a short motor that has provision for the turbos oil feed/return, water return and has both lower tensioner locations machined flat, some do not have the machined area to mount the tensioner." and "Should the block lack water/oil provision it is possible to drill and tap." Which basically means, get a series 2 block, or get a series 1 block and drill and tap water and oil provisions. 4. Nothing. Cheers
  3. Forgive my ignorance but you mention the reason for selling is that the setup won't fit. Wouldn't it fit with a change of manifolds?
  4. Would you sell r33 slave seperately? If so, how much?
  5. Interested. Kms? Got a tailshaft yoke you wanna sell also?
  6. How much do you think postage on CAS would be to northern NSW? Cheers John
  7. Thanks for the info SK. The piston speeds must be huge in RB30s doing 8.5 grand?? I couldn't be bothered working it out. Basically, what I want to achieve is a really strong, flexible street setup, with the option of drag racing and maybe some track work.
  8. Sorry Roy, I didn't put that very clearly. The redline of my engine after it's built will be much higher than it currently is, by roughly 2000rpm. This means that when I build the engine, if it was stroked at the same time, it is possible that I could still increase the rev limit over the current 5000 odd. If the engine was stroked, it is possible that it won't rev to 7000ish very happily, but it will still rev higher than it does now. Does that clear it up?
  9. Sorry, I realise this, but I have always planned on throwing the twin cam head on my engine, therefore installing new cams into my current engine would be a waste of money. When I build the engine I will rebuild the block as well as the head, which means when the head goes on, the higher possible revs will be acheved at the same time. I am talking more about piston speed when I ask about stroking the engine. I'm not so much worried about the cams or engine rpm at this stage.
  10. I ask because I currently have a 9.0:1 3L VL, with max power at 5200rpm and am looking forward to 7000rpm when I install the rb25 head, etc. I'm just concerned about how much boost I will eventually want to run, and the lag I'll experience with the low CR. The extra revs will mean I could stroke the engine and still increase the redline. I was originally looking at building a high CR N/A engine but the expense has led me to aim at forced induction from the start
  11. Anyone heard of a stroker kit for an RB30, or the possibility to stroke one? Cheers, John.
  12. G'day Dan Excellent work man, sounds like it'll be a ripper of an engine. I'm slowly getting the parts together to do an NA twincam conversion (RB25/30) to my VL. I'd really like to build an awesome NA motor, but after a certain point, it's just going to cost too much money for the relative gains. I have the intention of going turbo in the future, but am dreading losing some of the the bottom end, so your build is fairly relevant to what I want to do. Like the others said, post up some dyno results and boast a bit. Well done. Cheers, John.
  13. Thanks for the links guys. Nah, haven't got any pics yet, I'm in the slow process of getting the parts to build it...
  14. Anyone know flow/hp capability of stock and/or ported RB25DE heads? Cheers, John.
  15. Hey guys, I'm extremely keen to build a 25/30DE, I know it's not turbo, but there seems to be a hell of a lot of info in here and thought maybe someone would be able to help out. Am I right in assuming you can't use the stock ECU from the 25DE for an NA 25/30DE? Also, How would I be most likely (and cheaply, but reliably) able to get a high CR, like 10.5 or 11:1? Cheers, John.
  16. Hey guys Does anyone know what a stock rb25 head can flow in NA form? and any info on the possible port characteristics? Cheers, John.
  17. G'day, you still got the engine? Not sure about finances at moment, but can prolly negotiate with the folks... Would you be willing to sell just the head, computer and loom, and water and oil pumps? Cheers, John
  18. Mate, what comes with the crappier engine? Loom, ECU? Cheers, John.
  19. separate engine? I don't really want the block or turbo...
