  1. When i bought my car it came with a profec 2 mounted on the factory solenoid position, looking like it is using the same hoses! My mechanic told me it was wrong, however i elected to leave it as it seems to work fine, no spiking, off, high, low all perfect. can anyone shed light into why it would be better hooked up the 'proper' way

  2. I was told by the seller when i bought my car that the blend door motor was broken when i got my r32, he had purchased another one already so gave it to me with the car, however upon investigation i found the 'broken' one was just unplugged, so i plugged it back in and it worked fine, however the stupid computer deciding for me : ooo he's dropped the temperature so he must want the air on his feet as that will be too cold for this face kind of behavior resulted in me disconnecting the blend door from its motor, and now i just adjust manually reaching under the steering column, not hard, can do while driving.

  3. Hilarious, Reminds me of the first 'mod' i did on my very first car..........one day hopefully you will think back to this and find it as amusing as i'm finding it now.

Like others have said, there is really no need to remove your stock airbox, if you must keep the pod get rid of those cable ties! I wouldn't expect them to last long anyway, fashion up a bracket, not hard and can be done with minimal tools that will hold it much more securely.

I occasionally get random notifications from the mobile app for threads that I've never participated in, in sections of the forum I rarely go into. Any idea how I stop them. The notification just has a speech bubble with 3 dots in it.

I too have been having this problem, probably get around 4-8 notifications per week. random threads that i have nothing to do with.

  5. In my experience companies will often put a lower value on things so you don't have to pay, i brought a abs module for around 1200 and didn't have to pay anything extra. Also i have heard if you ship with some companies eg fed ex they will definitely change you while others eg EMS and SAL may not... I don't know if that's true but i always choose those two anyway.

  6. In my opinion doing a Degree and also a trade qualification is a great idea.

I started doing Mechanical Engineering at uni, but wasn't enjoying it so thought i would do an apprenticeship while i figured out what i wanted to do and go back to uni. I ended up doing Machining and Toolmaking (fitter/turner) and i found the whole apprenticeship experience to be really good, the difference between uni and Polytech (TAFE) where huge, at Polytech the tutors were actually concerned with helping you learn (and for me it was all free due to government subsidies). The only problem was that when i finished my apprenticeship i still felt like i had too much to learn to leave for other pursuits, so i thought i would give it 5 or so years in the trade and see how I felt.

Unfortunately when you get used to earning and you get to the age when you (or rather your partner) wants to start having a family, you have a mortgage and whatever other responsibilities the idea of going back to uni to study no longer seems like a viable option.

You have done it the right way around, degree first, then do an apprenticeship, then you have all the options in the world to go whichever way you choose.

Funnily enough for me, My employer offered me a position in the design office towards the end of my apprenticeship so i ended up in the same position i would have had i finished my degree. After one year of doing that sitting in front of a computer all day was driving me crazy so i went back to the workshop and then on to other companies.

I'm ok for now (CNC Machining is where i have specialised and ended up) but i can't see myself doing this for the rest of my life, not too sure where i'll go from here.

    Good luck figuring it out.

  7. I upped mine to 22k from 18 about a year ago, If it were to get written off or stolen I wouldn't replace it, would be just glad to get back what i brought it for initially (18k 3 years ago) anything more than that would be a bonus and go towards the reimbursement for the 15 odd grand i have spent fixing everything.

  8. I had this exact same problem on my old rb25, couldnt find the leak but after awhile it got worse and it was the radiator, so replaced that and then not long after the heater core went and leaked coolant all over the passenger footwell.

As others have said get a pressure tester, i know own one and its great, they dont cost much from ebay. Also just keep an eye on the passenger footwell, mine took forever to dry out and even longer for the smell to go

  9. Pickup available from 3044 or will post at buyers expense.

    1. LED Tail lights, came off a GTR however i'm guessing they fit all R32 Coupes, but do your own checking. They come with bonus old sealant that I am too lazy to remove - $50

What they look like on the car:

    2. Do Luck Power Brake Line Hoses (DBK-095). Box has seen better days, but lines themselves are brand new - $50

  10. I have one of these hooked up in my 33 GTS4.

From what I understand 32's Attessa system has a fuse and electronically engages the 4wd system while 33's have a viscus fluid and the system engages based on slip and the amount of G forces put on the fluid so only the 32s could use the 2wd/4wd switch.

I've found it to be pretty good for a simple controller, and certainly does add grip. It simply tricks the Atessa system to think you're slipping - how much R% F% is based on how much you turn up the dial. 10 = 50/50% while 0 = 100%/0% or that 95%/ 5% up front while normal driving, whatever the normal ratio is.

These are the only parts of your statement with any truth.

  11. No, can be done with everything on the car (even the exhaust, although does make it easier) after 26 years mine was pretty tight and i had to machine a custom socket to get it off. using a g-clamp as i had read in another thread resulted in the canister unscrewing itself which could be pretty dangerous if the thing still had change, surprised they didn't make it with a left hand thread to avoid that ever happening. Was definitely worthwhile to replace the canister, overlooked by the vast majority i reckon.

  12. It's a total load of shit, i once owned a car for a month so the roadworthy that i brought the car with had only expired about 4 days previously and i had to get the windscreen polished (want clear enough) and some glue injected into the steering wheel to firm it up because you could twist it a little.

My advice would be of there are a couple of things you know are wrong (but are cheap to repair) don't fix them up before you go, if the mechanic has a couple of legitimate things to put down he is less likely to make up stupid shit.

As others have said way better to save the hassle and buy car with rwc already, however if you find the car you want and rwc isn't an option (as is often the case with skylines) i have found it to be a better experience as a buyer getting a rwc as opposed to being the seller.
