The Vox is a bit crappy on the $129 model and I dont think I will use it, the only model that has a good one was $450. The hands free is very good quality and does have another puch to talk button. Drop into a dickies and have a look.

Getting 200kw on a GTR at all 4 wheels
OZ GTR35 replied to Ethan_R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Vspec, I actually used Karl, from down your way. We went to the tafe dyno and that is where we clocked the 210Kw. With the 440cc injectors they were 95% maxed and the fuel ratio was just right. I will be down in melb in the next couple of months, let me know who your tuner is and I will let him play with the car when Im down. -
I bought the hands free kits, cost 1/2 as much as the radio, and I still need to modify to fit under a helmet.

I just paid and peter tells me that only 7 people have paid, who is intending and has not? -
Well it’s been 6 weeks of cold the sphincter of the universe without my trusty MADGTR. Since blowing her up at Eastern Creek she has sat cold and alone in my mates workshop. I have all my parts except a pair of variable cam sprockets. Apparently they are in the country but I do not have them in my hot little hands so it makes no real difference where they are. God I cant wait to get back behind the wheel, not that my borrowed Festiva does not have enough power to pull the skin off a bowl of custard, its just I miss the feel of a good car. I wonder what you guys think I will dyno once I have the all the new mods in? Performance Mods, Old: Power FC, custom FMIC, boost to 16lb, steel wheel turbo's Nismo 80mm Exhaust cat back. High flow panel filter. KW= about 200KW @4W New: High flowed 47.5mm compressor turbos, HKS Dump pipe, larger 6lt highflow cat, 550cc inj, variable cam sprockets, Apexi boost kit to 17lb. NON Performance mods Sump Baffle, head restrictor, metal Head, Inlet and Outlet gaskets, Triple core Radiator, oil cooler. So what do you think?

Sorry, just read the instructions, that helps, 20hrs standby, less for continuous usage.

Just went to Dickies and bought 2 x 42XR model, on special from $149 to $129, have voice operated VOX, so it will work on the track and the bike without push to talk. The hands free is a bit big but hopefully I can modify it or my helmet. Apparently 20Hrs non stop operation. Very neat little Box.

I want one for my bike so my wife and I can chat and also for trackdays and cruzes. How long does the $99 one last before a fully charged battery goes flat? Could I expect to get 6 hours of out of one?

The most common mod, I thought, is not to high flow your Skyline turbo, but go and buy a second hand VL T3 and high flow it with T4 kit, you then sell you stock working GTS turbo to someone who has killed theirs. The option is up to you. After saying that I am currently getting both my GTR turbo's highflowed. I think they are the same as a single GTS ones. There is something you should do first, and that is to piss off you ceramic exhaust wheel as well and put a steel shaft in. You can then look at increasing your 42mm compressor wheel to 47.5, like I have. You can go larger but the Garrett guy did not recommend increasing the size much more then 47.5 due to the amount of milling they do to fit the 48.5 wheel. Cost, good question. Steel wheel exhaust wheel and shaft $600, Mill and 47.5mm steel wheel compressor $200, seals and re balance $340, so its a $1000+ job. The guy at Garrett will only recommend 3lb more boost than standard. Personally I would go and buy a second hand Ball bearing turbo, slightly larger then what you currently have, it will spool up quicker and be ok for 20lb. But you need to be prepared to do lots of work to run 20Lb, forged pistons, Fuel system, pump, inj, reg, electric upgrade, clutch and the list goes on.

Getting 200kw on a GTR at all 4 wheels
OZ GTR35 replied to Ethan_R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Steve, I assume your Turbo's were steel wheeled by Garrett? I just had mine redone due to the dropping of my inlet valve on number 3. (P.S. thanks for the short engine) Various people have told me that the turbo's are good for 20Lb but talking to the guy in Garrett who rebuilds them he said they are only good for 3lb above stock standard boost on a GTR. That makes about 13Lb. What are your thoughts on the life span at 1.3 Bar? I ran 1.1 bar for 70,000Km and when he pulled them apart, except for the damage to the exhaust wheel he said they were in good condition. -

The original Post on SDU said that if we can get the fully day with 16 people then it would be $605 each and I get to drive for free. My $605 discount pushes all of our prices down to $570 each. We only have 12-14 people ATM, so it will be $605, if we get some late comers and we get 16 people then I will make sure we all get the $35 back by the end of the day. -
Getting 200kw on a GTR at all 4 wheels
OZ GTR35 replied to Ethan_R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Agreed, but replacing turbos, is no what I would call a "Basic Mod". To get Big HP from a GTR you need bigger turbo's. Boost, exhaust, and pods are not enough to get a GTR much above 150Kw @4W on a GTR. -
All, The day is good to go, any other interested parties please see the General Discussion thread.

Getting 200kw on a GTR at all 4 wheels
OZ GTR35 replied to Ethan_R32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I don’t know how some people can get 200Kw at 4 wheels with Very light mods. Before I blew the GTR up, I had quite a few mods done, and only 2 weeks before the EC drive day I went to Croydon’s and did a dyno, 194Kw @ all 4. If you have a R32 and you can switch to rear wheels only, 200Kw is achievable because of the lower losses. We hype up our KW regularly but ready I don’t think we get as much as we say we do. Look at it this way. On a GTR (R33) in 4WD you will loose about 40-45% of power from fly to wheels. Rear wheel only say about 25-30%. So! 350KW @ Fly - 42.5% drive train looses is 201Kw @4W 350KW @ Fly converted to horse's is 500HP. The injectors / turbo's /airflow meter and fuel system are at its limits when it produces 500HP. So 200Kw is not as easy as it seams. My 194Kw was with. 720mm x 360mm x 72mm FMIC Apexi PFC Bleed valve to 16LB Steel shaft/wheel garret rebuilt turbo's 3" nismo exhaust and headers Standard Box with high flow filter I do have one reason why my run was low, my Platinum plugs were delaminated and my air filter was 20K Km old. I have had as high as 210Kw. Since I blew the engine up I have a few other mods which will be doing. Variable cams, dump pipe, high flowed 47.5 mm compressor turbo wheels, 550cc injectors, Apexi boost up kit to 17lb. I will be very happy if I produce 250Wk @all 4 which is about 600HP. I hope this helps Ethan, and I open this to the floor for comment. -

All, I had a call from Peter Finlay and he is happy for us to drive on these dates, even with a few less people. All right, I will be around the Castle Hill area over the whole weekend. You have two options to pay for the 2 days. 1. Drop some cash around to me on Sat/Sun of this weekend 22&23 Jun. I will pay the money to Peter Finlay on Sunday night. You can call me on 0402847826 or 0412506306 (Wife’s Phone), and I will give you my address. Or 2. Call Peter or his wife by Sunday on 02 98731773 and pay the $605 with your Master/Visa card. Either way please let me know which way you are paying so I can keep track of how many people have paid. So far I have. I think they have it all wrong, with the exhaust noise thing. With your Hyundi you cant put 18" wheels because they come factory with 14" fair enough, the law says 1" max increase. I think there should be a noise increase limit compared to shock exhaust noise. Ie An excel stock puts out 79db you should only be limited to a 5 db increase. This would apply to cars who already have a high noise stock figure because they are already high powered cars. Ie V8's stock 87db RX7 Stock 89db Skyline Stock 87db. Farrari 89db The guy with the Hyundi can put a 3 in system with a hot dog only and still be legal, while a skyline decent 3" system with 2 big High flow muffles struggles to keep under the 90db limit. It shits me when a see a loud normally aspirated 1.3lt whose car is as loud as mine and I say why, what does it achieve? The comeback for the law is their comment anything above 90db is offensive, but it is still discriminatory against high performance cars.
